Matt Damon just spoke out on Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin to The Associated Press. The 37-year-old actor compares her possibility of being President to a ‘really bad Disney movie’. Ouch!
Damon shared, “I think there’s a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that’s a really scary thing… I don’t know anything about her and in eight weeks, I don’t think I’m going to know anything about her. I know that she was a mayor of a really, really small town and she’s the governor for Alaska for less than two years. I just don’t understand. I think the pick was made for political purposes… Do the actuary tables and there’s a one out of three chance, if not more, that [John] McCain doesn’t survive his first term and it’ll be President Palin… It’s like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom, you know, ‘oh, I’m just a hockey mom’… and she’s facing down Vladimir Putin (of Russia)… It’s totally absurd… it’s a really terrifying possibility.”

What is the most frightening thing about Palin is that the Republican party is not allowing her to be treated as any other presidential or vice presidential candidate. News appearances are protected and guided. If someone asks her a question the party doesn’t like, then the network is punished by being excluded from things.
If Palin is so capable and so able then she should be asked the tough questions that Obama, Biden and McCain are getting. If she is indeed the pit bull in lipstick, then she should be able to answer the questions. Unfortunately she has already incorrectly answered questions due to her inexperience and ignorance. She is one heartbeat away from the presidency and I’ve been a republican most of my life and find this to be terrifying.

She has been treated unlike any other candidate by the media bias she’s been shown. I was watching the news last night and they were fact checking all these rumors about her. They proved multiple times that some of the rumors and such were started by bloggers. One guys admitted to CNN he made stuff up. But it caught attention of the mainstream media and they ran it as a credible source. So if you want to talk about the treatment of Palin? She has been unfairly treated since she was nominated. I can’t accept this woman. She’s too young. She comes across as “fluffy” even tho I’m sure she’s smart. She’s gonna deal with a lot of chauvinist men in these other countries. Palin is too young and too pretty to be taken seriously, that is, if McCain should unfortunately pass on. If McCain is elected, Palin becomes Prez. I can’t see that. I can’t see her as Prez.

As a long long feminist, I am appalled at Sarah Palin as the VP candidate. And though, I am all for a woman in the White House, I want it to be the right woman and Sarah Palin isn’t it. I This woman’s skeletons are jumping out of her closet at such a high rate that I’m worried about what we may learn about her next.
Oh and here is something else to think about. I am a former PTA president of a large elementary school of 750 students and I am a soccer mom, OK, not a hockey mom. I don’t think organizing fund raisers for new playground equipment or running the school book fair or sitting in on school board meetings as a member qualifies me for life in politics. Neither would any small town mayor or being the governor of a state with less than 700,000 people! Let’s be honest with ourselves. She is not YET ready to take on this position. I am not saying I am for Obama b/c I have some concerns about his experience but definitely have HUGE issues with Palin.

That said, Republicans are notorious hypocrites - all anyone needs to do is look at their new campaign strategy to figure that out. McCain’s a real maverick, sure, that’s why he’s voted with Bush 95% of the time. The GOP is just trying to distance themselves from the most unpopular president in recent history, and they think ordinary Americans are too ignorant to look at the facts and see for themselves. The opinion of the US throughout the rest of the world is at an all-time low, and Americans need to elect a president that we as a country can respect, and who also has the ability to garner that same respect on an international level. Thank you Matt Damon for saying what every right thinking American should be saying. I don’t care whether you’re a Democrat or a Republican you should be outraged that McCain chose this woman for VP. He could have chosen a host of qualified women but he went with politics over the good of the country. Instead of worrying about which party she belongs to, ask yourself, should McCain die in office would you trust her to manage 2 wars, the economy, health care, education, etc. It is an outrage and it shows that McCain cares more about winning than he does about the country.

She is against stem-cell research, against abortion even in the case of rape, she doesn’t believe global warming is man-made, she sought to ban library books, and hired lobbying expert to gain pork barreling funds…God Save America, and the earth, for our children.
Mccain didn’t know her well, nor does he agree with her on all the issues, but chose her, without sufficiently vetting her, in what was a blatantly cynical and politically savvy move.
