Jordin Sparks (in Betsey Johnson) arrives at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards at Paramount Pictures Studios in Los Angeles on Sunday.
The 18-year-old American Idol champ, who finished off her look with Nicole Khristine jewels (Rockstar Earrings and a Faith Ring), sat in the VIP section at the Chateau Marmont after the In Touch Weekly’s Icons and Idols after-party.
The 18-year-old singer spoke out against host Russell Brand for joking about the Jonas Brothers and their purity rings. She told the crowd, ‘I just have one thing to say about promise rings. It’s not bad to wear a promise ring because not everybody – guy or girl – wants to be a slut.”

Obviously people are making opposite interpretations of what she said. Just because she said that not everyone wants to be a **** doesn’t mean that one is especially when they are in a relationship. People are just twisting her statement.
It’s cool that she stood up for it because she believes it also but she is no clueless girl to say that every teenager who have sex is a **** because she has friends who are in relationships. Russell Brand just made it sound so bad. She found it offensive and maybe she was not the only one. Props for her for standing up for that.
Stop with all the hating on her. She was brave to do that.
I am actually a great fan of Jordin. But I think she over reacted this time. Rusell is a comedian and was simply doing his job. He might have said so many things but no need to be mad about. Besides where is this idea of wearing rings to prove one self come from? Where is it written in the bible? Poeple are free about their choices. Wearing a ring is no sign of purity and NOT wearing one does not obviously make you a s–t. Is .Is it not this same person who had an open crush for Chris B? Is she trying to cover her disappointment on others? What would have happened if Chris B.said yes to her? Before you answer this question remember, NEVER SAY NEVER and that NONE IS PERFECT BUT GOD. Jordin is only human. I could sleep with a man during dating,but that does not make me a s–t. Jordin control yourself next time. I hope you maintain the image you are portraying now but as you do so .PRAY A LOT MORE. I wish you Luck

seriously,i cannot understand how anyone thinks this knee jerk reaction ( i hope ) portrays this jordin girl in a good light…at best she comes off as humourless and singularly lacking in tact, at worst she’s downright offensive, ignorant and bigoted against beliefs that differ from hers. either way she seems to have a bit of an overwhelming need for attention. no publicity like provocation, eh? way to grab the headlines, girl!

This just shows that the US is not ready for Russell Brand.. His jokes are too European/British. And I’m just basing this on what people are saying in the comments about how his jokes “weren’t even that funny”. I’m not at all talking about his jokes about the Jonas Brothers.. Although he did just joke, it what we do in Europe.. If you listen to Radio 1, the radio hosts are dissing different people, doing jokes and it’s all just good fun. That’s probably what he meant by doing those jokes about the Jonas Brothers. Russell Brand probably thinks it’s cool that people have purity rings and can hold out until marriage, because he probably can’t understand it. He likes $ex way to much to ever give it up.

Duh if you have sex and your not married then your a $lut there no other anwser. I thinks its great that the jb and Jordan wears one. Isn’t it a little bit exaggerated of her to say everyone who’s not wearing such a ring is a ****. C’mon, this is a PR stunt. The Jonas Brothers are that much virgins as Britney was at the beginning of her career. All these Disney stars have to be nice, happy and virgins in public.
Also it is a litte bit medival to say no sex until marriage. Like Russel said, a little sex doesn’t hurt anybody but practice safer sex.
