Matt Damon: Sarah Palin is “Totally Absurd”

Matt Damon just spoke out on Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin to The Associated Press. The 37-year-old actor compares her possibility of being President to a ‘really bad Disney movie’. Ouch!

Damon shared, “I think there’s a really good chance Sarah Palin could become president, and I think that’s a really scary thing… I don’t know anything about her and in eight weeks, I don’t think I’m going to know anything about her. I know that she was a mayor of a really, really small town and she’s the governor for Alaska for less than two years. I just don’t understand. I think the pick was made for political purposes… Do the actuary tables and there’s a one out of three chance, if not more, that [John] McCain doesn’t survive his first term and it’ll be President Palin… It’s like a really bad Disney movie. The hockey mom, you know, ‘oh, I’m just a hockey mom’… and she’s facing down Vladimir Putin (of Russia)… It’s totally absurd… it’s a really terrifying possibility.”

Finally someone who has the balls to say the truth. Palin is a phony and a disgrace to the women race.
—————————————————————————————————-
As a long long feminist, I am appalled at Sarah Palin as the VP candidate. And though, I am all for a woman in the White House, I want it to be the right woman and Sarah Palin isn’t it. I This woman’s skeletons are jumping out of her closet at such a high rate that I’m worried about what we may learn about her next.

my 2 cents... @ 09/10/2008 at 3:30 pm

Oh and here is something else to think about. I am a former PTA president of a large elementary school of 750 students and I am a soccer mom, OK, not a hockey mom. I don’t think organizing fund raisers for new playground equipment or running the school book fair or sitting in on school board meetings as a member qualifies me for life in politics. Neither would any small town mayor or being the governor of a state with less than 700,000 people! Let’s be honest with ourselves. She is not YET ready to take on this position. I am not saying I am for Obama b/c I have some concerns about his experience but definitely have HUGE issues with Palin.

yeah, when uninformed people make stances on issue they dont know about . . . its annoying . . . BUT

matt went to harvard. and what is said is very true . . .

being a sportscaster, beauty pageant contestant, and having a stake in a fishing company may be sufficient background to run a small town in Alaska, maybe even governor . . . BUT it in no way qualifies her to be head of the free nation.

He took the words from my mouth.

Gov. Palin is a female **** Cheney. If elected, she will do exactly what Bush/Cheney have done to us for the last 8 years.

The truth is, neither Obama nor Palin has much experience, but Obama gets it right on all the issues I care about most–health care, the economy, the environment.

You should vote for a candidate based on what they plan to do when elected. Better to have a newcomer who gets it right on all the issues than a newcomer whose priorities are completely different from most Americans.

That’s why I’m voting for Obama.

LAdyDelish @ 09/10/2008 at 3:37 pm

Okay… Matt Damon has NO political experience. I doubt he (like the majority of America) understands what goes into running a country, much less a town (no matter how small.)
These celebrities need to keep their mouths shut and go back to making movies.

Well said. I agree Obama and Biden make a stronger twosome.

If you listen to the Republicans voicing their support of Palin, they run out of things to say very quickly and start saying negative things about Obama instead. There isn’t enough to say about her good or bad. At her age she is even too young to be elected president. You must be 45. She will not turn 45 until Feb. 2009!

Just Tooting... @ 09/10/2008 at 3:38 pm

STFU Matt !!!!!

Commenting on someone you know nothing about…now, that’s absurd!!!

my 2 centsf #203:
How about community organizer? Would that qualify? Because that’s the bulk of Obama’s experience. He was in the Senate a total of 143 days. If you need me to do the math for you, that’s under 5 months.

Which would you say has more leadership experience? Mayor and governor, or community organizer?

Too bad you can’t be honest with yourself.

i thought obamas whole campain was “change” how is Biden Change? that isnt much of a “change” …..were going back to that!
and another thing take back america …uhm, who took america away ? where did it go? who stole it ? im still standing here..
hello?

matt damon is 100% right. the americans are so ******* stupid it’s ******* incredible!!! you stupid ******** are going to vote for mccain who is the same as bush and a woman who has no experience.

you deserve the holy hell that awaits you if sarah palin becomes president. and i will only laugh. because i’m an american living abroad.

No, he didn’t and the poster is one more reason why America should be very afraid. You find it for yourself Orchid and it’s quite easy to do.
Don’t leave here giving validation to that persons choosing to not only remain misenformed, but misenforming you also. Do your homework and educate yourself. Don’t let me or anyone choose what you should believe. Don’t allow soundbites, misquotes, edited 2nd hand information to form your thoughts. You’re smarter than that I hope.
——-
Well, the only way to find out if he said that is to read that book, and since I don’t plan to read it, has anyone here read that book?

—————

Alrighty then Orchid. Hey, sorry for failing to pick up on you really not minding others forming your opinions without question. Needless to say, I’m outdone by that attitude, but it’s your right to have.

Please accept my sincere apology and not to worry, it won’t happen again.

I love how people keep saying that actors should stay out of politics and then they elect Ronald Reagan, Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sono Bono. What they are really saying is “Democratic” actors should stay out of politics. Matt Damon is absolutely right- and he has the guts to say it. To compare Sara Palin to Obama is absurd. Someone that went to 6 colleges in 6 years cannot be compared with the editor of the Harvard Law Review and a constitutional law professor. Obama served for 12 years in the Illinois senate. Palin was mayor of a very small town and served 2 years as governor of state with a population smaller than a Chicago suburb. Obama has traveled the world, served on the armed services committee and lived overseas. Palin has left the US once and thinks foreign policy experience is Alaska’s proximity to Russia. Damon is right it is crazy. Obama had the sound judgement to pick someone extremely qualified in world affairs- Joe Biden. McCain was looking for a pro-life woman and he found her. She is good looking and a good speaker, she was a TV sports caster. If Americans are stupid enough to vote for McCain/Palin we will have 4 more years of the same and I truly fear for our country.

crystal #194: You’re right, Palin doesn’t need us to defend her. She’s tough and much smarter than Damon. Too bad he doesn’t realize he’s hurting his own party. I would say he’s hurting his own interests, but I seriously doubt he knows what they are. Sounds like he likes to hear himself talk even though he himself admits he doesn’t know what he’s talking about.

Right on Matt! I wish this country wasn’t so full of educated morons who are so easily manipulated by the media. People need to look at the facts and think for themselves, and Palin’s resume speaks for itself in terms of lack of leadership potential and ability AND experience.

OBAMA 08

dialectic @ 09/10/2008 at 3:50 pm

whats just as scary as Palin is that someone would give an interview in which they say they know nothing about a political canidate but that dont like them.hey matt why dont you do some research and then make an informed statement?

Palin is obviously not fit to be the VP but this election is once again all about the lesser of two evils.Mccain /Palin is a republican nightmare but Obama? he makes too many promises, he acts as though hes going to lead a new revolution in american politics and thats just not going to happen.i think he should be more realistic about what he can accomplish.

Thank you Matt Damon. You are saying what I have been thinking. I keep asking myself who is this person that McCain picked to be his vice president and Possibly President. This is a bad dream and people are not asking the right question of McCain.

I love you, Matt!

Obama ‘08!

Some of you guys here think you are smarter than Matt Damon but when you use flighty language to express your opinions - this tells the world how really silly you are…

I suggest those of you who cannot read and perceive simultaneously, or state your opinion without personal attacks should IMMEDIATELY stop reading these gossip sites and return to school - I wish you well - obviously you need it more than I do…

I am surfing gossip sites because my IQ is 165 - oh well geniuses do need amusement LOL…

Lisa

When was the last time you saw the MAVERICKS commericals? You might wanna look at it before criticizing Obama’s Change message.

The boldness in which some of you point fingers at other’s is amazing. It almost rivals McCain and Palins, “the NU Change Agents.”

I hope those that are spouting such outrage over a movie star having a political opinion are also spouting the same outrage over a religious figure having a political opinion…

movie stars should stick with making movies….religious “stars” should stick with teaching scripture…

Neither have a place in politics.

palin shudnt b predsident - matt makes such a good point
+ you ppl comparing this 2 him being an actor is just stupid!!
every1 can have their own views and matts jst happend 2 b the right one

What is SCARY is a President Obama. He’s all rhetoric and nothing else. What has he done. All of the supporters of Obama on here speak of an enlightened Obama. What does that mean? He’s done NOTHING worthwhile. He’s got no record to run on and that’s why he has this campaign that’s full of words. That’s it. Have any of you even read his books? I have and they are full of crap. He’s arrogant. That’s about all he is full of … himself.

Please, do you remember if he said, “I will stand with the MUSLIMS should the political winds shift in an ugly direction,” in “The Audacity of Hope,” as posted by polly? (see below)

A direct quote from Barack Hussien Obama’s Book, “Audacity of Hope, “I will stand with the MUSLIMS should the political winds shift in an ugly direction”, He did NOT say Americans.!!!!!!!!!, Think long and hard before you cast your vote. Once a Muslim always a muslim. Obama doesn’t have much experience to be our President either.

More backlash for the Democrats and this only
shows they are in state of panick
and desperation

the investors are nervous which makes the stock market unstable which rises the cost , and then the american people ***** and blame the republican party for it when in FACT the democrats in office are the ones who are making the HOLY HELL in the economy.
