OlderBrad & Angelina Open HIV/AIDS Clinic in Ethiopia
Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie are continuing to help kids around the world, helping those who have been affected by tuberculosis and HIV/AIDS
The Jolie-Pitt Foundation just donated $2 million to the Global Health Committee to plant a help center in Ethiopia, which will be named after their daughter Zahara (she was adopted from Ethiopia).
The center will be modeled after Maddox Chivan Children’s Center in Cambodia (named after their oldest son), where children receive medical, education and social services.
“Our goal is to transfer the success we have had in Cambodia to Ethiopia where people are needlessly dying of tuberculosis, a curable disease, and HIV/AIDS, a treatable disease,” Jolie said in a statement to People.
Added Pitt, “It is our hope when Zahara is older she will take responsibility of the clinic and continue its mission. The fact that poor people continue to die in our world today of TB, a curable disease, because of lack of access to drugs and care is unacceptable.”

Why ONLY celebrities ? Aren’t you American, too ? Do you think your anonymity absolve you from doing good within your own country ? What have you done to help YOUR people ?
- Do you know that the US is the ONLY western country with a HIV positive population on the rise (except for Russia)…with a HIV population amounting 1,000,000 + people at the last International HIV Conference i have been two year ago ? What have you done in your power to fight that desease in your country, your place, your area ? Did you actually took one hour of your time to do prevention in your area, talking to young people ? No you haven’t !
- Do you know that the US is the NUMBER 1 western country with teen pregnancy, hence a rising vulnerable population who will continue the cycle of poverty, violence, drop out school, drugs, prostitution, ect…. What have you done to prevent one teen not to get pregnant ? Did you actually took your time and apply to give conference at school in order to prevent that ? No you haven’t !
- Do you know that the US is the NUMBER 1 western country with homocide ? What have you done to fight that war on your street so that young Americans won’t fall under the bullet from another fellow in the rate of 1 to 20 compared to their Canadian counterpart ?
- And i won’t even talk about you people who often point out the fact that the JP couple didn’t adopted at home when you are the one who doesn’t give a damn about your fellow citizens, living in the same area of you or in hot places (like the Bronw) where they killing each other in complete anonymity. You only want to b*tch about people for the sake of b*tiching because by their actions they highlight your NON actions and make you feel that you are indeed incensitive and have done ZERO to help anyone unkown, let alone your own community, your own fellow citizen living right there in front of you…next to you !

No we only aware that Saint Maniston is STILL a coke addict THESE DAYS and a chain smoker who is doing NOTHING to help her community to fight cancer but promotes it to younger generationS by showing how to overtan and smoke. She is a public danger for juvenile brains who will emulate her suicidal behaviour..
Actually she is the biggest desperate HYPOCRITE, inviting cancer to knock on her door anytime soon while promoting prevention so that her fellow citizens will give THEIR hard earn money to find the cure she will need by the time she will undergo chemotherapy !

I am glad they qualified their statement about Zahara in that they HOPE that she will take RESPONSIBILITY for the clinic as opposed to EXPECTING her to RUN it when she is an adult. But then I expect no less from them.
WOW they walk the walk feels good to be a fan.A couple that actually do something.I watched a photographer on CNN or BBC who had come back from Ethiopia.He had taken photos to highlight the problems they face in that country.It was sad to watch people dying on the floor because they couldn’t get drugs,The hospitals are closed,the shops are closed.This clinic will help a lot of people.THANK YOU BRAD AND ANGELINA.
i went to ethiopia this summer to the capital addis ababa to visit my grandma. i was stricken by the poverty that seemed to be getting worse than 3 years before when i had visited. now they don’t even have light on 7 days a week but only 4. It’s wonderful that angelina and brad are doing this and god bless them:)

I love it how all the haters are blowing gaskets over this. I know many of us fans love this golden couple’s generosity but I think they would love to know that we ALL could turn our thoughts, if just only briefly, to the fight for eradicating TB and HIV/AIDS everywhere. Support where and when you can!

Swan we know you come from ff were you try to comfort yourself by attacking Angelina.You should be worried about Jen’s drug taking, she looked like she was back on drugs the other day.If Jen keeps eating men up the way she is doing it wont be long before she wants help from this AIDS clinic.
I think this is a great idea. I understand what they meant about Z, taking over the foundation when she is an adult. It is important for them that their children have a connection to the place they were born. While Z is too young to understand now, I am sure that Brad/Angie want to instill in her how blessed her life is. There are thousands of other children who will never have what she has. This is not to make her feel guilty, but to know that we all have a responsibility to help others in need. We all in some cases do that with our own children. When kids collect can goods for their school, or donate pennies for charity. Same thing. I hope Z will grow up to want to give back to a country where her life began.

I started a project to send books back to the Philippines my son was ten. Now, he is 25 and still does it.
He goes to the Philippines every other year and check out the schools and libraries and literally have fun with the school children.
My son learned responsibility because of this project, from raising funds for shipping, creating Share a Book Club for local kids to help collect books and summer clothings from houses and schools, and packing them for shipment. I know it is hard and time consuming but we all love doing it. He is now in medical school and believe me he doesn’t have any intention in stopping the project.
There is nothing wrong in starting a project for children at young age. I am sure Z will follow the footsteps of Brad and Angie because it will be a natural progression for her.

I don’t understand why some demand for Brad and Angelina to save the world. These two have gone far beyound the call of duty to provide for the less fortunate around the world, even in the United States. While other HW people hoard their riches for themselves and couldn’t care less about anyone but themselves, like many of you that are complaining.

I would like to believe generally, people are not that stupid not to able to distinguish what is acting in a film from what is real. Actors do not promote violence just because they are portraying certain roles. If an actress’ role is a wh..re, it doesn’t mean she wants every woman to be that too. Besides, the reason why a movie is classified (as R etc), is because there is a particular audience for it.
A painter paints anything that expresses his artistry. If he paints violence, doesn’t mean he’s promoting violence. If a photographertakes pictures that depicts violence, doesn’t mean he’s promoting violence. Simple as that!
To those who are questioning Brad/Angie’s project in Ethiopia, why can’t you do something for others instead of wasting your time criticizing the kindness of these two. In the first place, they can do whatever they want with their money. It’s not your money, so it’s no one’s business to dictate what they would want with their financial assets. Maybe, people who nitpick their charity works are only jealous that they have the capacity and means to do it.
Very good although it’s still a toss up as to whether Zahara will ant to do this when she is older.
I just hope that by the time Zahara is grown up that Ethiopia’s political, and social situation will improve 100% than it is now. The world needs to keep their eyes peeled for “negative outside forces” trying to come into that country.
Ethiopia, Somalia and Eritrea are very vulnerable to the “outside forces”. I pray that if these outside forces gain momentum that the US and other countries “freak out” over the supposed Russian invasion of Georgia. The President and Secretary of State went on and on about the Russia/Georgia situation. I hope there is as much “outrage” if the “outside forces” continue to invade the horn of Africa. Maybe having a President who is half Kenyan will help some of the less fortunate in the most devastated & vulnerable African countries.
In the meantime it’s a blessing that so many individuals like Bill Gates, Brad, Angelina, Oprah, Clooney, Damon, Cheadle and thousands of unknowns, are doing their part .
