Matt Damon just spoke out on Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin to The Associated Press. The 37-year-old actor compares her possibility of being President to a ‘really bad Disney movie’. Ouch!
Damon shared, “I think there’s a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that’s a really scary thing… I don’t know anything about her and in eight weeks, I don’t think I’m going to know anything about her. I know that she was a mayor of a really, really small town and she’s the governor for Alaska for less than two years. I just don’t understand. I think the pick was made for political purposes… Do the actuary tables and there’s a one out of three chance, if not more, that [John] McCain doesn’t survive his first term and it’ll be President Palin… It’s like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom, you know, ‘oh, I’m just a hockey mom’… and she’s facing down Vladimir Putin (of Russia)… It’s totally absurd… it’s a really terrifying possibility.”

Wow Matt, you sound really presidential yourself. Maybe you should run. You probably have as many qualifications as Obama.!! After all, you can’t be a former governor or “soccer mom” to assume a president’s responsibilities, right?
This man is obviously dumb! If he doesn’t know anything about Palin, what right does he have to judge? Oh, wait he must be another “enlightened” Democrat…. let’s show the Dems we couldn’t care less about how many celebrities they recruit. And, btw, Damon, Garner, Johanson and all the Dems on the Obama side are people I won’t feed by going to see their movies. How’s that for a start? LOOSERS.
Who are the people commenting here? Kit, Leni and others are so angrily deriding someone for expressing himself — who are you? Are you Americans? Do we live in the same country? The one where discourse about politics and freedom is supposed to be open, honest and free? It sounds from your comments that you live in a U.S. where any dissent is deemed unpatriotic (or out-of-bounds for certain people); the kind of U.S. where war is waged without reason and politicians like Bush, Cheney AND Palin, spend all their time “positioning” themselves rather than discussing real issues. I don’t like that version of America, frankly. And, if that’s the country you want, I don’t think we live in the same place at all.

“Stick to movies Matt”. Are you actually serious? He’s a citizen of the United States and he has EVERY RIGHT to voice his opinion on politics. It’s called freedom of speech, its called a registered voter, its called he’s absolutely correct. Who gets to decide that because he’s an actor that automatically means he has no idea what he’s talking about? McCain and his running mate are looking to go backwards, removing the woman’s right to choose, upping our role in the war. etc. This is about the next four years, not the past 40. The whole reason McCain chose Palin is to show how absurd an Obama presidency is. At least there is a heart beat between Palin and the presidency, while the Dems would put someone as unqualified as Obama straight into the White House without batting an eye.. Your comment is right on. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and hopefully it isn’t a spoon-fed media version. That said, Republicans are notorious hypocrites - all anyone needs to do is look at their new campaign strategy to figure that out. McCain’s a real maverick, sure, that’s why he’s voted with Bush 95% of the time. The GOP is just trying to distance themselves from the most unpopular president in recent history, and they think ordinary Americans are too ignorant to look at the facts and see for themselves. The opinion of the US throughout the rest of the world is at an all-time low, and Americans need to elect a president that we as a country can respect, and who also has the ability to garner that same respect on an international level. I really don’t think that’s going to happen with McCain, the war-loving ‘maverick,’ and if he dies, we’re left with Palin. A laughable choice for a vice president or president. I’m with Matt on this one.

i agree. this woman is being introduced to us and we have 8 weeks to get to know her as opposed to the 18 months we have had to get to know other candidates. it is scary abortion banned in casees of rape and incest? creationism? president palin? hope you guys are ready for that disaster. we know nothing of her and there is a clear reason why mccain won’t let her speak: he knows we won’t like her views and he knows she may not know much. she did not go to harvard. she was a hockey mom. at least condoleeza rice would have been a brilliant mind and one people know. as a long term democrat - i would have less issues with rice on the ticket but this hockey mom? voting for her cause people think she is pretty and one of them? guess what - she is not one of us. very scary but if americans are comfortable with this then go for it and see our country and rights as women go down the tubes - FAST!
