Brad Pitt Fights For Gay Marriage
Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to fight California’s Proposition 8, a ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in the state.
“Because no one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another, and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8,” the 44-year-old actor said in a statement.
Political strategist Chad Griffin, who is coordinating efforts in the entertainment industry to defeat the measure, added, “It is our hope that others in the entertainment industry will step up and match Brad Pitt’s heroic commitment to quality and defeating Prop. 8. This isn’t a special interest issue - this measure affects every business and every family. With California’s budget and the national economy in chaos, the last thing we need is an unnecessary measure that threatens health benefits and protections for children.”

Can’t wait for the will of the people and that’s will tell all. Not the courts.
To whom it may concern: When did it become “hateful ” and “judgemental” to disagree with gay marriage? I’m gay and I totally disagree with the idea of gay marriage. I’m tired of reading about it. I’m tired of hearing from Hollywood losers promoting it ,and most of all I’m tired of straight people being so “tolerant” about it.saying “oh boo-hoo the poor gay people need to get married “. Just because Brad Pitt is gay and donates 100k (which he probably spends a month on cigarettes) to some cause doesn’t make him a saint , it just makes him interested in self promotion.
I went to see BAR last night. I thought Brad’s part was too short. He was very good and very funny. I thought the movie was a bit too short I wanted it to last longer.
I don’t support gay marriage but I admire him for making a stand on the issue… his words were very well chosen.
Oh Angie, when are you coming out?
this man is so awesome ……………ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh ohhhhhhhhhhhhhhh and he’s not even gay ,most openly gay celebrites would’nt do this………………………i wonder will brad and angie come back to usa to vote on nov 4…………………. peace…………….obama/biden08
WHAT A HYPOCRITE! Brad’s already BEEN MARRIED!

Brad Pitt is reportedly donating $100K to fight a California November-ballot initiative aimed at eliminating the right to gay marriage.
“No one has the right to deny another their life, even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8,” the actor said in a statement, according to the Los Angeles Times.
Brad’s donation is the largest to a campaign against Proposition 8, by an A-list celebrity, according to the newspaper.
The “Burn After Reading” actor is well known for his charitable efforts. He and partner Angelina Jolie regularly contribute to children’s causes. Brad is also highly involved in helping the New Orleans area devastated by Hurricane Katrina.
In 2006, Brad said he and Angelina would not marry until all couples had the same rights.
“Angie and I will consider tying the knot when everyone else in the country who wants to be married is legally able,” the star told the October 2006 issue of Esquire.
Brad and Angelina aren’t the only star couples who have made such a statement. Oscar winner Charlize Theron said she would not marry her beau, Stuart Townsend, until marriage was legal for homosexual couples as
This is a wonderful thing that he is doing, loved his statement.
Right on Brad! To Each Their Own.
i glad angie has this time out of sight to bond with her growing family these two awesome people should be praised for their humanity and modest charm this what good decent people conduct their lives…………….
to chinifer # 98 , you have it all wrong , ms JA has not moved on, she is miserab le and sorry for having lost some one like BRAD, i bet you that every day she asks her self , how did that happen? unfortunately she will never know if she keeps thinking and believing that what she claims she wants and who she is , is not really it .
i just hope that she doesnt effect in any way , BRAD AND ANGE s life
i strongly agree with BRAD about gay relationships, i believe every one deserves to be happy has long as you dont hurt any one, my opinion in meeting many of them , i feel they are very respectful, warm people

I totally agree. I wanted the movie to be longer too, and also felt that there was not enough Brad. He was really funny. I truly love the choices he is making in his movies. He has become very diverse. He has always played against the grain…Snatch, Seven, Fight Club, AOJJ. He has been in this industry for almost 20 years. He is still relevant and creates a frenzy whenever he is on the red carpet, or mentioned on and web post. That speaks volumes. How many other actors can one say the same of. Too many men of the moment. I’ll put my money on longevity every time.
To the people who call him dumb, make no doubt this man knows how to work and nurture his image. He can teach a lot of other celebs a lesson in PR>
I really enjoy him more now as he has gotten older. Its great to see a man when he knows who he is, and what he wants. Brad has gotten to that point. Too Sexy for words.
I’m Muslim and i’m totally against it and i would fight against it,if it was in my country because my country is an Islamic country and even supporting this kind of issue are as bad as doing it according to Islamic beliefs.
but the fact that we are talking about America,a country which is not Islamic and also is considered to be one of the biggest Democratic country in the world, makes a whole another story. I think if people in America are dealing with this issue very easily and being gay is not against law in your country,so why not making it legal? and i absolutly like what brad told about living the way you desire for. we are not going to get another chance for living,so let’s enjoy it. it doesn’t mean i’m a supporter, but i think it is everyone’s right to be happy.

So very very true. Brad has always been underestimated by some because they only looked at the outer man and knew nothing of the inner man just as Angelina said in an interview.
Brad is living his life on his terms, he knows exactly what is important in his life and what isn’t. He is a treasure.
my wish is one day Brad and Angie also get married, because i would like to see them wearing wedding rings, but i believe it is their choice and their life. i think they are happy now and they don’t need marriage. as long as they are happy, nothing else matters. i will pray for them and all other couple in the world.
hi to people here. it is morning for me,very early and obviously night for most of you.so good night people here.
Sarah Palin would not agree with this move Brad. She is against gay union. Way to go Braddy! I love you!

I’m gay and I totally disagree with the idea of gay marriage.
If I may ask - why?
Just because Brad Pitt is gay…….
Why do you say that?M
hahaha,if you are really gay,so why are you against your rights? and Brad is with the sexiest woman in the world, gay men are going to turn straight for her. and the fact that brad is talking about this gay thing makes him more straighter than those who are undercover gay and never talk about this issue, ask Tom and Will and Travelta and Clooney, they will tell you.
Orchid @ 09/17/2008 at 10:14 pm
Please can’t you tell this is a faniston. Key word “saint” and “promotion” plus calling Brad straight and gay in the same comments. Sometimes Orchid I think you just like stirring up stuff
i’m so sorry,i shouldn’t come here anymore while i’m fasting. i didn’t mean it. i didn’t want to get into this kind of thing and this kind of discussion in this holy month. sorry if you felt insulted. and i shouldn’t talk about Tom and other men in my comment like that.
i guess,i better leave and came after my fast. i should keep my mouth shut about people i don’t know.bye fans. have a great night.
I am so proud of my Brad. His speech is so sweet and so right.
The discrimination in all its forms being religion, sexuality, skin color is the most deplorable and infuriating thing in the world.

Your self-hatred is going to corrode you from the inside out. And just because you have a hard-on for Brad doesn’t make him gay.
You need some serious help.
i don’t think you have to agree with what brad says to admire the stand he’s taking, that’s where i am, for someone who have nothing invested or who have no motive, would stand for people who can’t help themselves, it’s always nice when others who are in a better position are willing to extend a helping hand, it’s a nice gesture. that’s all.
Only God can judge all this but this is sooo wrong and so against the Bible! The words of Christ says so!!! This is his choice and like I said I leave it to the Lord to judge.
Way to go Brad. I agree, everyone should have the right to get married. It won’t hurt anybody if a couple chooses to tie the knot, whether they’re straight or gay. I agree. Good evening and good night.
