OlderBristol Palin is Pregnant!
Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin announced that her 17-year-old daughter Bristol Palin is five months pregnant and is going to marry the father.
Sarah and husband Todd Palin released this statement via the John McCain campaign:
“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.”
“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.”
Reuters news service, which first reported the news, says this news is “intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for [Bristol].” Trig was born this past April with Down Syndrome.

I am disgusted by this irresponsible behaviour. To give birth at age 44 to a baby with Down’s because you refuse to use birth control inexcusable. Ignoring the dangers that you expose yourself and your baby to by refusing to use birth control after 40 is negligent and careless. To believe that a woman like this has the opportunity to become Vice President of the United States of America in 2008 makes me ill.
Does anyone else share this opinion?

I’ve been critical of Sarah Palin but let me say this clearly:
I ABSOLUTELY UNDERSTAND WHY SHE WOULD CHOOSE TO HAVE THE BABY EVEN KNOWING THAT HE HAD DOWNS SYNDROME.
I would have made the same choice and I’m a woman in my 40s.
A DS child can have a very good quality of life. They are loving and caring. Depending on the severity of the DS, they can even hold down a simple job.
I would never blame anyone for aborting a DS fetus. But I can absolutely understand the decision to have and love a DS baby.
That’s why I’m critical of Sarah Palin, for having the baby and leaving the baby to the care of others. That is a fact. Sarah cannot be much of a hands on mother, not if she went back to work within 3 days of delivery, not if she accepted the nomination of VP.
Typical Republican hypocrites. They tend to talk from both sides of their mouths. I remember when Jaime Lynn pregnancy was announced, Fox news and their right winged reporters had a field day with insults. And now they’re embracing Palin and her teenage daughter, calling it a family affair. What a bunch of HYPOCRITES !!!
And it’s ok because she’s having a shot gun wedding, you got to love these God fairing Repubs.
#324 it is more than judging the mother, it is also judging the greed and political ambition of this cadidate. She is supposed to represent a party that shoves family values down the throats of Americans and acts as if Democrats have none. Guess what, they are not alone, even non-affiliated voters have religion, and we don’t kill babies either!
What concerns me is how she makes the statement that they are glad that Bristol decided to keep her baby. This is not the time to turn her daughter’s pregnancy into a political statement. Her children are not political stepping stones. That is NOT an indicator of a healthy mother, or a candidate with strong family values.
Does a candidate really value the family when she is so willing to pursue the Vice-presidency so soon after giving birth to a special needs child? I don’t just mean mothers, this would be true for fathers too.
Don’t act the good Christian, state you are the good Christian, but then sacrifice the time your children need to pursue your own ambitions. If she can’t devote the time and attention that her own small children need within the home when they are young, how can she do the same for me and my family?
I need a stronger economy! I need my sons to have jobs waiting for them when they get out of college. The Republicans have started a war with no end in site. They have created a deficit with no apparent point of return. She is not giving me a sense of hope here.
This woman should have done a better job with her oldest in the area of abstinance or birth control, either one, but not lie to us and portray herself as the perfect mother of five and then start having skeletons coming out of the closet.
The Republicans are insulting women if they think that she is a suitable replacement for Hilary. Chealsey is grown, inteligent, and educated. Hilary put the needs of her family first, and she stood by her family, and her cheating husband, during hard times. She is tough and proven through the toughest of times.
All this woman has done is shown that she can wear a skirt and race over slippery streets in icy conditions on a February walk in Juno, pregnant with her 5th child?
Come on, we are not idiots. McCain is old, they focus their campaigns on smearing Obama. I hear almost nothing of new ideas that will result in a change, and then they throw in a token female. I am personally disgusted with them. I started out neutral–now I am pissed off!

But he was dating her daughter Bristol, and didn’t tell Bristol that baby was not hers. Obama’s mum who had baby when she was 18 tried to out Sarah, to deflect the attentions from herself and her illegitimate baby , Sarah told her daughter to get knocked up by the Hockey player, and Evangelical right said its okay as long he marries her, and the communist from Obama household, … well I don’t know his role, but apparently reading some comments there is a commie lurking around.

Especially over 40 when the risk of birth defects is higher. palin may be able to afford a Down Syndrome baby but most American women will not be able to mee the cost and challenge of raising high risk babies so women should practice safe sex and use birth control. I am sick to death of Republican attack ads, their self-righteous attitudes, and acting like the only ones that love life are Republican. Do they know any other tune to play. It is getting nauseating to listen too. How about demonstrating that they can make a good speech too–maybe at least one time.
How many lives of American soldiers have been lost because of greed for oil in Iraq (pronounce with short i sound, like in India)? How many more Iraqi lives? They are not even the ones that are responsible for 9/11.
Love life? If you really love life, love your family and spend time with them when it counts. Don’t just buy the best nanny service and call that good Christianity. We know she loves her family, but apparently she really loves power a lot too. McCain, shame on you for not seeing this.
When will all the democrats whose moms took them to Planned Parenthood after a frank discussion about sexual activity get their say? I took birth control for 9 years before having 2 planned kids, and my husband took 3 and 4 weeks off with me to help me after the birth. My mom deserves a lot of credit for talking truth to me at 16 and I never got pregnant before marriage. Some of my friends were not so lucky and I supported them.
I never liked the idea that Palin went to work 3 days after having Trig. If she wants to kill herself running for fitness, that’s one thing. Don’t mess up your family and the nation by running for VP.

Great point, but so far the Republicans haven’t gotten attention through great ideas they have done it through either trashing women, trashing the nation–through war-profiteering–greed–self righteous religeous shove it down your throat evangelizing, or having a women of questionable character–nothing of sustainable character themselves so far.

I think Sarah Palin seems to be a decent person. However, I believe in family first and I think she holds her political aspirations above everything else. Being a mother myself, I would think, with a pregnant teenager and a new baby with special needs, the last thing she should be doing is running for VP. Her family obviously needs her, especially her daughter, but mom is too busy playing politics, and anyone that thinks she can do both is delusional.. I don’t care what people like to believe, you cannot do both AND give your all. One or the other suffers. In Sarah Palins case it will be her family. The Bush admin has set womens rights back 30 years and McCain/Palin will continue that path. I think McCain chose her because of the fact that she has no experience in anything, so no one to question his decision making,he can do what he wants, just like King George.
Anyone can lie about a month or two in a pregnancy, this proves NOTHING, NADA!
