Matt Damon: Sarah Palin is “Totally Absurd”

Matt Damon just spoke out on Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin to The Associated Press. The 37-year-old actor compares her possibility of being President to a ‘really bad Disney movie’. Ouch!

Damon shared, “I think there’s a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that’s a really scary thing… I don’t know anything about her and in eight weeks, I don’t think I’m going to know anything about her. I know that she was a mayor of a really, really small town and she’s the governor for Alaska for less than two years. I just don’t understand. I think the pick was made for political purposes… Do the actuary tables and there’s a one out of three chance, if not more, that [John] McCain doesn’t survive his first term and it’ll be President Palin… It’s like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom, you know, ‘oh, I’m just a hockey mom’… and she’s facing down Vladimir Putin (of Russia)… It’s totally absurd… it’s a really terrifying possibility.”

In order to say Palin is absurd you obviously know deep in your heart that someone like Obama running for President is equally if not more absurd. And to not be able to see that just means the person syaing it is in denial or unintelligent. The whole election is an ABSURD disaster waiting to happen.

Re: If Obama had really been for “change” he would have chosen Hillary as a running mate not Joe Biden. When it came to making his first important decision he caved and chose a Washington insider. The pick of Palin has blown him out of the water. His “”change” is nothing but rhetoric. And he is a hypocrit to call Plain inexperienced.

The Clintons are powerful democrats and Obama snubbed them!!! There is no unity. Nothing but empty words and a candidate that used to be slick on the podium. Now, he stutters his way through every speech.

WELL SAID AMEN TO THAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

To orchid: Very true, kids will be kids and do their own thing, however, be that as it may, why not keep them as educated as possible? Maybe at that age most kids think they know best, and their parents just don’t know what they’re talking about, so wouldn’t it make sense to make sure they have the education in the schools AND at home that will help them to make informed choices? Whether they listen and use that education is up to them, but it should at least be available!

Oh, Matt Damon. Poor, naive soul. Don’t you know not to trust politicians (yes, even Obama)? When is Oceans 14 coming out?

one more my bf saw a republican ad on tv , showing joe biden saying ” obama is not ready to be president” , i guess he said way back before he was chosen as runningmate.also in a democrat ad, it shows mccain quoting or saying , he don’t understand economy?….wht is tht. truthfully both sides has a lot of questionmarks. i am still wondering obama’s once close ties tht run for decades to rev. right and unaware of his idiology very mind boggling to me.also sarah palin had a case in her state and they are using states money to fund for her case?one more thing about obama, he wrote a book or thesis about his father ,slavery and white men. i don’t know it’s in you tube, check it urself because you can hear the audio it seems like his voice very passionate.

my opinion counts too @ 09/10/2008 at 3:11 pm

Palin IS a scary thought. It’s true. No matter how tough she thinks she is or how much work she got done in the past, those foreign nations with their backward views on women will not give a dam*n. They’ll look at her with her ‘beauty queen’ looks and laugh. She’s not a good backup for John McCain, and if he has to step back, she’s not presidential material. She’s just not and Matt Damon was right.

I agree with Matt.

I can’t believe that so many foolish women are supporting this crazy lady!

What’s next Adam Sandler for President?!?

What is SCARY is a President Obama. He’s all rhetoric and nothing else. What has he done. All of the supporters of Obama on here speak of an enlightened Obama. What does that mean? He’s done NOTHING worthwhile. He’s got no record to run on and that’s why he has this campaign that’s full of words. That’s it. Have any of you even read his books? I have and they are full of crap. He’s arrogant. That’s about all he is full of … himself.

God I couldn’t have said it better Matt Damon…I have even more respect for him…speaking out against her isn’t the easiest thing to do…he did a great job!!!

katie @ 09/10/2008 at 2:47 pm your all ignorant idiots. before he is a ‘celebrity’ he is an american citizen! he has as much right to voice his opinion as all of you!!! geez.

no one said he couldnt voice his opinion katie , your saying stuff that isnt true, noone here is saying he cant speak his mind, this is a thread for everyone….and if he wants to join in hes MORE then welcome too

Someone posted earlier saying how can Matt Damon make a judgement about Sarah Palin if he knows nothing about her. Well, the same way he can make a judgement about Obama without knowing anything about him. If all of Obama’s supporters really looked into what he stood for and what he stands for, I doubt they would still be supporters. He’s a politician - that’s it. He’s not even a senator - he’s done nothing while in office… nothing, but run for president.

why is everyone putting Matt down just for having a opinion. Just because he is a Actor does not mean he should have less rights then the rest of us in politics. Hes sharing what he thinks. An i agree. i have read up on are and everything. i want to like but their are so many things she believes in and I’m not for any of it. She may be a women but some of those believes of hers are taking away women rights.

I agree with chriseler 1#

it is scary. An next time you are bashing an actor speaking their mind then you miles well need to shut the **** up as well.

my 2 cents... @ 09/10/2008 at 3:16 pm

I can’t believe so many people are telling Damon to stick to movies and asking what right he has to talk about politics. That’s ridiculous. Just what do you think all of us Americans have been doing lately? We have all been talking about politics and voicing our opinions.

I agree with Matt. Palin is a relative unknown in Washington as well as nationally. She is a self-professed PTA mom and hockey mom. Just how does that qualify her to be VP yet alone step into the role of Pres. if the need arises?! I also agree that in the next 8 weeks we will not be able to learn much more about her because, frankly, there isn’t anything else to learn. She has been mayor of a small town in Alaska, population somewhere between 5,000 and 7,000 people. She has been governor of Alaska for less than 2 years. Alaska has less people than most US cities.

I think if McCain wanted to choose a female running mate he could’ve and should’ve done a lot better. I think she will be used as his puppet and she will be nothing but a pretty face. She has zero international experience and only recently got a passport!

Look her up on wikipedia and you will learn everything there is to know about her and the political experience is pitifully lacking for a VP candidate. In fact, take it a step further, and look up McCain, Obama, and Biden on wikipedia and then continue to watch the news, read the papers and watch any debates and on election day get out there and VOTE!

Finally someone who has the balls to say the truth. Palin is a phony and a disgrace to the women race.

Finally someone who has the balls to say the truth. Palin is a phony and a disgrace to the women race.

Matt Damon is a certified idiot.
Obama’s experience is spending 3 yrs as Senator, 2 of which has been spent campaigning for President. That leaves 1 year in office, running nothing while Sarah Palin as governmor has run departments, balanced budgets, dealt with greater issues than sitting in on meetings as Obama has. He is full of hot air. He is the one with no experience!

My 2 cents. #189
You said it perfectly.

i think ms. palin can take care of herself, ladies.

she’s a tough cookie and can shrug off these comments and get back to telling us what she’s going to do to improve the economy, health care, etc.

mean spirited remarks by mr. damon won’t deter her from improving our great nation with her ground-breaking policies and helping out those less fortunate. have faith :)

I’m a Boston girl and typically like Matt’s acting, but he should do just that, ACT and keep his mouth shut publically about politics. He has a right to his opinion, as we all do, but we’re NOT on TV or in the press bad mouthing the opponent of whatever party we support. People- he’s simply an actor with perhaps a college degree, I don’t even know, like many of us, but he has ZERO credibility as a political analyst and shouldn’t be given any air time on this. Let’s listen to people who are actually experts in the field, and not ACTORS. With as many criticisms there about Sarah Palin, there are equally the same about Obama. And factually, many would argue he’s in incorrect in his assessment of their experience and past records. For every citicism he has, there is someone on the other side to despute it. Sure, listen to his opinion but I truly hope educated people aren’t out there being influenced by his words. Most people understand that 90% of actors are liberals. They don’t represent the entire country’s views. I find it hilarious that he uses his celebrity status to try to influence the masses regarding political issues, and worse, in doing so slams a candidate. He should try to be more like Bono, who is “fair”. He educates himself on world issues and chooses to support them by working with whatever administration is currently in the White House. He takes strong stands, puts his mouth and money behind them, and gains the support of world leaders. He should be Matt’s role model. For now, Matt should do his part and that is vote for whatever candidate he wants, like we all will, but in the meantime keep his mouth shut about Sarah Palin.

automatically because he thinks palin is absurd, he is considered anti-feminist by you republican retards.

he is right about her. She is a psychotic , bible-toting, gun-slinging, child exploiting ***** who can,t give a speech to save her life. she does not hold a candle to hillary and quite frankly it is insulting that they’d assume they can get hillary’s voters to switch over to her because she has a vagine.

I am so happy Obama has started mud-slinging.

pig in lipstick!

sarah palin is the paris hilton of politics!

Further evidence that the dems are in a dead panic about the Palin VP pick. They are caught in a tailspin and probably won’t recover. I personally feel safer about Palin learning ‘”folksy stuff at the hockey rink” than Obama learning hatred ’stuff’ from Jeremiah Wright or violent radical activism ’stuff’ from Bill Ayers.

In the democrats, I have 2 people who I approve of…..
Obama and Biden.

In the republicans, I only have one… McCain.

So, I think I’ll vote democrat this year. It’s a great team. They appear to be much stronger. They got brains, experience and power btw them.

Matt Damon read my mind!

Quoted by Matt Damon ” I just don’t understand. I think the pick was made for political purposes…”

Well, DUH, it’s politics and no you would not understand. Sorry, Matt I love you as an actor but you should just stick with what you are good at.
