TRL Canceled — For Real This Time!
Total Request Live, better known as TRL, has been officially canceled after ten years. (This was a rumor back in Feburary, but it’s a done deal now.)
TRL executive producer Dave Sirulnick said that show, which is taped in Times Square, will take its final bow in a two-hour special on a Saturday afternoon in November. He added that show isn’t “ending for good” but needs a “break.”
Originally hosted by Carson Daly, the music video countdown show premiered music videos and helped to launch the careers of Britney Spears, Christina Aguilera, ‘NSync and other teen pop acts.
Where will artists premiere their music videos now? Online? FNMTV?

Don’t come back TRL! You aren’t needed!
This show is the reason I stopped watching MTV ten years ago. Thank you MTV, even though your “taking a break” I still won’t watch you. You suck. thank you for making me realize how much of a mindless television station you were ten years ago and how I’m sure nothing has changed since.
