Matt Damon: Sarah Palin is “Totally Absurd”
Matt Damon just spoke out on Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin to The Associated Press. The 37-year-old actor compares her possibility of being President to a ‘really bad Disney movie’. Ouch!
Damon shared, “I think there’s a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that’s a really scary thing… I don’t know anything about her and in eight weeks, I don’t think I’m going to know anything about her. I know that she was a mayor of a really, really small town and she’s the governor for Alaska for less than two years. I just don’t understand. I think the pick was made for political purposes… Do the actuary tables and there’s a one out of three chance, if not more, that [John] McCain doesn’t survive his first term and it’ll be President Palin… It’s like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom, you know, ‘oh, I’m just a hockey mom’… and she’s facing down Vladimir Putin (of Russia)… It’s totally absurd… it’s a really terrifying possibility.”

Congrats to Damon for voicing what so many of us are feeling right now. Palin’s naive view of the world coupled with her complete and utter lack of foreign experience or exposure (she just got her passport last year, for God’s sake!!) is a terrifying prospect.
Even though I hated Bush, at least he had a shallow knowledge of world events to bring to the White House. Bush’s family is well-connected internationally (hence, the continual support for big oil and Saudi Arabia) so he could bring a little of SOMETHING to the table. Palin is just a hokey, down-home gal who will make the U.S. even more of a laughing stock with our allies and foes if she and old man McCain are elected.
Please God…. no, no, no!
Ms Gunn @ 09/12/2008 at 5:39 pm
tell us please why you keep comparing barak obama with sarah palin. are you asleep at the wheel? how many times do you have be told; john mccain is the republican nominee for president NOT sarah palin. get it!! now let’s see your comparison of obama’s experience with that of john mccain’s. what’s the matter? you noticed that obama’s doesn’t measure up.
Who am I? NOBODY!! But I love to share my Opinion And yours gives me juice to go on so here we go,
Sarah I’ll call her “PAIN” instead of Palin because that is what she is about to become a big PAIN!
She was a Tactical ERROR on McCant’s part! Yes McCant he cant become President because if he does , He will shortly drop over and then guess what folks We got us A President Sarah PAIN, yes folks that’s right! Lets all think about this for a moment, We will have a President that is unclear on most issues and uninformed on ALL issues! She was like a high school student taking an oral quiz on facts of the nationS and failing badly ! she was nervous and very unsure of what to answer, how to answer and when to give the incorrect answer! She was tutored and it surly showed, she needs to fire her tutor and replace with a more intelligent one she has the money to do so!! her answers to Charles Gibson’s questions scared me but then I thought I was just being paranoid until I later watched a variety of News reports & on one Former Gov Tony Knowles Stated that She scared him!, he said this because she had made the comment SO BE IT if we go to War with Russia/Georgia ! As if to say pass me a Kleenex, another statement was “she was out of her depths right now Her responses were Bush Like” made by another commentor, oh mercy I had to agree! This was stated on the Keith Olberman, news report. She said Iraq started 9/11 is she Miss informed or am I confused? it is terrifying to know that she does not know who started the 9/11. She made herself look totally UNINFORMED I am trying to be nice she just actually looked ignorant to any fact they were talking about! Including the bridge to nowhere She out and out Lied and time and time again he called her out on it. He even quoted her! She had to be thankful when the taping was over! Another show had a female guest on it and she had said well she will do better next time NEXT TIME? SHE BETTER KNOW BEFORE HAND! what she don’t know she will learn quickly! OMG come on she needs to KNOW NOW!!!!! Please people McCant has sucked you into a Vacuum of confusion , He has knocked you all off Balance like fighters in a boxing match and your shaking your heads and going to get it together in a matter of Minutes ! Your standing up AGAIN with your minds clearly focused on the actuality …..of this “PAIN” u r about to have AGAIN! you MUST see the realization in all of this! McCant does not care about this country as much as he says in his speaking, he cares about winning this fight no matter what means he has to use! And this time it was a WANNA be of Hillary Clinton, She will Never compare! You know this and I know this, I then started thinking I cant believe she out and out lied like she did she is SUPPOSE to be a Christian, hmmm, Well lets think back a few years ago to one of the greatest Presidents we have ever had ! Bad Boy Clinton I ‘ll call him! President Bill Clinton was accused by a angry intern and then later admitted to having a little stogie on the side which in my opinion was no ones business they were 2 consenting adults! The Republicans had a field day with him trying to get him impeached Yet they offer VP to a Woman who is suppose to be a Christian and Cheated on her husband ! What hypocrites!! They are!! I think the Bible calls this ADULTRY ! isn’t that a SIN Mrs. “PAIN” I guess They live on a DS = Double standards! They are hypocrites! I feel she probably picks and chooses which scripture works best in her life at the moment! If he cant do it she cant do it that should be the end to this drama but its not…………Now talking about McCant He is going to start TAXING us for our health care that we already can NOT AFFORD as if it was a purchase made from Wally World (Wal-Mart)!! He says Victory to the war! We will see Victory!! well yippee its only costing us 12 BILLION dollars a MONTH with no strategic end point? I don’t know about you but I McCAN’T afford to hear that!!! Obama wants to find a way to end it! Obama knows we as Americans are hurting financially. He knows that Millions of folks are losing their homes and filing Bankruptcy, He knows We cant afford health insurance! Obama is going to give 95% of Americans A Tax break! Obama is going to give tax Breaks to Corporations that keep there companies HERE in America where the jobs are NEEDED!! McCant is going to give tax breaks to those corps who ship there companies over seas leaving more Americans UNEMPLOYED! Yep that’s more Drama ya all must like the Drama if You want McCan’t/Pain in there!! I cant see any reason to vote for them. About the Bible the Bible says tho shall not bear false witness against thy neighbor! McCant has told Lies about Senator Obama and Miss “PAIN” has agreed with them ! This team represents the very example of evil. !!
I HAVE ANOTHER,,,I forgot to add this a bit ago………………GO MATT YA KNOW WHAT YOU ARE SAYING!!! I HEAR YA AND 100% AGREE

That seems like enough experience to me. And do I want someone who claims he is change but mirrors Bush 90%? Is 10 % fruit juice good enough? Do I want a hot head who has a temper and his rash quick to act and not to think cohort running this country?
Or do I want a negotiator. Someone with empathy. With a love for all Americans making the decisions for the ext 4 to 8 years? With a knowledgeable VP at his side?
Let the democrats fix the mess the republicans have made again.. let us get the country back on track and start to heal relations with the rest of the world, get the economy back on track, get the housing situation under control, get health care and social security fixed and then we can hand the healing country back to you to wreck it all over again.
to she was a gimmick @ 09/13/2008 at 4:48 pm
oh yes please by all means get the country back on track. as if we tax payers don’t have enough problems of our own. what with paying down our own mortgages. what with feeding, clothing and educating our children. never mind the money we have to spend for our children’s dental and medicals bills.
now you democrats want us to shell out money to pay off the mortgages that other people took out and defaulted on. instead of forcing these seemingly adult individuals to be responsible for their own debt we the tax payers have to cover their mortgages saying “there, there, you bought houses you couldn’t afford but not to worry we the state witll take care of you”
oh and of course, you democrats also insist that we tax payers have to pay for the education and health needs of children that aren’t own own. i mean it’s difficult enough making sure our kids make it through to college; you want us to pay for someone else’s child as well. no need to be financially responsible for your own when the state will pay for everything; why didn’t i think of that. here i thought that i and my husband, as responsible adults, are the ones who should take care of the financial, educational and health needs of our own children.
like I said EL, accomplishments outside of himself.
1. Putin is the Prime Minister, not the president.
2. Palin is running for VP, not the president.
3. Matt Damon obviously discriminates against women.
4. Matt Damon obviously discriminate against small town people.
5. Matt Damon obviously discriminates against older people.
6. If Obama wins and dies before term, guess who will be president? AN OLD PERSON! lol Biden will be 67 in November.
He is only 5 years younger than McCain! lol
Matt Damon says there is a 1 in 3 chance McCain will not survive the presidency…lol, meaning Matt believes anyone over 70 will not make it 4 more years! I have to tell my 80 year old mother that one and my 99 year old grandmother. lol
I wonder how old Matt’s mother is. She may not have too much time left. Fact is if Obama wins, he will have a 1 in 2 chance to survive his term simply because he has so many people who have threatened his life already. Matt, here is news for you; People die every day at every age. It’s not just old people.
Therefore in light of all Matt said, I came to one solid conclusion.
Matt Damon hates women and old people. lol
Final thought:
If a man can hate women, (his mother and his wife) and old people (his mother, his father and his grandfather), that means racism is not such a stretch guys. He is in Haiti trying hard to prove otherwise. Give me a break, Matt. You are a moron and a fake. I am going through my DVD collection now and if he is in it, he is trash.
P.S. I never thought you were cute. Your head is ginormous and there is nothing in it.
Matt Damon also hates soup. I myself LOVE soup. And even if Matt shared an affinity for soup like me, I’d still hate Matt Damon.

ITA, Rosana!
I’m also disappointed in Matt Damon, but I’m not throwing out his Jason Bourne DVDs. I like them, so I just ignore his sexist outburst.
I suppose you know McCain’s mother is 96!
Nobody knows when they’ll go. It’s morbid and funny at the same time how Sarah Palin’s critics keep hammering on her becoming the president because they seem to somehow know that McCain won’t survive his first term in office, if they win. Hey, Matt could go before McCain.
Anyway, if they win and Sarah Palin has to take over for whatever reason, she can call on smart people with the necessary expertise. All she has to do is make the right decisions, and women are absolutely able to make great decisions, just like men!!!
The Palin trick is working…! Apparently, all the naive, apolitical, and ignorant are all coming out of the woodwork “armed(pun intended)” ready to vote for her. I mean, why not vote for Palin…she reminds you of your neighbor next door, right? WRONG. Palin can take her “bridge to nowhere” BS and “soccer mom” nonsense to her next PTA meeting where she belongs…
Don’t defend Sarah Palin unless you can actually state what she will do for this country…and don’t say she will make government smaller and get big gov’t out of the lives of the American people because that is bunch of BS…out of the lives of the people, yet she wants to overturn Roe v Wade and she tries to persuade members of her church to vote republican? How is this getting out of the lives of the American people–Republicans are total HIPOCRITS…the last 8 years were all about the power of the government and not the people…the RNC was a perfect example of what the Republican stand for–”All I care about in this world is my money…don’t raise my taxes. I want my children and grandchildren to continue to fight an unwarranted war… I want to undo all the progress the human and women’s rights movements have accomplished and take away personal choice….”
Palin-posers…why don’t you stick to your original plan and keep watching desperate housewives and your soap operas–why get involved in politics now? Haven’t you learned from the last eight years?
Thanks Matt for speaking out against this poor excuse for a VP pick of the most influential country in the world. What was the GOP thinking? Oh, that’s right they wwern’t. Some folks will do anything for power even if it means selecting someone who is absolutely clueless about the world. God help us if she is elected-former soccer mom.

I’ll give you even a scarier thought……….. Matt Damon holding a political seat. Listening to one of these ‘Punk-Ass-Liberals’, makes me want to puke. What comprises this guy’s environment ……. I’ll tell you…..A bunch of other ‘Like-minded’ , to much time on their hands, sitting around giving their ‘Like-minded’ train of thought that is dictated by the same Movie/Music industry people. Who cares what you think you *******. Just make your movies. It reminds me of that idiot ‘Madonna’, who during the ’80’s’ was preaching to the Mothers…….”Let your under-age daughters have the freedom to choose to wear Victoria secret”. And now that she’s a Mother, all of a sudden she’s this Conservative that would rather lock her kid in her room, rather than let her make a decision for herself . Look!…..Lets be real here……for Christ’s sake……. Do people really idolize these Music/Movie people enough to let them influence how we vote. Come on now……… They are the most Socially inept, uneducated, tunnel visioned and one sided people that exist. If this were another country, they would be considered prejudice. I’ll tell you what Matt…..It will take more than the sight of you passing out aid, to influence the educated. Take a page out of the ‘Clint Eastwood’ / Paul Newman, School of thought. If you want to impress……. Act as a proper influence…….Not just Act. Instead of passing out turkeys, Give several Millions to these people, you can spare it.
RE:
“II will never see another Matt Damon movie again”, “Shut up Matt”
please reference the movie “shut up and sing”
we are all entitled to our opinions
I have looked into the positions and plans espoused by the candidates and I agree strongly with one of them.
Who is it? why do you care who I, or an actor, endorse?
what matters is: WHOSE VIEWS DO YOU AGREE WITH ?
As long as it is an informed, thoughtful decision, I respect your right as a citizen of the USA to choose.
can you say the same?
Hey Artistmom, what makes Obama so great on world affairs? What makes Obama so great on domestic affairs? Did we not see a few weeks ago what he would do in a crisis situation when the Russia/Geogia conflict happened? He didn’t seem to be ready did he? Once again, Gov. Palin is running for Vice President, Sen Obama is running for president. talk about your heart beat away.
I knew there was a reason why I have never seen or had the desire to see any of Matt Demons oh I’m sorry Matt Damons movies. I’m a working soccer mom and proud of it. What has Matt done??? Just a actor or I guess since I haven’t seen any of his movies.
I think it is very enlightening that most of the people slamming Matt for his opinion (and apparently supporting Palin/McCain) used profanity in their responses. Can any of you not think of any better language to use? Is this a indication of the level of intelligence of republicans supporting Palin/McCain? That’s the SCARY thing.

but then when i read of yours what i replied to (below), i don’t see any mention about accomplishments outside of himself.
“Matt Damon aside, to every body out there giving Palin a hard time about her experience, and who she is, my question for you is who the heck is Obama, and what does he bring to the table besides a few speeches written by someone else.”
what am i missing here? sounds very partisan to me….

here is the real answer to your question. read #613.
also, what terrorist organizations are endorsing Obama?
Bjizzle @ 09/13/2008 at 6:56 pm wrote:

here is the real answer to your question. this came from #541
Obama has written 890 bills, cosponsored over 1,000 more.
-Obama passed legislation with Republican Senator Jim Talent to give gas stations a tax credit for installing E85 ethanol refueling pumps. The tax credit covers 30 percent of the costs of switching one or more traditional petroleum pumps to E85, which is an 85 percent ethanol/15 percent gasoline blend.
-After a number of inmates on death row were found innocent, Senator Obama worked with law enforcement officials to require the videotaping of interrogations and confessions in all capital cases.
-His first law was passed with Republican Tom Coburn, a measure to rebuild trust in government by allowing every American to go online and see how and where every dime of their tax dollars is spent.
-Obama created the Illinois Earned Income Tax Credit for low-income working families in 2000 and successfully sponsored a measure to make the credit permanent in 2003. The law offered about $105 million in tax relief over three years.
-Obama joined forces with former U.S. Sen. Paul Simon (D-IL) to pass the toughest campaign finance law in Illinois history. The legislation banned the personal use of campaign money by Illinois legislators and banned gifts from lobbyists. Before the law was passed, one organization ranked Illinois worst among 50 states for its campaign finance regulations.
-As a member of the Veterans’ Affairs Committee, Senator Obama has fought to help Illinois veterans get the disability pay they were promised, while working to prepare the VA for the return of the thousands of veterans who will need care after Iraq and Afghanistan.
-He traveled to Russia with Republican **** Lugar to begin a new generation of non-proliferation efforts designed to find and secure deadly weapons around the world.
-Obama has been a leading advocate for protecting the right to vote, helping to reauthorize the Voting Rights Act and leading the opposition against discriminatory barriers to voting.
- In the U.S. Senate, Obama introduced the STOP FRAUD Act to increase penalties for mortgage fraud and provide more protections for low-income homebuyers, well before the current subprime crisis began.
-Obama sponsored legislation to combat predatory payday loans, and he also was credited with lobbied the state to more closely regulate some of the most egregious predatory lending practices.
