Ace Tomato, Sarah Palin is the member of a church that is quite controversial as well, so before you keep ranting about Rev. Wright, perhaps you should do some research on your candidate.  She is also affiliated with a party that wants Alaska to secede from the US, now that doesn’t sound patriotic to me.  And of course, the Republicans will blame the media instead of blaming their candidate.  We went through Obama’s life with a fine toothed comb, and now Palin is exempt from the same scrutiny because her daughter is pregnant.  If this was a Democratic candidate the Republicans would be yelling about morals and values, now the new strategy is to blame the press.  Blame McCain for not vetting his VP.  And blame her for putting her daughter through this circus.

What an absolute mess of a situation. It is incomprehensible that this boy is coming into the public to showcase his teen sex to attempt the Republican party to show that he now wants to marry the teenage Mom. This is an attempt to counter the trash he wrote on his MySpace account.

Only a Republican could spin this around to now showcase this situation to identify with the teenagers that they had previously considered trash that did this.

Five months pregnant? “About” 5 months? Maybe 3-4 looks more accurate. A belted skirt? GOP is just trying to show that she is indeed pregnant, as if that will deflect attention from this astonishing mess. They’re running interference with this photo op, doing what they do best, confusing people who suspect there are terrible lies that speak to Sarah Palin’s character. With more appearances of a pregnant Bristol they expect this whole thing to die down. No one’s attacking this girl–she seems a lot more nurturing and doting on the baby than her mother. Sarah Palin has created this mess for her own daughter and that in itself speaks volumes. To describe her as “ambitious” is a gross understatement. Reckless, despicable? because she risked her unborn Down syndrome baby’s life on that plane, passing up two major cities and hospitals, then left Anchorage to drive to a rural medical center. Crazy, dangerous, stupid? Or maybe this concocted scheme and accompanying story just got away from her and she never dreamed that the amniotic fluid and contractions on a long plane flight would condemn her this way. She’s only used to doing damage control in Alaska–it’s not working now.

To WakeUpPeople: The reason this even became an issue is because of the lies and smears of the Daily Kos. I guess raising taxes, government run health care, rights for terrorists…has all worked. What a joke!

Tom, I’m pretty sure you know you’re comparing apples and organges. It is the Republicans who have always criticized a woman’s choice to be in the workplace. First of all, Hillary was the first lady not the President, Nancy Pelosi’s children were grown before she went to Washington, and Joe Biden went home every night to take care of his children which is what any working parent does, so your theory is baseless and wrong. I also find it incredible that Republicans are so up in arms over any criticism of Sarah Palin’s choices when they have been the very party that has sought to deprive women of their right to choose. And I would never support a candidate simply because she’s a woman, particularly one who doesn’t believe that women deserve equal pay for equal work. Her positions are as far from pro-women as you can get and your attempts to make this about misogyny obscures the real issues. There are enough problems with her stands on issues that render her family situation irrelevant.

I am democrat but I will vote for McCain for sure. I was so moved by Fred Thompson and Lieberman’s speech last night at RNC. Obama is just a smooth talker. He has done nothing significant during his years as a Senator.

#10. I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed that Mrs. Palin hasn’t been photographed holding her baby. Now I realize that I haven’t seen every picture of her, but the latest pics that have come out always show someone else holding the baby.

Another thing I don’t understand (and granted I don’t understand a lot of things) is why the pro-life community is making such a big deal about her decision to keep her son, when she knew he had Down’s Syndrome? I’m sure that there are pro-choice women out there that would not abort their child because the child was developmentaly disabled, even if they knew in advance, as Mrs. Palin did.

Just because someone is pro-choice doesn’t mean they will have an abortion if the child is conceived at an inconvient time of there is something wrong with the child. It just means, the woman wants and has the right to choose what happens to her body.

From what I’ve read Bristol’s boyfriend sounds like a foul mouthed jerk. I guess she likes the bad boys. Now that her un-married 17 year old daughter is pregnant, I would hope that Mrs. Palin will re-think the whole “no sex ed” stance. Clearly abstanence isn’t working for that family.

Women as well as minorities have struggled for so long for equal opportunity. Why throw that away just to see someone like them in office. This is the reason why women where so passionate about Hillary. Because she truly represented the modern day women. She was one bad (let me shut my mouth) women. I supported Hillary because I thought she was a better candidate. She lost. Oh well. Move on. This is America. Run again in 4 years.

I don’t think Sarah Palin should pay for the sins of her daughter but I do think she should pay for throwing her kids under a bus just to suit her own ambitions. She knew that her and her family’s private life would be exposed and could have waited another four years when her family situation was better to run for VP. I can only imagine what that teen is going through right now and the news of a marriage certainly doesn’t make it better. When you go back to work THREE DAYS after delivering a Down Syndrome baby then YOU ARE NOT MOTHER OF THE YEAR!!! She didn’t have to be there. Government workers get maternity leave and a Down syndrome baby needs special care. Who know the level of brain function at this point? The kid could be doing this like feeding by instinct or has some brain function to direct its action…but at THREE DAYS YOU DON’T KNOW. You can’t leave someone else to care for your 3-day-old baby unless you yourself are hospitalized. What’s the point of choosing to have the baby if you do not choose to take care of it.

I feel sorry for Levi. My guess is he was not planning on getting married. So now, in the interests of politics, two teenagers lives are being paraded for the whole country to comment on. They are facing enough challenges without having such close scrutiny. It is beyond naive that the McCain campaign didn’t think this would get any attention from the press.

The double standard is that Sarah Palin acted like it was a dirty secret and tried to hide it.. not being forth coming.. should have had the father up there to begin with and not pulling the game of trying to hide her daughters pregnant belly with a human shield (Trig) or baby blankets.

If she had done the right thing to begin with then it wouldn’t have been an issue at all. She should have been forth coming.. its not like they would have EVER gotten away with hiding something like that for long. And when you are telling everyone and about to enforce laws to force others to live your morals.. then it is our business is your values fail your own daughter.

Either be transparent and proud of your daughter.. or admit you think you F’d up and don’t include her up there… and change your view point to assist others in her predicament (she won’t.. the programs for pregnant Alaskan girls will stay unfunded and cut from the budget that was padded by her hanging on to the bridge t nowhere..she was for it before she was against it..so she could keep the money). .

WHAT? Say that to the family that used to be our neighbors. They were middle class now below the poverty level.. they had a beautiful home and good jobs. The stay at home mom was diagnosed with cancer, the father lost his job when they decided to ship the majority of the jobs to call centers over seas, the sub prime mortgage kicked in and they lost the house, had to give the family dog away (the family that took him fell on their own hard times and he ended up at the pound) cause the only place they could find that would allow a foreclosure on their credit report is the same one that accepts felons released from prison (but no dogs). Nice place to raise a two children whose life just turned up side down. She lost her medical insurance through his company and now the medical bills are hurting them so badly.. she may give up and stop treatment for the cancer all together.

I think of them all the time and when I come home and pass their house empty, bank owned, falling into disrepair and so so so empty where they kids used to play…. horrible horrible.

Foreclosures in this state are up 200%.. where are all of these people going to go?? The government is more than willing to bail out the greedy banks that wrote these bad loans..but not the people who trusted what they were told?

Those look to be some self-reliant, rugged men in the Palin family. Of course, living in Alaska isn’t that easy. Don’t believe there are any sissy boys there - unlike some of the elite media that seem to relish digging into everything - decency be damned - about this candidate and her family…A 17 year old girl pregnant? Oh my? (so was Mary 2,000 years ago). A dashing fiance that is only 18? Why that can’t be - he hasn’t been to Harvard yet…

It’s fun to see a be-fuddled elite media. Their confusion manifests itself in outright attacks. Because they don’t understand everyday America and THEY are out of touch.

This is how generations of people existed prior to the women’s movement that “enabled” so many women to forgo kids and husband until - shazam - it was too late. Or they were too narcistic (think Sex & the City…).

My money is on McCain-Palin. OK, he’s a little old, and the Vietnam War was a long time ago. He’s a bonafide American Hero however (BHO/Biden don’t compare), his ideas closer to center, and Sarah Palin adds much to the ticket, including that she is what 51% of Americans are. Women. Proud Women that will identify with her ascending to power, as well as the everyday qualities she has.

BHO - Obamamessiah - meanwhile, ridicules people without his education - affimative action at work - and erudite qualities. He ridicules whites, gun owners, believers, and proud American’s in general.

I know Sarah Palin and her family personally. Googling around I found this blog and others like it.

I don’t know why I’m even responding to these comments, but they really bother me knowing what I know. So here I go:

#1 The churches that claim to be her churches are NOT HER CHURCH, she attended one for a very short time years and years ago and she attends a church in Juneau only for practical purposes. There are only a few churches to choose from in Juneau.
She attends my church with her family and has never claimed to be perfect as long as I’ve known her. Check out http://www.wasillabible.org. You won’t find any kooky fringe groups there.

#2 She is a FANTASTIC MOTHER, but she is also an amazingly gifted politician. She is called to public duty and Todd has agreed to be the primary parent while she fulfills her duty.

#3 Bristol is on the tail end of a terrible MIDDLE-CHILD REBELLION and has to face the consequences of her actions. Sarah has worked very hard to get her back on track, even sending her to a different high school to get her away from the influences she chose to be around. No mother has any control over what attitude a 16 year old girl develops in a split second. Sarah knew Bristol was sexually active and that she was pregnant. ( I am a stay-at-home mom, an open minded communicative, protective, engaged Christian woman and just found my teenagers sneaking and lying just under my watchful nose. ALL CHILDREN DO THIS!! Some just get caught in one way or another, hopefully before it’s too late.)

#4 Sarah does not PREACH ABSTINENCE! She believes that sex education is necessary. She just does not advocate government funded birth control distribution in schools for goodness sake!

Question: If you were told you were the only one who could and would do the job of VP and you were the one they wanted badly, the one who could change things and you genuinely believed that the public would judge you on your record and policies and your family would be embraced and accepted at face value, what would you do?

SARAH IS SO BRAVE it brings me to tears and sits me down when I see the way she deals with everything on her plate with perfect grace, boldness, fairness, and balance.
