Republican presidental hopeful John McCain greets his running mate’s pregnant teenage daughter Bristol Palin and her fiancé Levi Johnston at the Minneapolis-Saint Paul International Airport on Wednesday in Bloomington, Minnesota. The entire Palin family was at the airport to greet McCain and his family as they arrived for the Republican National Convention.

The double standard is that Sarah Palin acted like it was a dirty secret and tried to hide it.. not being forth coming.. should have had the father up there to begin with and not pulling the game of trying to hide her daughters pregnant belly with a human shield (Trig) or baby blankets.
If she had done the right thing to begin with then it wouldn’t have been an issue at all. She should have been forth coming.. its not like they would have EVER gotten away with hiding something like that for long. And when you are telling everyone and about to enforce laws to force others to live your morals.. then it is our business is your values fail your own daughter.
Either be transparent and proud of your daughter.. or admit you think you F’d up and don’t include her up there… and change your view point to assist others in her predicament (she won’t.. the programs for pregnant Alaskan girls will stay unfunded and cut from the budget that was padded by her hanging on to the bridge t nowhere..she was for it before she was against it..so she could keep the money). .
But now its too late.. day late and a dollar short. Now they are covering their blunder.
Peggy Noonan also said this, which is empirically true of the MSM and a lot of the bloggers here at Just Jared:

Such a double standard. Bristol Palin I’m sure is pretty happy for her mom’s success. Plus it’s a pretty strong statement that she would still be up there with her mom even though she is going thru a hard time.

Oh yeah! They are close…you can tell that by:
1) She could not even talk to her mother about sex.
2) Her mother claims not to have known she was sexually active.
3) Her mother claims not to have known she was pregnant (when the
photos made it patently obvious before it was even announced.
No she is not going to have any resentment for her mother spreading her personal life all over the front pages.
I am sure her new husband won’t have any resentment about being forced into marriage to protect his mother in law’s career.

Because Sarah Palin is in a high-profile powerful job, she automatically is a hateful, controlling, power-hungry, tyranical mother? I really hope you aren’t a woman. None of the children in these pictures looks terribly unhappy AND if you notice, Bristol and Levi are not the only ones photographed. Jared chose to post the pictures that focus on them - you do realize that, right? The MEDIA and these silly blogs are the ones who are putting the spotlight on Bristol Palin and we are letting them.

WHAT? Say that to the family that used to be our neighbors. They were middle class now below the poverty level.. they had a beautiful home and good jobs. The stay at home mom was diagnosed with cancer, the father lost his job when they decided to ship the majority of the jobs to call centers over seas, the sub prime mortgage kicked in and they lost the house, had to give the family dog away (the family that took him fell on their own hard times and he ended up at the pound) cause the only place they could find that would allow a foreclosure on their credit report is the same one that accepts felons released from prison (but no dogs). Nice place to raise a two children whose life just turned up side down. She lost her medical insurance through his company and now the medical bills are hurting them so badly.. she may give up and stop treatment for the cancer all together.
I think of them all the time and when I come home and pass their house empty, bank owned, falling into disrepair and so so so empty where they kids used to play…. horrible horrible.
Foreclosures in this state are up 200%.. where are all of these people going to go?? The government is more than willing to bail out the greedy banks that wrote these bad loans..but not the people who trusted what they were told?

You know nothing of my world view, my educational background or my profession.
The nature of this “entertainment blog” makes it ridiculous for me to post credentials here.
I am well informed. Had you read my earlier posts you would have seen that I do NOT support Obama either.
I support our constitutional right to overthrow our government when it no longer serves the people.
We are not getting representation.
Public office was never intended by the founding fathers to be a life time career, yet we see the same faces put in office over and over again. We see the same appointments, the same graft and corruption.
I am voting independently, as is not only my right as an American citizen, but my responsibility.
Yes, yes, I know, my daughter tells me I am throwing away my vote, and I respond:
If more people were not afraid to think for themselves, gather information for themselves and vote according to conscience rather than the same tired old crap put in front of us by the two parties, we might actually have a democracy!

Those look to be some self-reliant, rugged men in the Palin family. Of course, living in Alaska isn’t that easy. Don’t believe there are any sissy boys there - unlike some of the elite media that seem to relish digging into everything - decency be damned - about this candidate and her family…A 17 year old girl pregnant? Oh my? (so was Mary 2,000 years ago). A dashing fiance that is only 18? Why that can’t be - he hasn’t been to Harvard yet…
It’s fun to see a be-fuddled elite media. Their confusion manifests itself in outright attacks. Because they don’t understand everyday America and THEY are out of touch.
This is how generations of people existed prior to the women’s movement that “enabled” so many women to forgo kids and husband until - shazam - it was too late. Or they were too narcistic (think Sex & the City…).
My money is on McCain-Palin. OK, he’s a little old, and the Vietnam War was a long time ago. He’s a bonafide American Hero however (BHO/Biden don’t compare), his ideas closer to center, and Sarah Palin adds much to the ticket, including that she is what 51% of Americans are. Women. Proud Women that will identify with her ascending to power, as well as the everyday qualities she has.
BHO - Obamamessiah - meanwhile, ridicules people without his education - affimative action at work - and erudite qualities. He ridicules whites, gun owners, believers, and proud American’s in general.

I know Sarah Palin and her family personally. Googling around I found this blog and others like it.
I don’t know why I’m even responding to these comments, but they really bother me knowing what I know. So here I go:
#1 The churches that claim to be her churches are NOT HER CHURCH, she attended one for a very short time years and years ago and she attends a church in Juneau only for practical purposes. There are only a few churches to choose from in Juneau.
She attends my church with her family and has never claimed to be perfect as long as I’ve known her. Check out http://www.wasillabible.org. You won’t find any kooky fringe groups there.
#2 She is a FANTASTIC MOTHER, but she is also an amazingly gifted politician. She is called to public duty and Todd has agreed to be the primary parent while she fulfills her duty.
#3 Bristol is on the tail end of a terrible MIDDLE-CHILD REBELLION and has to face the consequences of her actions. Sarah has worked very hard to get her back on track, even sending her to a different high school to get her away from the influences she chose to be around. No mother has any control over what attitude a 16 year old girl develops in a split second. Sarah knew Bristol was sexually active and that she was pregnant. ( I am a stay-at-home mom, an open minded communicative, protective, engaged Christian woman and just found my teenagers sneaking and lying just under my watchful nose. ALL CHILDREN DO THIS!! Some just get caught in one way or another, hopefully before it’s too late.)
#4 Sarah does not PREACH ABSTINENCE! She believes that sex education is necessary. She just does not advocate government funded birth control distribution in schools for goodness sake!
Question: If you were told you were the only one who could and would do the job of VP and you were the one they wanted badly, the one who could change things and you genuinely believed that the public would judge you on your record and policies and your family would be embraced and accepted at face value, what would you do?
SARAH IS SO BRAVE it brings me to tears and sits me down when I see the way she deals with everything on her plate with perfect grace, boldness, fairness, and balance.
My little girls are watching…and yours are too.

Only someone who knows nothing about the economy can utter such a contradictary foolish statement.
Psst, foreclosures happen because people can’t make their mortgage payments not because government does anything.
If government didn’t bail out these greedy (and I would add stupid) that make irresponsible loans to people who can’t afford it, then who would. No one and that’s the way it should be.
And why is that, because it’s with your tax dollars. Why should we pay for an institusions bad lending judgements.
It would be better to let the market self correct it. Maybe by having stronger banks take on the defaulted loans, work with the homeowners to refinance them.
That’s the Republican way. Democrats treat citizens like babies.

I do not know if they are happy or unhappy, I was arguing the assumption that someone ELSE made about how “Happy” Bristol is for her mother.

wow; all this unusual interest in the children of a candidate. as a canadian i have always thought that the whoe american presidential election process is nuts. some of the people on this post have proven me right. in the united states the whole process from start to finish takes what; almost two years. not only that; the candidate must put up with irriating intrusions into their personal lives. if mcain becomes president the vice president’s name will be sarah palin not bristol palin. her record as governor of alaska and/or her political beliefs are up for grabs; but the children; please people get a grip. it’s a wonder any sane person wants to go through that process.
our prime minister harper is sending signals that we’re going to have a federal election. For a general election, the Governor General (at the request of the Prime Minister) dissolves Parliament, and the Governor in Council (the Governor General acting on the advice of Cabinet) sets the date of the election and the date by which returning officers must return the writs
A writ is a formal document directing a returning officer to conduct an election in his or her electoral district, and on which the returning officer writes the name of the winning candidate after election day. By law, the time between the issue of the writs and election day must be at least 36 days. general elections usually last 36 days. that’s right; 36 days after the election is called we will either have returned prime minister harper’s government to power or we will have a new government. life will then continue on until the next election.
in the election process there will be little, if any, discussion on the subject of an individual candidate’s partner , children, grandchildren, and/or religion. that’s because all of that is none of our business. we don’t make a habit of involving the partner, children, grand children in the process. if a 17 year old candidate’s daughter gets pregnant that is an issue for the mother and father. how they deal with the problem is their concern; not ours.
i cannot tell you the name of prime minister harper’s wife and or children. nor can i tell you what mrs harper thinks on various issues. but then i don’t care to know. i’m voting for the man (i live in his riding) not for his wife or children. what church he goes to, if he goes, is also not my concern either.
John McCain is older than Alaska…
…and by the way, if familes are not a part of the picture, why did he tip off photogs and make such a big ******’ deal about meeting the babydaddy?

Sarah has such an Everywoman quality. She is both blue collar and white collar. Elegant and casual.
I think once we hear her voice more instead of all this gutter, reckless, vicious news reporting America is going to fall in love with this woman.
