OlderBrad Pitt Fights For Gay Marriage
Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to fight California’s Proposition 8, a ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in the state.
“Because no one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another, and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8,” the 44-year-old actor said in a statement.
Political strategist Chad Griffin, who is coordinating efforts in the entertainment industry to defeat the measure, added, “It is our hope that others in the entertainment industry will step up and match Brad Pitt’s heroic commitment to quality and defeating Prop. 8. This isn’t a special interest issue - this measure affects every business and every family. With California’s budget and the national economy in chaos, the last thing we need is an unnecessary measure that threatens health benefits and protections for children.”

I totally agree. America is suppose to be a country were we have free speech, free rights, and free will. That’s why I hate it when people say “Oh, you can’t get married, it’s wrong”. Well, that’s your opinion. If you hate it so much, don’t go to their wedding!
I heard that a reason most people are against it is because ‘it’s against religion’. Well, what if I’m not part of that religion? It’s Christianity that mostly preaches this, right? What if I’m Muslim? One religious view should not effect an entire country.

I agree with Brad. You don’t have to agree with a lifestyle to determine if it is wrong to discriminate. We live in a world of free choice. People choice to love and live the way they want. I may or may not agree with those who are gay, but I believe either way that they have a right to form a life long or short term relationship the way everyone else does. Some people need to get out of the business of being “GOD”. He/She has the job all sown up. I will wait for God to judge me, and not those in this life. Stop trying to be the almighty.
I appreciate that Brad feels comfortable enough to make a stand on what he believes. I also like that he and Angie have really kept their political choice their own. I don’t talk about whom I will vote for . Politics gets people crazy. I just think if people want things to be different, then you must make different choices.

He didn’t want to be married to Jennifer anymore, so he left her to be with the woman he did want to be with. Did it hurt you? I doubt it. So, thats his point! And by hurt, I don’t think he meant, hurt someone and make them cry, as I am sure Jennifer did. However, I think he meant “hurt” as in physically or changing anotherr persons life in a negative way that scars them for life.
