OlderBrad & Angelina Open HIV/AIDS Clinic in Ethiopia
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are continuing to help kids around the world, helping those who have been affected by tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS
The Jolie-Pitt Foundation just donated $2 million to the Global Health Committee to plant a help center in Ethiopia, which will be named after their daughter Zahara (she was adopted from Ethiopia).
The center will be modeled after Maddox Chivan Children’s Center in Cambodia (named after their oldest son), where children receive medical, education and social services.
“Our goal is to transfer the success we have had in Cambodia to Ethiopia where people are needlessly dying of tuberculosis, a curable disease, and HIV/AIDS, a treatable disease,” Jolie said in a statement to People.
Added Pitt, “It is our hope when Zahara is older she will take responsibility of the clinic and continue its mission. The fact that poor people continue to die in our world today of TB, a curable disease, because of lack of access to drugs and care is unacceptable.”

The plan for the clinic was mentioned by Angie in an interview last year, I think. Isn’t one of the reasons for the Foundation was to built the center or others like it all over the world. It is their money, their times, their children, their personal happiness.

What do you think we should do Today with those that are sick? Let them die and bury them and decrease the surplus population. So we can help those who are healthy. Is that it? Where do you get off, making such a judgemental asinine statement like that? Who gets to decide who lives or die? TB is a cureable disease. Beside, the hope is that they will get better and become healthy enough and find a way to help themselves out of their own economic proverty. If you are that concern about the infrastructure and economic poverty, why don’t YOU do something about it while the Jolie-Pitt help those that are in DESPARATE need. Jolie-Pitt are not omnipresent, they can’t save the world. They are only asking for the help of everyone, ethiopians, the foreign aids, us aids, the world all of us including you. This is only a start.

For about a year. I was there during the heatwave in 1998, AND pregnant with my little boy the whole summer! The last trimester too!
Walking accross the parking lot just exhausted me! You should have seen the looks I would get when I waddled into stores gasping because of the heat. I think they all thought I was going into labor!

Where’s my post??? I give up. All I said was that this is why I admire Brad and Angie. They don’t just talk about helping, they do it. Zahara and her siblings have great role models in their parents and whether or not she ends up taking responsibility of the clinic when she grows up, I have a feeling the JP kids will follow in Angelina and Brad’s footsteps in one capacity or another.

Being real of course, not everyday is a learning experience at JJ’s. We do get distracted some times. But if the fans are not dispensing info we always have bdj and other posters who are supplying us with interesting and informative articles that are not always about the joliepitts.
It is gratifying to hear that BAR is #1 at the box office. If you haven’t seen it please go. It is a good movie, and Brad makes it better.
Since Brad is not the lead in the movie I doubt the announcement of their donation to open a clinic had anything to do with the box office. Maybe GC, or Francis as their names are above Brad’s. We don’t really know why it was announced yesterday? And it doesn’t really matter. Because the movie is #1. And people who need serious medical help will receive it. Why wonder why? Peace

I love that pic of Brad & Angie from Cannes a few mos. ago on her Changeling premiere night that US rag is using on their Ethiopia HIV Clinic story - it’s a fav….Angelina looks like the sweetest, most serene, most beautiful young woman ever…just perfect — and Brad looks so proud. ((Swoon)))

Seems to me they are putting the cart before the horse. Wouldn’t it be better to provide families with food, clothing, housing, education and preventive medical care first so that they don’t get sick in the first place. This closing the barn after the horse has bolted is really just a waste of money - how long before these people get sick again because of the poor living conditions. Fix that first and then lets see this other stuff disappear and they people you have helped will have a better quality of life all around.

I think either is okay, hope or expectation. For what is hope but to expect with confidence. Neither is imposing the will of the parent on the child. We all expect certain things for or from our children. And we hope they will do as we expect. IMHO I don’t think there is a right or wrong here as long as the child doesn’t feel she is being forced to do it.
I don’t understand the statement that because Z is the sole black child of a mixed race couple. They have the same hopes and expectations for Maddox and his foundation. I am certain when they open up a clinic for Pax, Shiloh and whatever for the twins the expectations and hopes will be the same.
They simply want their children to be worthwhile human beings contributing to the world in a positive way. I think AG said it, or something simlar. When a child is born parents expect and hope it to be healthy. After that based on what the child exhibits determine what the hope and expections might be.
There is nothing in the statement that would imply that the joliepitts were going to or are imposing their will on their children. JMHO.
Piper with a low that is a good point. What seemed strange to me was that he was the only one without a sexual involvement of any kind. The gym manager wanted one with Francis’ character. But Chad didn’t seem interested in anything other than exercising and helping his friend. And he didn’t seem gay. He was really child like in a way. Peace
