Bristol Palin: Levi Johnston, Meet John McCain

Any interest or respect I may have had for Palin was lost when she knowingly made her daughter the unwitting posterchild for pro-life / family values. No way a mother looking at that kid did not know she was pregnant when she accepted the nomination.

That girl is plastered all over, every move she ever made, scrutinized and held up to ridicule, all because her mother could not decline the nomination even while knowing her daughter would be the target of this.

So she is going to force the kids marry to show just how terrific family values are?

While they will get the support of both families?

Neither family knew enough about the kids not to know they were ******** around. Palin claims she just found out her daughter is pregnant when the photos CLEARY show it.

The support will be financial, which as at least something. Since Palin will be paid by tax payers it is akin to a welfare payment to a mother in a government work program.

As far as other candidates kids not being under scrutiny? I remember very clearly all the attacks on Chelsea Clinton when she was 12 because of her looks. She was a model student and level headed, but I remember that drug lovin’ , former welfare recipient, Limbaugh specifically holding up that little girl’s picture and making fun of “the new Whitehouse dog”.

The press attacked the Bush girl’s for their DUIs etc. Although they got hushed up pretty quickly.

This girl is a walking advertisement for EDUCATION about sex and birth control.

If your kid thinks they are mature enough to have an adult relationship then have them act maturely and give them the facts, so that they can decide based on facts concerning all the risks, economic changes, physical changes and personal sacrifice that they might be in for.

If you teach your kids to think they make good decisions.

First it was a high lever Democratic strategist Susan Estrich that said it not a poll, but as a Republican woman from California I know a lot of Democratic women who are very political active and 60% of them are going to vote for McCain in November.

So my empirical knowledge syncs up with what I’m reading and hearing on the news.

Also Razorback…..have you ever heard of The Bradly effect? Well it has to do with over polling and Obama is overpolled a lot in the Democratic primary so don’t get too excited about his poll numbers.

Also, point of fact after Obama took the lead in February he actually received less of the popular vote than Hillary, she just couldn’t catch up in the delegate count.

Which is unprecedented in politics because once you have a leader in Super Tuesday their lead grows it doesn’t diminsh like it did with Obama.

I think this race could be close but I think you need to brace yourself that Obama/Biden has a very real chance of losing in November and big.

Rev. Wright, Fr. Pfleger, Tony Rezko, William Ayers, lack of executive experience, no foreign experience are all anchors that will get even heavier.

# 65 Ellie @ 09/03/2008 at 4:32 pm #10. I’m glad I’m not the only one who noticed that Mrs. Palin hasn’t been photographed holding her baby. Now I realize that I haven’t seen every picture of her, but the latest pics that have come out always show someone else holding the baby.

Another thing I don’t understand (and granted I don’t understand a lot of things) is why the pro-life community is making such a big deal about her decision to keep her son, when she knew he had Down’s Syndrome? I’m sure that there are pro-choice women out there that would not abort their child because the child was developmentaly disabled, even if they knew in advance, as Mrs. Palin did.

Precisely! I am fiercely pro-education and pro-choice and I made the exact same decision!

I do not like Obama either.

I am voting independently for the candidate that best matches my view.

Maybe if more people took the constitution seriously, that we have a responsibility to change our government when it no longer serves our best interests, then we could accually get someone in their that wants to lead and views the job as PUBLIC SERVICE rather than a monarchy.

I love that picture of them with Bristol obviously already pregnant and segregated from the family as an outsider. You know they already knew and had written her off.. body language says a lot.

Now she will be the cautionary tale to the other girls they still have faith in… see what happened to your sister? Her life is now over.. she is chained to that loser Levi for the rest of her life. Here comes a GED.. no prom no graduation, no parties, no college unless it is community and part time. You want that to happen to you? Do you want to watch all your friends your age having fun and going off to school while you stay up all night with a crying child? Don’t pull a Bristol!!!

But it is ok to parade her around as an excellent example of modesty and family values to my teenage daughter… who if pregnant wouldn’t be protected by a governor’s medical insurance or payroll. NICE! Thanks a lot!! And since Palin cut the funding for programs benefiting teenage mothers in Alaska.. screw any of you there with daughter who might make the same mistakes hers did..

You know those republicans.. lead only those who believe EXACTLY as we do.. Reprent only those who can pay into the system, Champion only the rich and privileged!! No money.. you’re on your own honey!! Good luck and once you have some money..then maybe we will pay attentions to ya!!

So, ebmo, not being ashamed of her daughter equals forcing her to be a poster child? Well, I guess she could have hid her at home or shipped her off to a distant relative’s house until this was all over, but how would that have been viewed? She’s in a tough spot - she can’t win either way.

I’ll say it again, everything said on this thread is based on assumptions. These two young adults could very easily have made the decision to do what THEY thought was right and get married once they found out she was pregnant - it wouldn’t be the first time in history, you know. I love how Sarah Palin is responsible for apparently every decision made within her household as if human beings don’t have free will and she doesn’t have a husband who co-parents with her.

Obama’s mother was unwed when she got pregnant with him.

I find it embarrassing that Sarah Palin is going to be the face of the modern women. Palin is supposed to represent the face of the future yet her own daughter is stuck in some 1950’s time warp. She will be married and with a husband by age 17…what does that say about her future in this world. Do you really think she is going to be going to college, getting a degree and changing our world with a child? I realize this is Palin’s daughter and not actually Palin herself but frankly apples don’t fall far from trees. I would hope that the first female VP would be avidly promoting the possiblities and opportunites for young teen girls by leading by example with her own childern and family. Instead, sadly we see the exact opposite. She is parading around her daughter whose future is suddenly shrinking. Sarah Palin would be an example for all americans if she were to be elected and sadly it is a poor poor example of what women represent. I hope that teen girls around the US look at this with disgust and know that they are better than being forced to give birth to a child and marry at such a young age.

Noonan, Murphy trash Palin on hot mic: ‘It’s over’

After a segment with NBC’s Chuck Todd ended today, Republican consultant Mike Murphy and Wall Street Journal columnist Peggy Noonan were caught on a live mike ridiculing the choice of Sarah Palin.

“It’s over,” said Noonan, and then responded to a question of whether Palin is the most qualified Republican woman McCain could have chosen.

“The most qualified? No. I think they went for this — excuse me — political bullsh** about narratives,” she said. “Every time Republicans do that … because that’s not where they live and it’s not what they’re good at and they blow it.”

Murphy chimed in:

“The greatness of McCain is no cynicism, and this is cynical.”

A Governor of Alaska is trash but Obama from a single mother who got knocked up at 18 from a Kenyan who was married at the time, Obama who has a grandmother living in a hut in Kenya, AOL saw her on CNN proudly show off her tiny one room hovel, Obama who has over a dozen half brothers and sisters scattered around the world, because his father was muslim so he had more then one wife, a step brother on British T. V talking about how he lives on a dollar a day and is addicted to drugs to get by. Obama who met is dead beat father once, Obama who admitted to coke and other hard drugs in college do I have to go on because there is a lot more You Obama supporters are so ridiculous going for the trash and experience argument,

What I think is sad is that women like Abby thinks that she is parading her daughter around yet probably thinks Obama parading his daughters around and using them for many, many photo ops is fine and dandy.

Such a double standard. Bristol Palin I’m sure is pretty happy for her mom’s success. Plus it’s a pretty strong statement that she would still be up there with her mom even though she is going thru a hard time.

Good for mother and daughter showing the world they stand together in tough times.

She knew that her and her family’s private life would be exposed and could have waited another four years when her family situation was better to run for VP.

EXACTLY!!! What kind of a horror of a mother does this to her child?!?

Regardless of what the press or opposing parties are doing, we each have an individual responsibility to the children we brought into this world.

She IS a politician, she knows how the games is played and she knows the possibilities, she simply did not care.

She is no better than a mother who knows the risks of leaving her child in a closed car in a hot summer sun.

It does no good to ask the sun not to shine and it does no good to ask the press not to investigate.

I really feel sorry for that kid.
