Brad Pitt Fights For Gay Marriage

Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to fight California’s Proposition 8, a ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in the state.

“Because no one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another, and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8,” the 44-year-old actor said in a statement.

Political strategist Chad Griffin, who is coordinating efforts in the entertainment industry to defeat the measure, added, “It is our hope that others in the entertainment industry will step up and match Brad Pitt’s heroic commitment to quality and defeating Prop. 8. This isn’t a special interest issue - this measure affects every business and every family. With California’s budget and the national economy in chaos, the last thing we need is an unnecessary measure that threatens health benefits and protections for children.”

OT
but I just love Denzel - he has written a good commentary on the state of children in the US.

Commentary: Pay attention to the children in crisis

By Denzel Washington
Special to CNN
Editor’s Note: Two-time Oscar winner Denzel Washington joined the Mt. Vernon Boys & Girls Club in New York at the age of 6 and remained an active member for the next 12 years. The actor credits his early years spent at the club with changing the direction of his life. Since 1994, he has served as a volunteer national spokesman for Boys & Girls Clubs of America, appearing in public service announcements on television and in print. He’s also a member of the group’s board.

(CNN) — With the political season in full swing, much is at stake for America. The economy is in a downward spiral. We have an energy crisis. Our jobless rate is on the rise.

These are the subjects that generate headlines and much debate among the candidates.

But there is an underlying problem that we as a nation have not addressed, a situation that should concern any American with an eye on the future, regardless of party affiliation. It is the crisis affecting our children:

• Nearly 30 percent of this year’s freshman class will drop out of high school, according to the National Center for Education Statistics. That number jumps to 40 percent in some urban areas.

• The obesity rate for our kids has gone up by as much as 300 percent since 1980, according to the National Center for Health Statistics, triggering a host of health-related problems, from diabetes to heart disease.

• Young people account for more than 20 percent of violent crimes in the United States, according to statistics cited by Duke University’s Center for Child and Family Policy. Violent juvenile crime peaks between 3 and 4 p.m., at the end of the school day.

These facts are grim enough. Factor in persistent patterns of poverty, gang activity, drug abuse and teenage pregnancy, and you have a generation of Americans that will be unprepared — indeed, unable — to meet the challenges posed by a complex world.

We expect our leaders to lead. But as citizens, we shouldn’t simply sit back and hope that politicians stand up to the test. We can participate in the political process, advocating for policies that will benefit the health, education and well-being of young Americans, because we must do a better job of preparing our youth to lead.

It is daunting to think about solving such a widespread crisis. But there are youth-serving organizations that can and do play a key role in effecting positive change — places such as Boys & Girls Clubs, with a long track record of helping young people turn things around, get an education, lead healthy lives and become effective leaders.

I know, because I was one of those kids. Club staff taught me right from wrong and made the lesson stick. They planted the seeds early on that led me to envision myself as a high school graduate, a college graduate and an achiever in whatever field I chose.

Boys & Girls Clubs do this today for millions of kids, offering everything from homework help to career exploration, performing a daily miracle that turns hope into opportunity. Urging children and the adults in their lives to “Be Great,” these clubs communicate the idea that there is potential for greatness in every child. This powerful call to action reminds us that we can all play a role in helping youth realize their dreams.

So I ask you to join me in this effort. There are many ways to help:

• Volunteering at a local youth organization.
• Leading by example.
• Donating to charities that make a difference.

In partnership with government, schools, community leaders and parents, we can create a network and culture in which everyone embraces the importance of a positive future for our youth.

But right now, with Election Day fast approaching, ask your local, state and national candidates what they are doing to help our young people become tomorrow’s leaders. Ask them to make children a top priority and tell them that you hold them accountable. If we all become advocates for our children, elected officials might just take action.

We can do better. And if we care about our nation’s future, we must do better.

OT Sharon Stone lost joint custody of Roan see ET or OK for info and Megan Fox calls AJ a superhuman goddess in GQ

How hilarious. Meg Ryan is the new John Mayer & the new Maniston!

Not only is she coming out 8 years after the fact and saying SHE was the one who dumped and ‘hurt’ Russell Crowe (I’m sure his long time gf and now wife Danielle appreciates Meg telling the world that in between meeting and eventually marrying her, Crowe fell in love with and was DUMPED by Meg Ryan.), THEN she also turns around and labels Dennis Quaid a cheater….8 years after the fact. Essentially saying Russell wasn’t what broke up the marriage, but that YES he was “there at the end.”

So…isn’t it amazing the double standard…Brad said there was no cheating, Angie said no cheating, Maniston says no cheating - and still Angie gets the homewrecker label from some. Yet Ryan comes out and says, yes..I cheated, Dennis cheated and Russell cheated.. a 3-fer…and no one gets even 1/16th of the grief AJ got.

It’s all in the new InStyle..that’s right ladies get your fashion and makeup tips and juicy adulterous details in the next issue. LOL

I guess she was able to see just how much mileage one can get in today’s pop culture (circa 2008) being a whiny tell-all kinda b*tch like Maniston..and stabbing ex’s in the back..

Only thing is Meggy, though I luv Dennis, he’s no ‘Brad Pitt,’ thus no one will care…that much.

This will play excellently in Australia where people can finally read all about Crowe and Ryan’s relationship.

She sure doesn’t give a damn about Crowe’s current wife and family though.

I always knew Ryan wasn’t really worthy of Crowe or Quaid. Both men seem truly happy now. Their careers are doing fine, unlike Ryan and her plastic face. The more I think about it..she and Aniston have a lot in common, sure Ryan is infinitely more talented - but she’s also another wack b*tch who has banished ‘Mom’ from her life. Bizarre and desperate.

anoble,great article,thanks for posting it

Angie is too strong to be a Bondgirl…I think she would upstage him…I think they could have great chemistry in an action flick, but just not in the James Bond franchise.

an oldie @ 09/22/2008 at 3:08 pm
Thanks, anoble, for the lipstick drawing video of Angelina. That artist is amazing, and he also draws upside down. Incredible.

an oldie, here is one from the same person doing Bette Davis with mascara. It is pretty cool too.

I agree Helen, even Angie said that she would prefer to play a Bond villain than a Bond girl. I think if she played a Bond girl she would end up overshadowing Bond completely. And frankly I think playing a Bond girl would be beneath her. She was already Laura Croft, why would she stoop to being a Bond girl. Bond girls are for the Megan Foxes of this world not Angelina Jolie.

will be back

so brad left angelina once’s again. He was in Paris last friday and we know he was in Normandy filming that commercial yesterday. Who knows when he arrived in Paris. The guy enjoys being away from his “partner” a lot.

Exclusive: Brad Pitt in Paris is shopping for his twins

Everything for his twins!

EXCLUSIVE - The American took advantage of a break in Paris chip to make a real grab for his babies…

There are two that will be really spoiled! And these little lucky there, it is obviously Knox Leon and Vivienne Marcheline, the twins of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, born on 12 July 2008 at the foundation Lenval Nice.

Passing through Paris last Friday, the actor was spotted in the exclusive neighborhood Victor Hugo (in the sixteenth arrondissement) in Paris. It’s in the shop “The Chatelaine”, which specializes in clothing for children from good families since 1960, located at 170 Avenue Victor Hugo, as Brad has made follies.

After a session of private shopping in this store closed to the public for the occasion, Brad Pitt reportedly left the premises bearing gifts for his twins.

When you know that the shop specializes in classic style, and we find particularly adorable embroidered slippers (between 35 and 40 euros per pair), the grenouillères cashmere (between 120 and 250 euros) or Chancellor still in (real) fur or embroidery English …It is said that they will be small beautiful Jolie-Pitt in their new clothes.

paper, are you stupid??you sound like a troll who is really familiar to me,quit the name change and stick to one

as you know family are coming back to State, they need warm clothes and that’s why Brad was shopping for his twins, god why can’t a man go to shopping without being labled as a bad partner,we didn’t even know he was there until now,so how do you know Angie wasn’t with him in Paris,or the whole family? maybe he was there for something related to his work on Normandly? and Normandly is near Nice.

So now the man can’t even work? Poor Bras and angie have to be 24// with each other and their kids because that it means they don’t like to be with one onother (are having problems) and are bad parents.

You people really need help!

Bras and angie = Brad and Angelina
24// = 24/7

juju- do you know where that article is from?

I concur to Brad’s eloquent statement in support of Proposition 8. Brad and Angie are consistently inspiring in their charitable endeavours donating in worthy causes. They are a cut above the rest and have raised the standards of philanthropy especially in hollywood. More power and blessings to the Jolie-Pitt foundation!

No i don’t. But that doesn’t matter, if Brad went to Paris or was passing through Paris, was because he need it to.

As we can see he is filming a comercial and starts a in movie soon and there are things he has too, like trying costumes etc. Tarantino, his director was seen 2 weeks ago in Paris and the week after in Berlin…

Brad and Angie’s demeanour when they are together or talking about their family is that of a couple who are deeply in love. and committed to each other. In my own opinion, everyday they “work” together as a family, the more that they feel closer and love each other. Their blessings are their healthy children and their love, their strength and their reason for making their family work their way.

juju @ 09/23/2008 at 2:27 pm

Thank you. i know this doesn’t matter, but when trolls don’t post the link,it means, they don’t have any source,or that is made up one. that’s why i asked for link.

Brad should do alot before start filming, and there is no qustion why he was there,he was there because he wanted to be there, and he had work to do. i can’t wait to see him with Angie on the red carpet again. he has lost his goatee and i want to see him again without that goatee, but i have to admit,i want to see Angie alot more than Brad.
