A solo Katie Holmes steps out of her New York City apartment on Friday morning sporting a shiny new pair of black leggings.
Previews for Katie’s Broadway debut in the Arthur Miller play begin on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at NY’s Gerald Schoenfeld Theater. The play will open on October 16 and run through January 11, 2009.
I’m going to the September 19th show. Anyone else have tickets for then?? Variety reports advance sales of $3.5 million for the show so far!

I did a little math on the seats for the show.
Variety is reporting today that $3.5 million worth of seats have sold. If you take $3.5 mil and divide it by $116 (I took the top price for regular seats and didn’t factor in the premium seats at $251 or the cheaper $66 seats), approximately 21% of the TOTAL seats for Sept 18 thru Jan 11 have sold (sold about 30,172 seats out of 143,507 seats available).
And creature honey, there are 1079 seats available for each performance and I took that times the number of performances (133 from Sept 18 to Jan 11) to get the total number of seats available.
I also went in to see what seats were available and except for Oct 16th opening night (which appears sold out–supposedly Tommy has bought a ton of seats for fam and friends) I got great seats (front/center premiums and front middle to rear center for the $116) for all nights I tried including Friday and Saturdays. I also tried this with Equus and got shunted to the sides for the nights I tried–so it seems to be selling better.
Positive reviews for this play will be critical to its success. I have a feeling die hard theater goers in NYC are not that impressed with Katie and her non-theater-acting skills. I don’t think word of mouth is going to do it for this type of play (literary/serious). If all seats sell out, the play will make about $17 million. $3.5 is about 21 percent of that. For the amount of publicity this play has received vs. the low number of tickets sold, I would say there are some nervous backers.
If Katie gets poor reviews, I have a feeling the play will bomb big time. Whether fair or not, by focusing on Katie, the burden of success is on her rather than the other actors. The reviews will probably start appearing online around the time the play ends on Sept 18th.
I TRIED TO WRITE JARED AND I PRESSED THE WRONG BUTTON…SO JARED SWEETY, PLEASE SEND THIS SOUTHERN GIRL TO SEE KATIE IN HER BROADWAY PLAY….( lol )…Sorry if i duplicated……It must be nice to live in New York and see these shows…I have always dreamed of gettiing there one day, BUT we all know how those things go……..If I ever get to New York, what do you DANCER and LAGOON CREATURE think I should see ( don’t you two live in or around New York?)….. I love Katie, so I would want to see her play and others, plus visit those super stores I hear and read so much about….Lucky you all, for living in a fun filled city…………Of course, where I live is unique also, and you need to visit….The Great Smokey Mountain National Park, and Gatlinburg, Tn, and of course Pigeon Forge, Tn AND DOLLYWOOD………there is alot here to see, especially to tour the Mountains and Cades Cove…look up online to read about it………..It is beautiful in the fall and Christmas………….Well, I envy you guys talking about your reserved seats already……………..SEND ME JARED PLEASE?
If the play does well(which I sincerely doubt), it’ll be because of the acting strength of the Broadway veterans, John Lithgow, Dianne Weist, and Patrick Wilson. They are the true stars of the play. They will be doing all the heavy lifting. Again, if the play does well, it’ll do well IN SPITE of Holmes presence. It’s not like Nicole Kidman’s play, The Blue Room. Kidman was the undeniable star of that play and the reason why it was a success. Holmes part is the least demanding of the principal roles. She should be fine, but the role is not the type of role that makes people stand up and notice if done well. Kidman’s role in the Blue Room was. That’s why her career was resurrected. It won’t happen with Katie Holmes.

Hi there! You do live in a beautiful area. I’ve driven thru it, but never stopped! Actually Victoria…. I live in Chicago. I go to NYC at least once, usually twice a year and pig out on plays…doing about 8-9 a week. Get there Tues a.m. and you can see one Tues night, two on Wed, one on Thurs, sometimes two on Fri (Forever Plaid or Blue Man group type plays often have a late showing), two on Sat and one on Sun before you fly out. Check out Time Out New York (google it for website) for plays–dates/times/costs etc. Also has info on dance, music, shopping, museums etc. If I really want to see the play, I walk up to the box office a few hours before the show and ask for Best Tickets Available (costs big $$$ tho)–usually one of the actors or crew has turned in their comp tickets. I did that with my 17 year old son (at the time) for The Graduate with Kathleen Turner–we got 4th row center and he got an eyeful of her unclothed scene. That is about all he talked about with his friends. Or if I am so-so about it I stand in line at the Hot Tix in Times Square and talk to people around me about what is showing and then make my mind up when I get up to the cashier. Usually I’m in NYC for the Westminster Dog Show and come in early or stay late to see the plays. I don’t show, but friends do and they are ‘rabid’ about it!
Anyhow, I just don’t think Katie has the acting talent to carry this part off. Hope for her sake she does. I think it will be a cringe-worthy performance. She does not emote well on the big screen and seems soft spoken. I just question how she is going to emote to a theater audience. Her problem, not mine!
And GOOD VICTORIA - I’ve been meaning to tell you, my youngest nana-baby is named Victoria! She is 1 and if you ask her two year old sister what her name is she looks at you and goes “baby sister.”
Naturally hot and really talented. So many as in many fans really miss her in The Dark Knight and were more impress by her Rachel Dawes seeing Maggie as the blemish of the sequel.

Jackie O and Audrey H ?…..not even, those two were elegant and classic beauties plus humanitarians that come once in a lifetime. This woman still dresses and acts like she still lives in Dawson’s Creek right down to her pigeon-toed stance. Katie Holmes looks and acts awkward like someone who is used to living in a trailer park and now lives in a Hollywood mansion. Pregnant? No way, unless she can get Joshua Jackson to impregnante her again. Smile? Only if she has a credit card in her hand and making a huge purchase. Humanitarian? She only donates time and money to herself.
Why does’nt her Scientology handler just buy her some gloves so she does’nt have to hide her purple hands, she’s almost dressed for winter anyways.

Hey DANCER………My sisters ( hopefully me also ), will be in the Chicago area in October for the marathon…..One of my sisters will be running ( it is her thing ) and the rest of us will be cheering her on…..She is running for St. Jude’s Childrens Hospital, in memory of my second son…he passed away in 1989 of Leukemia at the age of 9 years old……….I have always wanted to see your city also…..We are taking a boat tour around the city……Thanks for the information on New York……Maybe we can get there soon, as it sounds like so much fun………Your grand-babies sound adorable…If she has my name she HAS to be absolutely adorable and beautiful..( LOL )…aren’t they fun to dress and to buy things for ?……..After 3 sons, I’m enjoying the ” pinkness”……….I laughed so hard thinking about your son and Kathleen Turner…My sons would have done the same thing, and had wonderful dreams..( LOL)….I heard that was a great show….Is the show ” wizard” is playing ?? …is it good?……..Hopefully you will get back here in the fall or around Christmas, and attend some of the Craft and food shows. Actually, it appeared in the NY Times as well, from one of their most respected critics. You might want to do some research before you make an A$$ of yourself. FOX also reported it as did CNN.

I just got more information on CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON/MCLOVIN/CLINTON aka YORICK BROWN on IMDB.
A guy I know who is a regular poster over there befriended him to find out what he is all about. He was curious why this nutcase would spend so much time on IMDB fighting with everyone on every board and making a fool of himself. So here is what I found out!
CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON/MCLOVIN/CLINTON believes that GOD TOLD HIM TO DEFEND TOMKAT. I’m not kidding. He really believes he was told by God to do this! My friend said CREATURE has SERIOUS MENTAL HEALTH ISSUES and takes medication for them. He said CREATURE tried to get into Scientology but they turned him down cause he takes meds so he stopped them. When he’s off them, he hears voices. He couldn’t come up with the money to take Scientology courses so they pretty much dumped him. My friend also said he’s a high school kid with all kinds of fantasies who thinks he is going to be a movie screenwriter but can’t write to save his life. He posted his “scripts” on IMDB and got laughed at. He writes for Tom and Katie and thinks they read IMDB.
So what we have here is someone who really is mentally ill. No kidding around. CREATURE obviously needs serious help from a professional if he thinks God told him to defend Tomkat. This is somebody who needs to be in an institution. I almost feel bad for him. His parents should try helping him.
ALSO HE NOW USES THE NAME ESCOBAR ON THE TOM CRUISE BOARD WHERE HE ATTACKS EVERYBODY. IT’S PRETTY SICK.

Oh My “Creature is Insane”!! That’s scary about Creature from the Black Lagoon/Clinton/McLovin/Yorick Brown. It seems he really is certifiable which I have no problem believing based on his obsessive/compulsive posts here! He really does seem unbalanced! That’s really, really sad!
JMO, but I think we ought to all ignore him lest he do something to harm himself or something!! Anyone who would join a cult to be like their favorite star has to be very in need of medical intervention. That’s very true. I grew up in Scientology and got out years ago. During the lower levels you are taught that you can be a Scientologist and any real religion, however, once you reach OT III, also called “the fire level”, you find out that Hubbard believed Jesus Christ to be a pedophile and stated that one cannot “mix practices”. In other words, all real religions are useless and false and only Scientology is the true religion. Tom Cruise is an OT VII. He cannot believe in God or he would have never gotten that far. It was published on the internet when he attested to OT VII a few years ago. He is probably an OT VIII by now although I can’t be sure. I’ve been out too long to know from first hand knowledge. I do know he attested to OT VII though. It was on the cover of the Scientology magazine for parishners. His 3 sisters attested to OT V.
It’s pretty sick actually. I audited people beyond that level and if you do believe in another religion along with Scientology, you are declared a “Supressive Person” and either routed out of Scientology or made to do all the levels over again at a ridiculous cost until you believe that all other relgions are wrong.
to #96, So I was right. Once I told him, here on Jared, that he has kind of psychotic disease, and I wrote down the reasons why I was thinking that. As funny as it could be, for once, he didn’t try to answer me back as he does most of the time. What is more scary about him, is that he has a fixation on Katie Holmes and Suri more than on Tom.
