OlderLauren Conrad’s Books Titled “L.A. Candy”
It was announced yesterday that Lauren Conrad has signed on to write a three-book series of young adult fiction for HarperCollins.
“The first book is scheduled to hit shelves in the summer of 2009,” The Hills star reveals. “They will be titled L.A. Candy and tell a behind-the scenes story of a young girl who moves to L.A. and unexpectedly becomes the star of a reality television show. The books will be loosely inspired by my own experience and are definitely influenced by my own life. Some of the characters may symbolize people in my life, but it is in no way calling anyone out.”
Lauren, 22, adds, “I’ve always loved books that I could lose myself in, ones that would transport me to another place, but had characters I could relate to. So, I’m so excited to have this opportunity to write books like that for other readers.”

I agree with the third comment. I think this book deal is ridiculous, and that the reason why she has gotten so far is just because she’s pretty and has a decent amount of money (she does live in Laguna Beach afterall).
Lauren Condrad is such an inspiration. At first I was skeptical of her, being on a very dramatic reality show. But then I watched some episodes, read a bit about her, and she seems like such a nice, grounded person. I love the way she’s not a wild child party princess, but still knows how to have fun. I love her style and makeup and I’m super excited that she’s decided to write books! I’ve always wanted to be an author, but I never had an author I really admired. I’m really excited for her books! I think they’ll be great. <3

I think it’s because shes one of the people on the show who’s stylish and nice and maybe it is just a reality tv show, but shes still grounded and sweet. And maybe she isn’t Versace, but at least she knows what she wants and is trying.

i think Lauren is so cute but i can’t understand why she’s doing all that stuffs? she’s quite popular right now and writting about nothing is in my opinion wrong way… i really love her, her style and even her collection but i predict that those books wouldn’t succed.

Personally, I think Lauren Conrad has made a good name for herslf.
People won’t be reading “L.A Candy” because shes pretty. But because of the way she makes things flow so easily. Yes she’s pretty, but her being pretty doesn’t have anything to do with the writing shes presenting to the world. And to the people who say “The Hills” is fake, who cares? Honestly, it isn’t fake, its scripted which is a HUGE difference,and even if it is, shes an actress, I don’t remember the last time somebody called an actress fake. And I say it isn’t fake because imagine how many people go through something similar. I think it will be AMAZING!
And to Veronica, you’re not an author. If you were, you wouldn’t be swearing, it’s bad publicity.
I read an excerpt from this book and it is HORRIBLE.
It’s all dialogue, and like ughhh.

shes a fantastic sweet woman and for the people who say she is selfish and snobby are wrong and they probably dont even watch the show. she obviously is a good person. she is always thinking of others before herself. she is smart. she has a great job. she loves what she does. and she has great friends.

I love Lauren and the Hills, I do, and I think she is extremely beautiful and has a great eye for fashion… but a writer? Give me a break! The thing is, I can’t even blame the girl because she obviously has a had on her shoulders and is making the best out of her “opportunities” (unlike other L.A. celebrities who are utterly useless (PARIS HILTON)) but what makes me cringe is the publisher… HarperCollins… Clearly, their bottom-line is more important that producing worthy literature that will inspire and captivate readers for generations to come. As a publisher of BOOKS, you’d think they’d have a higher respect for real writers and the sacred art of writing. Its very, very sad.
and what’s with all these boys into chick shows and chick-lit? I can almost GAG when I see a dude talking about Lauren. WTF? Don’t you have something dude-ish to do instead of hanging around girls, gossiping about a chick show?? WHAT A MAD WORLD!

I like watching her on T.V and i think i might read the book just to see how it is…. I also like how people come on here and post rude comments about how they HAVE to watch her on t.v and now they HAVE to read her book….. not….. you don’t HAVE to do crap so stop complaining if you dont like her or her show then dont watch it…… but obviously there is something about her you like or you wouldnt be following what she is doing…. so spend a little more time judging your self and a little less time worrying about people that you “dont like”
