IIRC I read in Variety the other day that Wanted is supposed to open in Japan this weekend, so that should help it get to the $300MIL mark.

Since there was a story the other day about the Forbest list of actors who return the least amount of money per dollar paid…If you take a look at Wanted, you can see why the studios are inundating Angie with offers right now. I’ve seen 2 different figures for what Angie was paid for Wanted - the first was $17.5MIL when it was announced she was doing the movie. Then late last year an movie website said $15MIL. Bearing in mind that the movie is still in theaters and they’ve still got DVD rentals & sales to look forward to, this is Universal’s return on their investment based on the figures above -

$ 284,653,600/$17,500,000 = $16.27

$ 284,653,600/$15,000,000 = $18.98

Compare that to Nic Kidman’s movie “The Invasion” where the studio LOST $2.68 for every $1 she was paid…and you can see why Columbia Pictures was willing to re-write Edwin A. Salt to get her to do the movie.

I’m sure now the trolls will come ouf the woodwork and say the studio lost money on AMH (which they didn’t) or some other Angie flick from 5 or 10 years ago (moot point). Whatever. That doesn’t negate the fact that she’s hot NOW. A little something the poor stupid little twits have a problem wrapping their pea-sized brains around…

I heard that Angelina is getting a HUGE deal for salt. The biggest of any female in Hollywood.

PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti (AP) - Matt Damon and Wyclef Jean lightened the misery for Haiti’s floods victims Saturday, arriving to hand out food and lend star power to relief efforts.

Damon and Haitian-born singer Jean are encouraging more people to help the United Nations raise more than US$100 million for an estimated 800,000 people left in dire circumstances by four devastating tropical storms and hurricanes.

The two stars arrived in the town of Cabaret, where hundreds of Haitians mobbed their SUV, raised their hands in the air and yelled, “Wyclef!” repeatedly, unsettling security guards.

Cabaret, north of the Haitian capital, had 60 residents die in flash floods and hundreds were left homeless as Hurricane Ike grazed Haiti last week.

“I want to see Wyclef because he is my artist,” said 25-year-old Jean Sadrac. “I want Wyclef to help me with money or water.”

The two celebrities planned to distribute food to an estimated 600 people sheltered in a school, but a truck carrying food for 300 people got stuck in the mud.

“What I’m doing, I’m doing from the heart because I love Haiti,” Jean said.

Jean, who leapt to fame with The Fugees before going solo, has often brought his famous friends to draw attention to the Western Hemisphere’s poorest nation. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt visited with his Yele Haiti charity in 2006.

“Hopefully we can make enough noise that people will pay attention,” Damon told reporters earlier at a news conference at the airport in Port-au-Prince. “I truly believe in the people of my country.”

Damon was wearing ripped jeans and a black, button-down shirt, while Jean wore a camouflage shirt with a puffy, olive-green vest and matching cap.

Damon and Jean will take a helicopter Sunday to the even harder-hit city of Gonaives, where tens of thousands are living in shelters with little food and water. The stars will distribute supplies and visit the cathedral, where about 500 people have taken refuge in the choir gallery above muddy pews.

At least 331 people have died in the onslaught of storms since mid-August, which has overwhelmed international relief agencies.

Henri Praviel, the local Civil Protection director, said that “aid is trickling in but it is still not enough.”

Bangkok Dangerous was pretty good in the original but I heard this knockoff majorly sucks.

In any case, I can’t stand to watch Nicholas Cage in anything. He looks like something growing on the side of a tree trunk.

Nic Cage USED to be a pretty good actor. Now days though he’s like so many other actors who are just making movies for the money. The only thing that may set “Kick-Ass” apart is that he’s NOT the lead and doesn’t carry the movie, he’s doing it for pretty much scale and a backend cut and most importantly, he’s a comic book buff himself and he and his son write a comic together. So this movie looks like something he’s taking on FOR FUN and not the money.

Actually - Cage’s career reminds me quite a bit of Wesley Snipes. They both had success in action films and got stuck in a rut. Now they turn them out simply for a payday - although NC has a hell of a lot more options than WS. Another thing they have in common is trouble with the IRS! LOL. I saw a story the other day about NC agreeing to pay the IRS $600,000-$1,000,000 in back taxes. It’s not that he didn’t file, but that the IRS questioned business deductions he cited on the form for his production company. Apparently the IRS didn’t think it was legit that the prod company paid for things like his PERSONAL vacation travel and hotel expenses. Damned IRS is always soooooo picky….

Fingers crossed that this will show up…

Hey, ladies…

I saw BAR and while I liked it, I think that the new commercials are showing too much of the good stuff, mainly Brad Pitt. Mind you, he was hysterical and offered great visuals (his dancing, jogging, etc.)

For me, the movie dragged in some parts, but picked up when Linda, Chad and the two CIA guys were introduced into the movie. And did anyone else notice that scene when Chad was wearing the red shirt with the flames on it? It made me think about the script description with the unitard with green flames.

Anyway, I think that the movie’s worth seeing, but people need to acclimate themselves to the fact that it’s a Coen Brothers’ comedy, but it lacks the surrealism of Raising Arizona, The Big Lebowski, and O’ Brother, Where Art Thou?. It’s definitely funnier than Fargo, though.

And believe it or not, the crazy blond streak really worked for Chad; it looked normal, given who Chad was.

Burn after reading is a terrific movie for people who admire the eccentricity of the Cohen brothers, people with sense of humour and the absurd and movie buffs who appreciate variety. Brad is a comic revealation, his funniest performance in my opinion and mind you he still looks so good even with the bouffant hairdo.
I went to an almost packed showing with half and half audience of young college typed and middleaged men and women. For me, the movie was worth my time and money and I will surely look forward to buying the DVD for my movie collection. My only wish is that Brad should have had more screen time than George!

You gotta stop acting like the IMDB is the industry bible. It ain’t. The IMDB still lists “Chad Schmidt” on Brad’s up-coming projects. Brad told Charley Rose LAST YEAR that the movie was NOT being made. They also still list “The Fighter”, yet the movie has been shelved due to financing falling through and Aronofsky has signed on to 2 other projects, one of which is a reboot of the uber-silly RoboCop franchise.

Also, Millar’s comment about Brad was meant as a joke. You should be familiar with the concept of jokes because YOU are one. Quentin Tarantino flew his fugly ass half way around the world to talk Brad into doing his new movie. Clearly there are people with more clout in the movie industry than yourself who have no problem with Brad’s looks or talent. You, on the other hand, have neither. That’s why your stupid ass is sittting at a computer at your local public library posting idiotic comments about Brad Pitt. You just wish you were him. Hell, you just wish you had a life, let alone Brad Pitt’s life!

Jolie-Pitt Foundation Establishes HIV/AIDS Clinic in Ethiopia

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt’s Jolie-Pitt Foundation has made a $2 million donation to the Global Health Committee to establish a center to aid children affected by tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS in Ethiopia.

The center will be modeled after the Cambodian Health Committee’s Maddox Chivan Children’s Center in Cambodia, where children receive medical, education and social services.

“Our goal is to transfer the success we have had in Cambodia to Ethiopia where people are needlessly dying of tuberculosis, a curable disease, and HIV/AIDS, a treatable disease,” Jolie said in a statement.

As in Cambodia, where the couple named the center after their eldest child, the Ethiopian branch will be named for Zahara, 3, who was adopted from Ethiopia.

“It is our hope when Zahara is older she will take responsibility of the clinic and continue its mission,” Pitt said in a statement.

The clinic will also focus on tuberculosis care. The disease causes approximately 2 million deaths yearly, and is the largest cause of death worldwide for children and adults with AIDS.

“The fact that poor people continue to die in our world today of TB, a curable disease, because of lack of access to drugs and care is unacceptable,” Pitt said.

The Jolie-Pitt foundation was established in Sept. 2006, when the couple donated $1 million to the Global Action for Children organization and $1 million to Doctors Without Borders.
