OlderBrad Pitt Fights For Gay Marriage
Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to fight California’s Proposition 8, a ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in the state.
“Because no one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another, and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8,” the 44-year-old actor said in a statement.
Political strategist Chad Griffin, who is coordinating efforts in the entertainment industry to defeat the measure, added, “It is our hope that others in the entertainment industry will step up and match Brad Pitt’s heroic commitment to quality and defeating Prop. 8. This isn’t a special interest issue - this measure affects every business and every family. With California’s budget and the national economy in chaos, the last thing we need is an unnecessary measure that threatens health benefits and protections for children.”

i don’t think you have to agree with what brad says to admire the stand he’s taking, that’s where i am, for someone who have nothing invested or who have no motive, would stand for people who can’t help themselves, it’s always nice when others who are in a better position are willing to extend a helping hand, it’s a nice gesture. that’s all.

If we see an injustice, we should call it out, other wise, our silence perpetuates that injustice.
It happens every day. At the play ground, older kids dominating the swings and not letting younger, smaller children have a turn.
In a broader context, discrimination based on colour, on race, on religion, on sexual preferences, we have the obligation when it presents itself, to say something about it, sometimes tactfully, sometimes without consideration for the other persons feelings.
So, I disagree that Brad has no personal investment in this, anymore then each of us who agree with this view. We do have a personal obligation as a member of the human race, as a person with a conscience, to call out discrimination against gays as a sin against the human being and thus also, a sin against God.
Why do I say that discrimination is a sin against God?
The truth of the matter is that there is no race that I know of, which doesn’t have homosexuals. Yes, yes, I’ve heard that Iran doesn’t have homosexuals but I don’t believe it. I know there are plenty of homosexuals in Pakistan. I’ve personally witnessed the oily boys myself standing on the street corners of Karachi.
I must therefore ask that question - are some people born homosexuals? If it is in their genes, then God made them this way. And if God made them this way and they can have sex with other homosexuals who are similarly attracted to them, are they not doing God’s will? And if they are doing God’s will, who am I to condemn them?

That interview made me all angry again. It was such a calculated and hypocritical piece of trash, and it makes me appreciate Brad and Angie all the more for the restraint they showed in not stooping to the level of those b**ches.
I hope X thank God everyday for the success she enjoyed with “Friends”, because I think success will continue to elude her in the future.
That for the most part the most fervent Brangelina, Bradfans, or Angeloonie, and Faniston fans can come together on this issue. I love it don’t get me wrong but why can’t we all come together to understand that antagonizing each other on the other issues is just silly. Just another comment: Just because a man who has a family with a woman who stands up for equal rights doesn’t make him gay. It makes him a compassionate(sp) human being. I’m straight to the point of ridiculousness (girls are cool but not in the sack …hee) and I still believe that our GLTB&Everyone in between deserve the same rights as everyone else in this hot ass mess of a country. I’m black and I think we have a long way to go to heal the wounds of what my race went through and still has to go through but don’t forget our Latino brothers and sisters, our Asians, our middle Americans, our ORIGINAL Americans, and our Gay and Lesbian brothers and sisters. Discrimination knows no bounds unless we all come together to tamp it down. No one should have to relinquish their soul to have a place in this world. The Bible may be a blueprint but we are the architechs and if the foundation isn’t sound then you don’t build.
