OlderBrad & Angelina Open HIV/AIDS Clinic in Ethiopia
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are continuing to help kids around the world, helping those who have been affected by tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS
The Jolie-Pitt Foundation just donated $2 million to the Global Health Committee to plant a help center in Ethiopia, which will be named after their daughter Zahara (she was adopted from Ethiopia).
The center will be modeled after Maddox Chivan Children’s Center in Cambodia (named after their oldest son), where children receive medical, education and social services.
“Our goal is to transfer the success we have had in Cambodia to Ethiopia where people are needlessly dying of tuberculosis, a curable disease, and HIV/AIDS, a treatable disease,” Jolie said in a statement to People.
Added Pitt, “It is our hope when Zahara is older she will take responsibility of the clinic and continue its mission. The fact that poor people continue to die in our world today of TB, a curable disease, because of lack of access to drugs and care is unacceptable.”

Someone I know went to see BAR yesterday and said they walked out of the theater after about 25 mins because every other word spoken was the F word- she said it ruined the movie. Anyone else have a similar view of the dailogue - is it necessary to the story or just something the Cohen brothers do a lot of. Jsut asking.

Like variety said its the brothers biggest box office opener,Who amoung the cast has box office draw than Pitt,please post their their box office figures.They have fans surely and their fans watched the movie but Pitt was the big draw.
I have never watched any Cohen Brothers’ movies before. Not a fan of Cohen Brothers. I watch BAR because of Brad. The movie is hilarious. Brad is the best part of the movie. Not enough Brad. I wanna more Brad. Congrats to Brad for BAR’s success at BO number 1.

BAR is an R-rated movie; R usually means profanity, nudity, violence, excessive drug use, etc.

I don’t know the meaning of haha at the end of your post and i seriously think your post wasn’t funny.at all.
You are right about something, directors and other actors in this movie bring their own fans to theater not just Pitt’s fans. But you know the point is fans of directors and GC and TS couldn’t help Cohens’ films to be a box office’s success,but Fans of Pitt did that. Check other GC and TS’s movies with Cohen. This is why Variety is telling Pitt is the highlight of this movie. Which is true,because Brad Pitt was the star of this movie along with FM. She was great too. He was great in the movie.
And about Jess James issue,i won’t discuss it with you who haven’t seen the movie,it was a great movie,and I’m sure it could be a box office hit if WB didn’t threw it under bus. But i’m sure ,it will be a one big and great movie and it will have it’s own time to shine. Go and rent the DVD,you won’t be disappointed , if you are really a fan of good movie.
what happened to my post? here’s the short end, brad and Angie do not care what people think about them, this is who they are, they know they can’t please every one, so they stop trying, people who suggest things for them to do, why don’t you organize a group of people, roll up your sleeves and get busy, it doesn’t matter why brad/Angie do it, it’s close to their heart, vote for the right president so our country won’t end up like those other countries,…..great job brad-Angie.

I am glad they qualified their statement about Zahara in that they HOPE that she will take RESPONSIBILITY for the clinic as opposed to EXPECTING her to RUN it when she is an adult. But then I expect no less from them.

I actually didn’t have a problem when it was worded as “expected”. It’s what parents DO. Now days most people’s parents EXPECT them to go to college, act responsibly, not do drugs, go into the family business, etc. If parents didn’t have expectations of their kids they wouldn’t be raising them right. In Brad & Angie’s case they’re expectations are just a big loftier than the MVMS - they expect their children to follow in their footsteps as humanitarians. If they raise their kids right, the kids will WANT be like their parents and follow in their footsteps. It’s a case where the parents are saying, “We want to be our children’s role models.”
Not a novel concept, but from what I’ve observed it’s not exactly a concept that a lot parents seem to embrace with gusto because as soon as their kids do something wrong they’re looking to blame someone or something else - peer pressure usually. If you raise your kid right, your kid will thumb their nose at peer pressure and do their own thing.
Uh-oh…I probably shouldn’t have posted this…it will undoubtedly lead to a discussion on parenting and responsibility, etc….oh well…off to do laundry now…

Only on the JP threads will you see so many people who think they have a say in how other people spend their money and raise their children…and someone please tell me, when did it become a crime to have high hopes for your child? Oh shoot! Why am I surprised some people don’t understand th concept of a parent hoping for the best in and for their children… I’m SURE for some, the moment they came out of their mother’s womb, their parent looked at each other and said “Yeah, don’t bother wasting your hopes on this one, It is gonna grow up to be a disappointment, to be the worst of the worst, the ultimate failure, saying it won’t amount to anything is an understatement”. Buzz up!Jennifer Lopez completed the Nautica Malibu Triathlon in 2 hours, 23 minutes and 38.8 seconds
on Sunday.
The singer, 39, pumped her arms in the air and smiled broadly as she crossed the finish line of the swimming-running-biking event.
“Thank you guys so much,” she told the crowd. “This is an amazing day.
“I feel really great and so glad I finished and that I made it out of the water but more amazing than that, I feel really great that we raised $127,000 for the Children’s Hospital [of Los Angeles] and hopefully it’ll go to good use,” Lopez added.
Husband Marc Anthony was on the sidelines being supportive. The couple kissed between the biking and running portions of the race.
After finishing, Lopez joined her family and Matthew McConaughey, who came in before her, in the VIP area. McConaughey was accompanied by his girlfriend Camila Alves and their newborn son Levi.
McConaughey’s race time was 1 hour, 30 minutes and 44.7 seconds.
Lopez’ participation raised $127,000 for the Children’s Hospital of L.A. and the entire event raised $950,000.
Lopez and Anthony are expected to return to NYC after the event to host his 40th birthday bash Sunday night.
Fans and fellow participants were seen cheering on Lopez and giving her high-fives.

Lopez was inspired to run a triathlon while eight months pregnant with twins Max and Emme, who were born in February.
“I was beached like a whale,” Lopez — Self magazine’s Most Inspiring Woman of 2008 — said on ABC’s Good Morning America last month.
“I was watching TV, and I saw a triathlon and I said, ‘You know what? I think I could do that, that would be great for me to do. Maybe I’ll do it this year,’” she explained.

Very true and I suppose my opinion is infuenced somewhat by Z’s race and and adopted background. I know Angie and Brad have the very best of intentions but as the saying goes, ‘the road to hell is paved with good intentions’. I have NO IDEA of the hidden landmines they will encounter raising Z but I think it is important to be careful about setting LIFE DESTINATIONS as opposed to goals for children. I would think that a child who thinks he has no choice on the path to his future is going to feel oppressed. Not the ideal condition for the sole black child of a mixed race family. Of course this is all speculation from both of us and really I do have great faith in both their parental abilities. I am really just responding to a text that I found comforting in its wording. Anyway I enjoy your posts. Keep at ‘er.

How do you know they are not helping villages. Angie’s brother and DP have also being working in Ethiopa. Angie also donated to another medical facility with Dr A (the orphan doctor. Even if the facility is all they do, its way more than a lot of others have done.

I meant that Chad was completely devoid of basic human instinct i.e. self-preservation. He was unbelievably supportive toward Linda, more so than most women would be. He was strange, in that respect.
Brad and Angie is a great, generous and loving couple.
