Emma Watson is a National Movie Award Angel

Emma Watson (in Alexander McQueen) poses at the National Movie Awards at the Royal Festival Hall on Monday in London, England.

The Harry Potter star has reportedly dished out £1 million on a ski chalet in the fashionable French resort of Meribel, according to The Telegraph.

“The house is Emma’s way of celebrating her recent straight As at A-level and finally getting her hands on some of her hard-earned cash. She worked really hard this year and didn’t have much of a birthday party so this was her present to herself,” a friend said.

“Like her co-stars, Emma has received some pretty sound advice about money. She always wanted a ski chalet and she’s having a great time doing it up. She’s looking forward to having friends to stay.”

Miss Herrigon

One question: what century were you born in?? And I have something else to add… if England is so ‘proper’ then how come starlets like Keira Knightley always smile and stop for paps… and that Pakistani comment, was just rude… I’m not from Pakistan or anywhere from there.. I was born and raised in the States… But I do have one friend who IS from there and I don’t think he would excatly appreciate the totally racist comment…. “Miss Herrigon”

are you kidding me? red carpet events for movies or movie festivals have always been an event for photographers to take pictures of celebrities. haven’t you ever seen old black and white pictures of stars like marilyn monroe getting all glammed up for the red carpet? it was intended for photographers to get pictures to put in magazines that were the predecessors to US Weekly and OK Magazine. it used to be the only way people could see their favorite celebrities before the paparazzi, perez, or entertainment tonight. now it’s evolved or (devolved some might say) to have people chronicle who wore it better or who has an eating disorder.

if it’s only intent was to get inside the building, there would be no red carpet. instead there would just be a covered entrance and they’d walk in. when celebrities go to events like these they are INTENDING to have their picture taken, not having their privacy violated like when paparazzi helicopter overhead during weddings. they know that by having their picture taken they’re promoting their movie, cd, or whatever. if they just wanted to avoid the red carpet they could have their handlers arrange it and go the back entrance. it’s been done before, and if emma really didn’t want to walk the red carpet, she could have said something. like you said, she was probably just uncomfortable, but even if so, she does smile awkwardly. but whatever, so does tons of people.

you act like they intended to “get” her. most of these people are press photographers, not paparazzi, which entails different skills in getting a picture. most of them call out, “look over here emma! over here! look over your shoulder! smile! smile at me emma” They want good, happy photos to sell. Paparazzi always call out stuff to get a rise out of celebrities to have that one picture where the celebrity’s frowning, or post-sneeze so they can say, “Jessica’s heartbreak!” or “Mary-Kate, back on drugs!” The more controversial looking, the better.

british don’t fawn over paparazzi? ever hear of someone called katie price/jordan? amy winehouse? lily allen? victoria beckham?
americans may not be any better, but don’t act like the brits don’t have their own need for attention.

and the fact that you brought in ethncity to your argument by saying “pakistani pap” says more about you than anything else.

she is hot!!!
awesome!
I love her!!

Beautiful.

However, that dress is so not right for her.

Straight As, huh. Good girl. And she’s spending it very wisely and rewarding herself. Good to know.

About the Jordin Sparks comment, I agree with her. However, people should not make any more misinterpretation about what she said. Just bcoz some teenagers are having sex, doesn’t mean that they’re ***** especially if they are in a relationship and at a legal age.

I agree with #4 & #5.

She BUGS me.

What do you guys think she’s doing in pic #18, if that isn’t a smile, then what is? Also, we have no idea what the reporters/papz are yelling at her since there isn’t a video, they could have been really rude and then I’m not surprised that she would feel uncomfortable.

I think she looked beautiful in the dress and I hope that she had a good time, I was so happy that she won last year and I hope that there will be a video be because I think that I read that she was presenting or something.

how about indigestion? This is not usual bubbly Emma. She gets paid well and part of her job is appear at red carpet events and to appear as if she’s enjoying it!

Zanessa-love4life @ 09/09/2008 at 3:29 pm

Not really liking her dress.
And isnt it such a big house just for herself, or does she have like family or boyfriend staying with her?
CANT WAIT FOR HP & THE HALF BLOOD PRINCE TO COME OUT!!!!

Beautiful dress, ugly little person wearing it!
She is an awful actrees, she is ugly, she can’t smile!

Doesn’t it look like her head is way too small in the first picture? Maybe it’s because the gown has quite a lot of volume.

nice post, mia!

hmm, that dress is way too frumpy for an 18 yr old (especially one who looks more like a 13 yr old). And the color contrast between her eyebrows and dyed hair always jars me .. .

Good victoria @ 09/09/2008 at 9:32 pm

Emma looks sweet, and her dress is beautiful, except for the sleeves, or those silly hangy-downy things off her shoulders…..It would have been more suited for her, if those things were taken off…..She has said before, that she is NOT comfortable ” as of yet “, of the paparazzi’s taking her picture while posing…That is was “” the tomboy that is still in her “”"……..( read online on another site )…..While it may show a little, she still is adorable, but does NOT need to grow up too fast….

Not flattering. She should give up the fashionista look. She’s failing.

mrs. nick jonas @ 09/11/2008 at 2:18 pm

what a POSTURE. instead of a straight posture like this | her posture is like this / or even worse! it destroys the dress and the smile??? i dont even think its a smile at all! WORST POSTURE EVER!
