Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to fight California’s Proposition 8, a ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in the state.
“Because no one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another, and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8,” the 44-year-old actor said in a statement.
Political strategist Chad Griffin, who is coordinating efforts in the entertainment industry to defeat the measure, added, “It is our hope that others in the entertainment industry will step up and match Brad Pitt’s heroic commitment to quality and defeating Prop. 8. This isn’t a special interest issue - this measure affects every business and every family. With California’s budget and the national economy in chaos, the last thing we need is an unnecessary measure that threatens health benefits and protections for children.”

Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to the campaign to defeat Proposition 8, the California ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in the state.
Pitt’s contribution comes as fund-raising to defeat the measure lags behind that of supporters, even as polls suggest that the proposition will have a tough time of passage.
“Because no one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another, and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8,” Pitt said in a statement.
Pitt’s contribution, to the group Californians Against Eliminating Basic Rights, is one of the largest individual entertainment industry donations to the No on Prop. 8 campaign coming from the entertainment industry. Others who have chipped in so far include David Geffen, who has donated $50,000, and Bryan Lourd, who contributed $5,000.
In October, Ron Burkle plans to host a major event for the No on 8 campaign at his Greenacres estate in Beverly Hills.
But opponents are being outraised by supporters. According to IN Los Angeles magazine, which covers the gay community, proponents of Proposition 8 have raised $16 million and opponents have raised $11 million. Backers of the proposition raised $750,000 on Sept. 10 alone.
“It is our hope that others in the entertainment industry will step up and match Brad Pitt’s heroic commitment to quality and defeating Prop. 8,” said political strategist Chad Griffin, who is working to defeat the measure.

The right to self-determination.
The right to survivors benefits if one should die.
The right to name their spouse as medical proxy in the event of incapacitation,

I dont think you read or understood what Mr Pitt said. He is saying that people should be able to marriage any human that they chose without being discriminated against. It also means that If they choose to get out of the marriage after a period of time they should be allowed just like any other married couple. However (and I’m a bit vague in this), I think I remember reading or hearing from TV recently that she is a pacifist, and will therefore not agree to Israel dropping a few you-know-what on Iran to knock out, or at least postpone, their ability to go nuclear, so who is left to do it? Iran is certainly not giving up. I don’t know about you, but I can understand Iran’s pov. Why should they give up?
They are a sovereign nation. If other nations have nuclear power, how can anyone deny a country who wants it too, and is able to afford it, to go for it.

BHO will benefit from the economic situation. His approval rating goes up, but I hear how MCain can hit him there.
BHO plans to raise capital gains tax, which is something that won’t help the economy (who is going to invest and create jobs?).
If BHO changes his mind (because the economy is bad), how can he keep his promises to the voters? The debates are going to be very interesting!

i totally agree. I’m not gay but thats my favorite hangout to go out with my niece and nephew what a blast. Why don’t everyone let them have there freedom to do as they please and to love who ever they want. I totally agree. I wanted the movie to be longer too, and also felt that there was not enough Brad. He was really funny. I truly love the choices he is making in his movies. He has become very diverse. He has always played against the grain…Snatch, Seven, Fight Club, AOJJ. He has been in this industry for almost 20 years. He is still relevant and creates a frenzy whenever he is on the red carpet, or mentioned on and web post. That speaks volumes. How many other actors can one say the same of. If we see an injustice, we should call it out, other wise, our silence perpetuates that injustice.
It happens every day. At the play ground, older kids dominating the swings and not letting younger, smaller children have a turn.
In a broader context, discrimination based on colour, on race, on religion, on sexual preferences, we have the obligation when it presents itself, to say something about it, sometimes tactfully, sometimes without consideration for the other persons feelings.
So, I disagree that Brad has no personal investment in this, anymore then each of us who agree with this view. We do have a personal obligation as a member of the human race, as a person with a conscience, to call out discrimination against gays as a sin against the human being and thus also, a sin against God.
Why do I say that discrimination is a sin against God?
The truth of the matter is that there is no race that I know of, which doesn’t have homosexuals. Yes, yes, I’ve heard that Iran doesn’t have homosexuals but I don’t believe it. I know there are plenty of homosexuals in Pakistan. I’ve personally witnessed the oily boys myself standing on the street corners of Karachi.
I must therefore ask that question - are some people born homosexuals? If it is in their genes, then God made them this way. And if God made them this way and they can have sex with other homosexuals who are similarly attracted to them, are they not doing God’s will? And if they are doing God’s will, who am I to condemn them?

There is no such reliable study showing that gay marriages deviate from the norm as far as a “happiness” quotient in and of itself.

It’s an issue that the leaders of that country concerned and the global community’s responsibility to. And don’t start with causes about the homeless, orphans, children without education and medical help because Brad and Angie have done more than enough on their own capacity (compared to most celebrities) to help these causes. MIR is rebuilding for the homeless hurricane Katrina victims in Lower 9th ward. They have opened their home to 3 beautiful children from Africa and Asia (Mad, Pax & Z) and showered them with their love equal to that of their own blood. As for education and medical help, haven’t you read that thay have just donated $2 mil to the Global Health Committee to build the TB/HIV/AIDS clinic in Ethiopia. How about the Maddox Chivan Children Center in Cambodia where they also provide not only medical assistance, education but also social services to the children there? Or the other $2 mil they donated for the education of Iragi refugees as well as American corps children? I suggest next time, before you burst a vein and ramble stupid things, do your research.

Persiancutie, salaam. I don’t post during the day I wait until I break fast. It is too easy to get involved with the conversations. And some of them can be quite negative which spoils your fast. You will work it out. We only have two weeks left after this week.
I realize Prop 8 is a anti gay marriage bill, but IMHO Brad isn’t talking about just gays. He is talking about everyone having the right to live their life as they see fit as long as they are not hurting anyone else. I can agree with that.

Also, I have a friend who says she can tell when someone is gay even if he/she sounds or appears totally straight. I can’t.
He’s right. What marriage does most of all is protect children. A man and a woman, or two men, women, two adults, they can negotiate and sign away rights and protections as they need to (tho not always without suffering, ask any unmarried couple facing a crisis in an emergency room). But children benefit most of all from being the legally declared ward of specified adults, with all of the protections of inheritance, custody, guardianship, healthcare, you name it. Maybe it is just a roundabout way of getting AJ to the altar, who knows, but the spirit of the donation is spot on.

There has never been a time when Brad’s parents spent more than one week with them while Brad was still with Jennifer. And Brad would often visit MO without Jennifer, not in the case with Angelina, they always visit together with the kids.

We don’t judge people by their religion but with what they do and their accomplishment. There are phony Christians out there — ones that are only by name, not action.
Angelina did things in her past, but God allow people a second chance — a chance to clean up and change. She has been doing marvelously well for herself and for the less fortunate and has kept it that way for years now. Pitt’s family has come to love and accepted her. They see that she makes Brad happy. On the other hand, Jennifer, who is years older than Jolie, has not really done much “Christian” has she? Everyone in the cast is pitch-perfect, but the two that stand out most are Malkovich and Pitt, who turn in the best performances of their more recent careers. The effortless style and line delivery of Malkovich as the pompous Cox makes the audience really want to hate him and at the same time feel sorry for him. Meanwhile, it’s refreshing to see Pitt cutting loose in the ultimate anti-Brad Pitt role as Chad, dressed in tight bike shorts with goofily bleached hair dancing geekily with his ever-present iPod headphones in. With the help of the Coens’ direction, they’re sure to be two Oscar contenders for Best Supporting Actor this year.
It is apparent that the Coen brothers are experts in the field. Following the Academy Award-winning “Fargo” and the more recent “No Country for Old Men,” Joel and Ethan always bring their films to a whole different level than most of the other films out in the theaters today. They are so original in everything they do that the audience may not always love what it sees, but it will definitely never forget what it has seen. “Burn After Reading” is nothing short of unconventional, maybe a little bit controversial, but above all, entertaining.

Jason’s curious buddy Brad
Jason Flemyng is a busy man. The actor and co-owner of The Duchess pub in South London, he divides his time between organising pub quizzes and jetting off to film sets.
He’s currently on his lunch break from filming ITV sci-fi drama Primeval.
“I’m more of a demented figurehead for The Duchess,” he confesses. “Especially as I’m doing Primeval at the moment so we work from 6.30 in the morning until eight at night so I’m absolutely useless to the pub - I’m a complete liability and I’m never there. But in terms of resting and a lull I’m there as much as I can be.”
Earlier this year he was away filming The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button with Brad Pitt, a man who he is full of praise for.
“Brad’s an angel,” says Jason. “When we did Snatch we used to go to Guy’s pub, The Punchbowl. He’s been a great, lovely supporter. He’s been really, really supportive, and even though he said it was nothing to do with him, I know that the reason I got that part was because of Brad.”
Jason is just as enthusiastic about the film.
“It’s an F Scott Fitzgerald novel about a man who ages backwards. So he’s 90 when he’s born and he’s born like a little Shar-Pei dog, like a little old man in a baby’s body and he ages backwards and dies as an infant. It’s really beautiful. It’s a really dark, strange, lovely story and I’m really excited about it, I think it’s going to be great.”
Even more exciting is 41-year-old Jason’s few minutes on the screen where he feels he beats Brad in the looks department.
“I play his dad,” he explains. “So at one point I was 32 and he was 92 and for a brief moment of time I was better looking than him, just briefly. But then he soon becomes Brad again and then all the men have to deal with the fact that they’re always going to be slightly out of focus and second best, really.”
Brad and Angelina’s ever expanding brood were ever present on the set of the film.
“He’s got his posse with him at most times,” reveals Jason. “So we had little Pax and all that lot racing around like mad children. They’re fantastic.
“I think he’s a little tireder than he used to be. But Brad’s just the same. He was always huge so nothing is going to change him.”

The London Film Festival starts on October 15 and this year has a political and historic focus. Alongside Hunger there will be two films about American presidents; Frost/Nixon, about the famous David Frost interviews with Richard Nixon from Ron Howard and Oliver Stone’s W about the current White House incumbent.
A host of blockbusters are to be shown at the festival. Most notably, the latest 007 film will be screened on October 29.

With Angelina, the epitome of femininity, there is NO way Brad can look more feminine than her, no matter how ‘pretty’ he may be. He was always the better looking partner than with them. With Angie, they are equal. Their looks balance or complement each other. If those remarks didn’t scream ‘BLOW’ I don’t know what would.
It was clear she was getting her b*tch on, and trying to either judge others (see the JPs), and/or explain her OWN historic lack of involvement in anything charitable or worthwhile.
Bottomline,the dumb b*tch is her own BEST example of ineffective charitable photo-ops that make no lasting impression and aren’t critical to any kind of impact (except getting Aniston a photo-op ‘being’ charitable).

1) photo-op at El Faro (the old handbag donated some old handbags..pics taken) 2)St Judes - she did 2 commercials, other celebs do the legwork with fundraisers 3) Recent millenium Cox Arquette project dinner w/ Dr Jeff Sachs (Mayer in tow) - again a photo-op was had and her PR gave a quote to people mag 4) Cox Arquette skin disease foundation - photo-op and press release 5) Oprah’s cancelled TV charity game show where her participation was overly hyped and she gave 10K extra ea. to 5 players 6) the recent cancer telethon where she read a teleprompter horribly.
THAT is the very definition of an ineffectual famewh*re trying to put across a perception of charity, while having no real concrete plan to make a difference and just trying like hell to not be seen as a total do-nothing as your ex and the love of his life, save and make the world better FOR REAL.

Clinique,here is another X’s coked out interview, or perhaps she is drunk? Whats up with the tossing of her head and looking up always, and her reactions are so phony. She uses all superlatives for her co-stars, and she even says working with Alec Baldwin is a dream, and that he is dreamy. Geez, really, Who finds Alex Baldwin dreamy no? She is just so fake!
She said she worked hard with her co-stars on the script of Management, no wonder the movie sucks. And as usual became defensive about it, adding it doesnt matter what people think about the movie, and that it was a labor of love.

Wasn’t it the Enquirer that broke the John Edwards story? that was ignored at first but then proved to be true - don’t knock everything the Enquirer reports - more often that not they have it right.

There was no Pitt on the hidden agenda.
Brad as you know is much more stealth. Which for amateur gossips is an invitation to report that he and the Jolie are now done.

She didn’t give Brad even an inch! brad is a good man he’s really when it comes to relationship because he really cherish it and wanted to have a family. My doubt is with angelina she has this mental issue I think she’s not really contented right now. Whoever posted Lainey’s garbage should see what a bonehead she is, it seems to me that she is trying to legitimize US’s denial story. She repeats the same nonsense about Angelina’s publicist, when the fact of the matter is she has NO publicist. Another reason to see that she doesn’t know **** same like the tabloids. She also repeats that nonsense about seeing them eating outside at 10 am this morning. But to make it sound more believable she says locals saw them. Oh Yeah…how in the hell can locals see onto a property that size with a driveway that long, what do they have binoculars for eyes. Lainey must think her readers are stupid or they don’t have any common sense or ability to think critically. For somebody who calls herself a smut hound she is severely lacking.

This is meant for FUN not whatever juju thinks it is. She gets very angry at everything said and quickly calls for medical attention when someone says something she doesn’t like.

Switching gears…while I appreciate any denouncement of lies on the JPs, and anyone ripping Lies & Stench as much as the next person, there are so many things WRONG with ‘talking out of her ass’ Lamey, that I have no where to start: but here goes #1) Angelina, it’s WELL known, has NO publicist 2) She gets sh*t so asssbackwards! More than a couple of blogs reported (or tried to anyway) on Brad & Maniston’s every move, simply so they could try and create fiction. The hilarious part is, Lamey got it backwards, I read on multiple in the know Toronto fest blogs and newspapers that it was Brad who was out and about, from the time he got there til he left (premiere, sotto sotto, press conference, spice for cast party ) - he most likely did it to thwart the coattail queen and any shenanigans she and Huvane may have been up to. What’s MORE all this is catalogued, usa today, the TO sun, all of the patrons in the various restaurants …saw Brad out and about for MOST of the time he was in TO. A whole mob of people swarmed the restaurants and afterpartys and press conferences and lunches…
RATHER…it was Maniston, for whom the press in TO was writing ‘where oh where is aniston?’ and ‘why is she hiding out?’ The TO festival press is savvy and KNEW what she and Huvane were doing. If NO ONE actually SEES Maniston you can’t say where she was or was not.
