Excuse some of us for liking the fact that Obama went to Columbia University graduating with a B.A. Political Science major with specialization in international relations and a Thesis topic: Soviet nuclear disarmament. Then followed that up with Harvard Law School where he was J.D. magna *** laude 1988-1991 and President, Harvard Law Review.

Palin had to string the credits of 5 universities together to graduate from University of Idaho as a journalism major.

While Sarah was being a sportscaster Obama was working to help companies understand overseas markets in the “Financing Foreign Operations” service and wrote for the “Business International Money Report, he was at City College in Harlem promoting personal, community, and government reform, he led Chicago’s Project Vote! push.

While Sarah was fishing with her husband for a living and a mere member of the PTA (no official title or position or fund raiser or committee assigned to her) Obama taught courses on the due process and equal protection areas of constitutional law at the University of Chicago, covering topics of voting rights, and on racism and law. Helped develop a casebook on voting rights.

While Sarah was a city council member and opposing a measure to curtail the hours at Wasilla’s bars by two hours. Obama was an associate attorney with Davis, Miner, Barnhill & Galland. Represented non-profits and private individuals in urban development projects, voting rights cases, and wrongful firings. Filed major suit that forced the state of Illinois to enforce the Motor Voter Law and successfully argued a wrongful firing case before the U.S. 7th Circuit Court of Appeals.

While Palin was mayor of Wasilla (pop 5) and pushing the Bridge to Nowhere, putting them in debt from a surplus, asking hypothetical questions as to book banning, firing experienced people and hiring friends, and building an ice rink with taxpayers money that had heated seats, and asking for more earmarks then any other mayor in history..

Obama was serving 8 years in the Illinois Senate where he Chairman of Health and Human Services Committee, he spearheaded a successful bipartisan effort in Illinois to pass the broadest ethics-reform legislation in 25 years, and gained bipartisan support for his successful bills reforming death penalty interrogations and ending racial profiling by police, worked with the Republican-led effort to reform welfare, he also sponsored successful bills expanding tax credits and child-care subsidies for low-income working families, protecting overtime pay for workers, expanding health care for children, and providing job skills training for juveniles.

While Palin was Governor, pushing for polars bears to be taken off the endangered species list, encouraging shooting wolves from helicopters, she did operate a budget of $6.6 billion, curtailed her earmarks to , suddenly decided she was against the Bridge to Nowhere but refused to give the money back to the American taxpayers,promoting oil and natural gas resource development in Alaska, including in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge, amd was absent from her duties at in Juneau for 312 days to the point the members of the legislature began where’s buttons that said Where’s Sarah?

Obama was serving as a United States Senator, a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Subcommittee on European Affairs, member of the Senate Committee on Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions, member of the Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs, member of Senate Committee on Veterans’ Affairs, shares responsibility for the bipartisan Coburn-Obama Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006, requiring full online disclosure of all entities receiving federal funds, and the bipartisan Lugar-Obama Cooperative Proliferation Detection, Interdiction Assistance, and Conventional Threat Reduction Act of 2006, deepening non-proliferation work with WMD and including surface-to-air missiles, land mines, and other weapons that may be used by terrorists. Also worked with Coburn to end the abuse of no-bid contracts in the wake of disasters.

Obama has introduced nearly 300 bills during his time in the U.S. Senate, and cosponsored close to 1,000 others.

I would say YES I am confident he has the experience needed for the job of President of the United States. And Joe is a worthy Vice President who can step in at any time if something is to happen to him.

Sarah is not.

THANK YOU poster #65! What an informative post on Obama. I had no idea about his actual degrees and absolutely NO idea that Palin had to scrape together all her credits from various universities. I have been an Obama supporter from day one and this just cements the deal. I think Palin is a dangerous woman too far to the right and could possibly involve us in another useless war. People wake up!
