OlderBristol Palin is Pregnant!
Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin announced that her 17-year-old daughter Bristol Palin is five months pregnant and is going to marry the father.
Sarah and husband Todd Palin released this statement via the John McCain campaign:
“We have been blessed with five wonderful children who we love with all our heart and mean everything to us. Our beautiful daughter Bristol came to us with news that as parents we knew would make her grow up faster than we had ever planned. We’re proud of Bristol’s decision to have her baby and even prouder to become grandparents. As Bristol faces the responsibilities of adulthood, she knows she has our unconditional love and support.”
“Bristol and the young man she will marry are going to realize very quickly the difficulties of raising a child, which is why they will have the love and support of our entire family. We ask the media to respect our daughter and Levi’s privacy as has always been the tradition of children of candidates.”
Reuters news service, which first reported the news, says this news is “intended to knock down rumors by liberal bloggers that Palin faked her own pregnancy to cover up for [Bristol].” Trig was born this past April with Down Syndrome.

McCain officials said the news of the daughter’s pregnancy was being released to rebut what one aide called “mud-slinging and lies” circulating on liberal blog sites.
According to these rumors, Sarah Palin had faked a pregnancy and pretended to have given birth in May to her fifth child, a son named Trig who has Down syndrome. The rumor was that Trig was actually Bristol Palin’s child and that Sarah Palin was the grandmother.
A senior McCain campaign official said the McCain camp was appalled that these rumors had not only been spread around liberal blog sites and partisan Democrats, but also were the subject of heightened interest from mainstream news media.
“The despicable rumors that have been spread by liberal blogs, some even with Barack Obama’s name in them, is a real anchor around the Democratic ticket, pulling them down in the mud in a way that certainly juxtaposes themselves against their ‘campaign of change,’” a senior aide said.

Notice how most of the men comment on this, however, ask them how many of them had sex at 17.. Difference is they didn’t get caught or aren’t men enough to admit that they actually were responsible for a preganancy… Why is this classified as a mistake.
Parents can only do their best, but all people have their own minds, even the ir children and no matter what you teach them, they will do what they want to do.
Stop holding the parents responsible for everything.. Its of no great secret that most families have to have two incomes to survive and all of a sudden its the mothers fault?..

Well, there is simply no way the daughter is five months pregnant AND gave birth in secret to a four month old baby. Basic math.
Palin was just selected at VP on Friday, people. She wasn’t going to announce her daughter’s pregnancy in her acceptance speech. Give me a break.
Lots of political leaders have had children who made mistakes. That’s part of life.
I think in this case it’s very understandable how she wasn’t able to watch her daughter. I know when kids and up a pregnant a lot of people blame their parents for not watching, but it wasn’t like work and their own problems consumed them at the time of conception. They were a month away from bringing their own child, who they knew would have down syndrome, into the world. That’s an understandable distraction.
I respect her openness about the issue and the fact that she hopes her daughter and future son in law will see that it’s not so easy to raise a baby.
The girl is to be commended for her bravery but really getting married is a mistake.

Good gosh women have been getting pregnant at an early since the beginning of time. This isn’t a newsflash. Obama’s own mother was an unwed 17 yr old. I am not going to base my vote on a underage pregnancy bc Obama is a product of one and Palin’s daughter is having one.

And she was not pregnant at 17. She got married at 18 and then had Obama later.

I don’t know if the Dems on this board have been paying any attnetion, but as per the latest surveys, Obama and McCain are practically in a dead heat. Obama didn’t get a bounce from his convention speech.
I remember when Jamie Lynn got pregnant, there were some on fox news like Bill O’Reilly and Saun Hannity talking bad about her and her mom’s parental skills. Bill even went as far as saying her show should be cancelled because she is a disgrace to teenagers and that she should not be a role-model. That’s a little hypocritical don’t you think?

Trig Palin was born on 4/18/08. That gives Bristol just enough time to be in her fifth month of a new pregnancy. Just because Bristol is pregnant now doesn’t mean she wasn’t pregnant before.
