let me clear things up.

This song has TWO meanings. and I’m not messing around! I know both the JB & Miley Cyrus, and I’m good friends with them.

1. it’s about their family & friends and that they are sorry for touring so much and not being there for them and spend time with them and for sometimes not even be there for important dates (like holidays, birthdays etc.)

2. but it also has to do with NILEY, yes, they broke up, but it was NICK that mainly wrote this song and he wrote it after NILEY split. he was really sorry and he wanted to tell her that with a song. that’s why he wrote this. Nick cared EXTREMELY much about Miley and they were together for over 2 years and it was hard for both of them to move on! so of course he would ask her to stay, if it wasn’t too late, as the lyrics say. Nick DID wanted to get back with Miley, but they didn’t cause of their busy schedules.

3. they both (nick & miley) have moved on, dating OTHER people, but you can see there was something between them, when you are around them.

This song made Miley cry, I’m serious you guys.
anyways, it’s your choice if you believe it or not, I’m just telling you all the truth. and I know all this cause I’m friends with them, I’m really close to them!
