Sarah Palin: Babies, Lies & Scandal
John McCain’s vice presidential running mate, Sarah Palin, takes this week’s cover of Us Weekly, along with newborn Trig, afflicted with Down syndrome. The mag talks about her firm stance on antiabortion (even in cases of rape) and her opposition to sex-education classes (she believes in abstinence instruction for teens).
Rudy Giuliani, the former New York mayor, recently spoke about the vetting of Palin with CNN. He sang praises of Palin, saying, “She’s got the domestic experience, and she’s got the judgment. And she’s got what John McCain, I know, finds very attractive, which is a real independent spirit and a person who can produce results.”
“Barack Obama is not ready. Barack Obama’s never run a city, never run a state, never run an agency, never run a business, never made a payroll, has never really negotiated, which is why he makes so many mistakes on how to negotiate. You know, negotiate without preconditions, that’s absurd.
“Based on what I know, she was thoroughly vetted. I think John knew her, knew what she accomplished in Alaska, a lot of it has been an open book. I think the issues that are coming out now, all the ones that I have heard so far, are ones that he knew in advance, talked to her about it on Friday. And, he has confidence — this is after all the main criteria of getting selected as vice president, the presidential candidate has to have confidence that you’ve got what he needs to accomplish the job.”

Didn’t John McCain learn anything from the Keating 5? Namely, that your reputation is only as good as the company you chose to be with?
John McCain would have been better off picking Heidi Montag from the Hills as his running mate. At least Heidi is a virgin.
Everyone needs to leave the children out of this. How nasty of a nation have we become, that we smear the reputations of kids? All children make mistakes.
#153 is Sarah Palin.
Lies, lies, lies, yeah.
There is a difference between saying that abstinance is best and not teaching sex ed. What needs to happen is sex ed needs to be taught with the idea that abstinance is the best way to not get pregnant.
Why is Palin being blamed for her 17 year olds choices? Seriously ever single one of us posting on this site has made choices in our lives that our parents didn’t agree with. It’s the parents job to teach the kid the difference between right and wrong but its the kids choice to listen. Sarah Palin is in no way responsible for her daughter’s choice to have sex. By the age of 17 most parents job raising their kids is done. The kid is old enough to know about sex and old enough to decide if she wants to have it or not. Stop blaming Sarah Palin for her daughter’s choices
Fawk this useless *****…. She’s not fit to run her own dayum house, with her ugly teenage daughter getting drunk and letting Billy the Redneck knock her up, yet you want this to ***** to speak for America? She just had a baby… What the hell was McCain thinking? And she’s anti-abortion even in rape cases? Well here’s my prayer for you and your family bytch…. I pray your daughter gets raped, along with the rest of your kids and yourself. I pray the females get pregnant so that both your kids will not only be aunt/uncle to each other, but also siblings…. Then I pray the males get AIDS and die from it.
Run your own *****-fest of a household and leave running the country to those who don’t have kids pro-creating and getting drunk. What a big joke
Jared, I am just crushed as a woman and as a Republican you would put this ugly attack against a fine woman on your site. I just deleted the rag TMZ, please don’t make me lose you, too. Please, readers of this site, search for the facts before you make a decision on this woman. The press is smearing her to death because she is a woman, a Republican and a mother. Don’t you do the same. Women can be so ugly and petty when it comes to other women. Don’t let the men and liberal press drag us down. Support a woman’s right to be heard.
Thank God we have Us Weekly to set us straight on politics!
Seriously, I fall right in the middle politically: neither ticket sounds all that wonderful- but come on.
Any whiff of scandal for a republican and it’s cover stories and media saturation, the same for Barack and everyone in journalism gets offended.
Where is the parity?
It’s up to the parent to keep the child from that type of mistake. A baby is a lifelong comittment. Is she going to do the same with her other daughters. Has any other girl in Presidential history became pregnant. The Pastor of our old church wanted us to teach our children about abstinence. He sounded like a fool. I would not chance my daughters future to such idiotic talk. Yet his daughter had several abortions.
Don’t vote for this ticket just because a woman is on it. Sara P. conservative views are dangerous towards women.
#160. Your pastor is no fool. I’ve seen teenagers who were HIV positive as well as a ton of other sexually transmitted diseases that were not prevented by a condom. It is at these moments when you would have to agree your pastor is no fool but smart!
@126
“Sarah is the most popular. Move over Obama ‘cos you are now irrelevant.
People Obama cover flopped. Clear indication that the mini van majority has not taken to him and most possibly this is a hint on how he will fare in November.
Hillary 2012″
Hey hon - you might want to check your stupid self. Hillary Clinton does not support Sarah Palin. The two are polar opposites. One has experience in the senate of an incredibly populous state, while the other has experience as a mayor of 9K people and a state with a population of roughly 600K.
Sarah Palin has a record of backpedaling, scandal, and other such things. For the people who talk about William Ayres, Obama was 8 YEARS OLD when Ayres did what he did. Additionally, Rezko doesn’t mean jack - we’re not merely choosing a president on the partnerships that they hold. We go off of records and the issues - and if anything, the way that Sarah Palin does things, she’s going to destroy things for all women, and, in addition, likely leave your darling Hillary unable to run.
The reason that people are putting Bristol into these debates is because you cannot tell people in this country that “Your **** stinks, and I am to change it,” meanwhile your own daughter’s **** is just as rank. She was irresponsible when it came to her own sexuality. That is nothing to be championed just because she’s a pretty white girl from Alaska that decided to keep her baby. These things happen all the time in poorer communities of color - but those same people who champion Bristol are the same ones to condemn the poorer Americans. You can’t have your cake and eat it too.
The truth is that if you at least run for National Senate and make it as a senator, you are more than qualified enough to run as PotUS. Senators, at times, can hold more power than the president because they can override him. In fact, they can impeach the president.
Also, if we want to talk about Jeremiah Wright and Fr. Michael Phleger, let us not forget Pastor John Hagee and his comments in regards to the Holocaust and Hilter - which is many times more offensive than talking about something that actually happens to PoC EVERY DAY OF OUR LIVES. It’s one thing to say something that people just don’t want to hear that has a ring of truth to it. It’s something else to say something that is completely off base.
Sarah Palin was not vetted, the GOP came in and scrubbed her wikipedia clean as well as God Knows what the hell else, she talks about others keeping their legs closed and can’t keep her own daughter from going out and spreading her own, she has Jerry Springer-style scandals to her name, she has ended one brand of corruption to insert in her own, and yet, people are amazed by her but are appalled by Obama - who has a much cleaner slate?
You guys are freaking kidding me.
And you, #126, are voting AGAINST Hillary when you vote for Sarah Palin and are voting against the interests of women and yourself. Just because Sarah Palin has a ****** does not mean that she’s a good leader on the issues AT ALL. But this is why some people tend to this that women are stupid and gullible when it comes to voting - just like McCain did when he picked this woman.
@135
“Of the four of them (McCain, Obama, Palin and Biden), Palin is the only one with executive experience.”
Yes. Because being a governor is far more relevant than being a national senator. Meanwhile, pigs are flying.
How are you defining executive experience, because Joe Biden has THIRTY YEARS OF IT.
“Abortion is a very important issue. Where was his good judgement recently. To the question “when does life begin,” McCain answered, “At conception.” Obama danced around it, and finally said, “…….that’s above my pay grade.”
Because the idea that life begins at conception is presumptuous. A blastocyst/zygote/embryo/fetus is a parasite that has to live off of the host - it’s mother. Up until the later terms, it is IMPOSSIBLE for a baby to sustain it’s own life outside of it’s mother. I myself measure life at the point where a baby can sustain itself when it’s out of the womb. If anything, McCain is arguing an opinion against another, not an established scientific fact.
You haven’t said anything yet that makes sense, Orchid.
calmdowneatamooseburger @ 09/03/2008 at 10:50 am Politics has always been dirty business. This election is no different, the past two presidential elections that have been voter machine rigged by the Republician Party and it won’t suprise me if this election we’ll see another Republican in the Oval office.
====================================================
You are so right . They can only win by cheating and it’s hypocritical to go to third world nations and monitor cheating when republicans are doing it here at home.
That was a great speech!
Im not a political person, nor do I follow politics, but I have to say, that I feel weird about this woman. She seems unexperienced and all over the place- she’s for educating abstinence. Are you friggin crazy. Politics start at home. If you dont feel comfortable teaching children all sides of something (sex), then you got a lot to learn! I guess this mama is for obama
I saw her wearing hooker-heels on Perezhilton blog.
I think people will see through Palin’s lies. I think Carl Rove wrote the speech for her. She’s really low class to stoop so low and to be so disrespectful to Obama and Biden. She has no class. Her lies will catch up with her, GOD willing! Her and McCain don’t have a chance in hell to win this election. The republicans have been in contol for the last 8 years and they’re really done good for this country, haven’t they. They’ve had there chance and they’ve proved they can’t run a country…they know nothing about the economy and McCain made a terrible mistake choosing Palin especially having not vetted her at all. What a bad choice.
I did not watch the republican convention because I’m tired of being lied to by a self-serving party. I need to surround myself with truth not people that have ruined this economy and want me the voter to vote for them again.
Poor McSame, he trotted out the most vicious, vapid, Far Right excuse for a VP he could find and her attacks went nowhere. The both think GW / Cheney did and are still doing a great job. Case closed. Oh, and don’t forget for a moment the fact that they will both make damn sure the Supreme Court finally swings to the Right, ie: bye bye Roe v Wade. Truly a scary duo.
164 A. @ 09/03/2008 at 10:54 pm Orchid @ 09/03/2008 at 9:08 am 131 Matt @ 09/03/2008 at 8:47 am
Matt:
SARAH PALIN DOES NOT HAVE MORE EXPERIENCE THAN OBAMA.
Me:
Of the four of them (McCain, Obama, Palin and Biden), Palin is the only one with executive experience.
You:
How are you defining executive experience, because Joe Biden has THIRTY YEARS OF IT.
She was a mayor of a small town, and is now governor of Alaska. That means being in charge of people and a budget. The others have only been senators.
Matt:
What Obama has that McCain lacks is the JUDGEMENT on all important issues.
Me:
Abortion is a very important issue. Where was his good judgement recently. To the question “when does life begin,” McCain answered, “At conception.” Obama danced around it, and finally said, “…….that’s above my pay grade.” Please explain that!
You:
Because the idea that life begins at conception is presumptuous. A blastocyst/zygote/embryo/fetus is a parasite that has to live off of the host - it’s mother. Up until the later terms, it is IMPOSSIBLE for a baby to sustain it’s own life outside of it’s mother. I myself measure life at the point where a baby can sustain itself when it’s out of the womb. If anything, McCain is arguing an opinion against another, not an established scientific fact.
I see you can’t read! I’m not arguing when life begins!
At the Saddlebac k Forum, Pastor Warren asked both of them, separately, when does life begin, in their opinion.
McCain answered the question. Obama didn’t. All he managed to say was that it was ‘above his pay grade.’ I WAS WONDERING WHAT THAT MEANT.
Since Matt said Obama has JUDGEMENT on all important issues, why didn’t he answer. Isn’t this an important issue?
Btw, what is your usual name? Why hide behind ‘A.?’
I have voted Repbllican most of my adult life and I’m 60. It amazes me that the Republican’s think that this woman iscapable of runing the united states. She can’t even keep track of a 17 yr old. I raised 3 kids and none got pregnant, none got DWI and none did drugs, why because I did my job that I signed up for when I had my kids.
Sarha was for the bridge to nowhere and no against it. I would not have my baby Downs syndrom or not out like that. All we will hear going forward is “POW” and Downs Syndrom” I want to hear how we will improve our economy and for some reason this group choses to attach instead of saying what they will do. Why do we allow this kind of politics.
As an pro choice independent, I was once on the fence. However, after listening to the media play out their messiah (Obama) and looking at his record, and looking at all the lies the democrats have been telling. I am now definitely voting McCain-Palin.
Thr hypocrisy of the left is out there for every one to see. The examples are numerous:
1. Al Gore and his preaching on Global warming and how we should all cut back on our carbon foot prints . Meamwhile he jets around and lets his airconditioned limo idle outside convention halls when he’s inside talkin. His home alone - talk about a carbon foot print. HYPOCRSY.
Global warming itself - despite no scientific backup.
2. The left so against the war, yet Clinton, Kerry and Gore all said Saddam was a threat and had WMDs. A republican president does something about it and flip flop. HYPOCRISY
The left comes off as being for the down trodden, the underprivliged. Yet need I remind you it was a republican president who freed the slaves. It was republicans who appointed 2 African Americans into the supreme court. Liberal democrats are not the friends of African Americans or women for that matter.
The irony of Obama giving his speech on the date that Martin Luther King gave his I have a Dream speech. MLK was a registered republican. Who also happened to be pro-life.
http://www.nationalblackrepublicans.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=pages.DYK-Why%20MLK%20was%20a%20Republican
Palin is being smeered by the left for being a woman who stands up to the good ‘ol boy network. Now the left is hypocritically attacking her because her 17 year old daughter is pregnant. Wasn’t Obama’s motther also pregnant at 17? Talking to your child about abstinence does not mean you don’t talk birth control as well. Any parent knows you can only guide your child and hope they choose well. Yet they will smear her.
AndsShe doesn’t preach creationism, she believes it should be taught in school alongside evolution in order to open it up to debate. Darwin himself was a deeply religious man who believed in God.
Regardless the left and the MSM (mainstream media) controlled by the left will continue to smear her, but truth will win out. Know your history people.
Ther will be a woman in the white house one day, and it won’t be the democratsd who put one there, it will be a republican.
Apologize for typos in previous posts. Me four year old boy spilled grape juice all over my keyboard and no matter how many times I have cleaned it, it still causes errors. Time for a new keyboard. But I suppose you all got the gist from my ealier posting.
Please lets elevate ourselves from the bashing. Elections should not be based on emotions and how attractive one looks or talks. Unfortunately the public is lazy and easily swayed by such things. Read up on your history. Do the research and the facts are all there.
For example regarding the war and WMDs
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i87cZ3Og6ts
The lefts rallyioning cry: There were no WMDs. No need to go to war.
We did find plenty of yellow cake there. Was it reported in the main stream media. No.
Read up folks.
