Brad Pitt Fights For Gay Marriage

Brad Pitt has donated $100,000 to fight California’s Proposition 8, a ballot initiative that would ban same-sex marriage in the state.

“Because no one has the right to deny another their life even though they disagree with it, because everyone has the right to live the life they so desire if it doesn’t harm another, and because discrimination has no place in America, my vote will be for equality and against Proposition 8,” the 44-year-old actor said in a statement.

Political strategist Chad Griffin, who is coordinating efforts in the entertainment industry to defeat the measure, added, “It is our hope that others in the entertainment industry will step up and match Brad Pitt’s heroic commitment to quality and defeating Prop. 8. This isn’t a special interest issue - this measure affects every business and every family. With California’s budget and the national economy in chaos, the last thing we need is an unnecessary measure that threatens health benefits and protections for children.”

2 million donation to a clinic? Very nice. But where are the 14 million for baby photos ????????

>>>>>>>>>>

LOL, whadya think silly?? That the $12m has a use-by date after which you have to throw it out?

how abt fighting and donating money for more important couses, millions of kids are killed by the us army in iraq and afghanistan and hes worries abt some gay people who already do and can marry

Sorry for being a bummer, but there is soooo many other things that brad could donate 100,000$ to. I really don’t care if he supports it or not but really brad has forgotten?

STUPID RICH CELEBS HAVE SO MUCH MONEY BUS SPEND IT IN SILLY SOUSES, THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT ISSUES RIGHT NOW THEN GAY RIGHTS. GAY PEOPLE ARE NOT BOMBED AND BLOWN INTO TINY BITS FOR NO REASION BY THE US ARMY, GAYS R NOT RAPED AND KIDNAPED, GAYS R NOT LEFT HOMELESS AND WITHOUT PARENT, GAYS ARE NOT HUNGRY AND IN NEED OF WATER AND MEDICAL HELP, GAYS ARE THE LAST THING ON THE LIST. WAKE UP ******* CELLEBS

I USE TO THINK BRAD WAS CLEAVER BUT SO WRONG

Agu @ 09/18/2008 at 12:08 am EBMO you are no one to judge me, so you’re no one to say I discriminate…
**********

Discriminate:
–verb (used without object) 1. to make a distinction in favor of or against a person or thing on the basis of the group, class, or category to which the person or thing belongs rather than according to actual merit; show partiality:

You are making a distinction against an entire group of people, (gays)
and classifying them as “unnatural.”
Yes, you are discriminating.

Agu:
I don’t think that people can’t be love or have to be punish or something for been gay, I just say they can’t get marry because is NOT NATURAL and that’s not discriminate
********
actually that IS the very definition of discrimination.

Abu:
( is common sense, or even better: it’s God who doesn’t want it that way)
******
This is your opinion. This is your concept of what God wants.
It is the same as Hitler’s concept that God wanted the Jews destroyed.
It is the same concept as a Jihad, “Holy War” in the name of Allah, Forcing Christianity on Native Americans and enslaving Blacks.

Abu:
they’re the ones who chose to broke the rules
*****
Again in your opinion, using your rationalizations.
In reality, it is none of your business. No one is requiring that you marry a gay person.

Abu:
And I’m not talking about any problem that any marriage can have (because of course, everybody has problems) I’m talking about what is behind that and I know it because I’VE SEEN IT
*******
What exactly are you talking about?
Have you researched this? Done legitimate double blind studies?
In the scientific method there is a large sample of a population of people studied and the results have to be reliable and verifiable, meaning they have to be able to be duplicated.

There is no such reliable study showing that gay marriages deviate from the norm as far as a “happiness” quotient in and of itself.
Gay people have a difficult time because people like you discriminate against them. (re-read the definition again if you are confused)

Abu:
I don’t know who is Brad Pitt to give orders
*****
He did not give orders. He made a statement about something he believes to be right and he stands behind it.

Abu:
(”I won’t marry if gay marriage isn’t accepted”) anyway… Someone famous has to appear for people to say something…
******

You DO discriminate against gay marriage calling it unnatural and using your concept of God as a rationale. Again, same sex marriage has no effect on you other than it makes you uncomfortable because of your predjudice against it.

Don’t try to dress your opinions up as God’s law. That is YOUR God’s law, religions are only as valid as the weight people place on them.

There are a lot of different faiths, with different values and every one of them is dear to the people who follow.

Don’t try to force YOUR GOD or YOUR idea of common sense on me.
I did not judge you I stated facts.

dianad, thanks so much for that link. Just when I might feel like I can let up on the TV sit-com HACK, something like that reminds me of just why and how I came to loathe her weak passive aggressive manipulative fame wh*ring asss. It’s all there - I need to bookmark that fat cow leslie being interviewed by of all people Couric (real important topic there ‘katie,’ ya b*tch!), just to remind myself WHY I find Aniston and her PR so loathesome. What I found incredibly deceptive is Bennett’s mischaracterization (actually lies) of Brad’s statements in an interview SHE conducted — did you hear that?? Couric asks her about her interview with Brad, and if she saw signs — Bennet says there were clues…and get THIS: actually LIES and tried to paint Brad as just the worst — flippant and casual about committment — she says Brad was saying a year before that ‘if something wasn’t GOOD anymore, people shouldn’t stay together’ — says it like two times (it was her article, she should KNOW what he said verbatim — he said specifically, two people should be able to GROW together, and when they stop growing - the relationship dies..THAT is what he said, and she knew it ) but instead of telling the truth - she says he clearly had an idea of marriage that was different than Aniston’s. Painting Brad as wanting to split when things weren’t good, and painting Aniston as the committed honorable person. Which DIRECTLY contradicted even what Aniston said about Brad. What a fat evil twaht that Bennetts was/is. Then she kept saying that aniston showed so much ‘restraint,’ - kept saying that over and over — yeah that’s another way of saying she COULDN’T say anything bad about Brad without telling LIES, NOT that she was ‘restraining,’ herself. She may have been restraining herself from being even more full of sh*t than she actually was.

Ugh, what a mad COW.

Good news - all quiet on the tabloid front for the most part.

@ palvasha

It is not Brad Pitt’s nor any celebrity’s responsibility to correct the different bombings, rapes, kidnapping incidents all over the world. It’s an issue that the leaders of that country concerned and the global community’s responsibility to. And Brad Pitt has no say on the defense and national security of these countries, and he, definitely, has no say on how the US army should operate. God, chill woman!

And don’t start with causes about the homeless, orphans, children without education and medical help because Brad and Angie have done more than enough on their own capacity (compared to most celebrities) to help these causes. MIR is rebuilding for the homeless hurricane Katrina victims in Lower 9th ward. They have opened their home to 3 beautiful children from Africa and Asia (Mad, Pax & Z) and showered them with their love equal to that of their own blood. As for education and medical help, haven’t you read that thay have just donated $2 mil to the Global Health Committee to build the TB/HIV/AIDS clinic in Ethiopia. How about the Maddox Chivan Children Center in Cambodia where they also provide not only medical assistance, education but also social services to the children there? Or the other $2 mil they donated for the education of Iragi refugees as well as American corps children? I suggest next time, before you burst a vein and ramble stupid things, do your research.

And the issue in Prop 8 is not only about gay marriage, it is about equality, dumb ass!

Okay, back to lurking…

Ditto!

I never really had anyhting against her until she started all that crap.
I honestly cannot see why a woman would want to be viewed as a pathetic object of pity.

and it goes on and on and on and on

dianad1968 @ 09/18/2008 at 1:56 am

Cliniqua,

I stopped watching it half-way through, because I could literally feel my blood pressure rising. You know what really made me angry? when she said X showed restraint considering the behavior of her husband. God, what a b**ch. I wonder how much she got paid for by X and Huvane. Aniston will continue to be a loser, until she, if she has any integrity , set the record straight.

That hatchet job was done for the sole purpose of destroying Brad and Angie. But what they fail to understand, is that “good always wins over evil”.

I imagine X lies awake many a nights wondering how the h**l her life got so messed up. Yes, she is rich, has money to do what ever she wants, but I am almost sure she is not too happy. A dirty conscience will do that to you. The fraud. I despise her even more after seeing that video.

I’ve just cut and pasted the relevant bit about how Wall street woes will affect main street.

In any case it looks like Lions Gate, which I think is producing Ayn Rand’s book, Atlas Shrugged, has the money to go ahead with production if it wants to.

GM, Domino’s, Qwest Say Wall Street Woes Spreading (Update2)

Film studio Lions Gate Entertainment Corp. shouldn’t be adversely affected by Wall Street’s crisis after raising money for films last year, Vice Chairman Michael Burns said in an interview. The company also has a $340 million credit facility with JPMorgan Chase & Co. and Wachovia Corp., and more than $250 million in cash and cash equivalents.

Lions Gate, based in Vancouver and run from Santa Monica, California, has become more conservative with how it invests its money and sticks to government securities, Burns said.

“There’s too much volatility in the marketplace,” he said. “Now we only park money in places that closely resemble Caesar’s wife — beyond reproach.”

dianad1968 @ 09/18/2008 at 2:03 am

The parasite known as X also has an interview in Hello magazine, it is on Celebitchy, and again in her passive-aggressive way, you can tell the pink elephant is again the JPs. The next freaking time one of these idiots come on here and talk about how she has moved on, and no longer wants Brad, I will tell them to F**K OFF. Because that’s a lot of bull. This woman will continue to dog them, even as she disappears into obscurity.

The JPs may have to do seance to get rid of her out of their lives. LOL.

I saw that interview on tv. I must give Katie credit for picking out the most important part of the VF article, ie, the Courtney Cox quote. And at the end of the interview she said “I wished her (JA) well”, then added right away “I wished ALL of them well”. I like Katie Couric, at least she is impartial.
I still hate VF to this day.

Only God can judge all this but this is sooo wrong and so against the Bible!

Read Exodus lately? “Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live.”

They took that literally in Salem, MA in the 17th century.

Why save a marriage that wasn’t working?

Good evenging to all of the BAMPZSKV night owls. I am posting late again. Broke fast, went to dinner came home late.

Persiancutie, salaam. I don’t post during the day I wait until I break fast. It is too easy to get involved with the conversations. And some of them can be quite negative which spoils your fast. You will work it out. We only have two weeks left after this week.

I realize Prop 8 is a anti gay marriage bill, but IMHO Brad isn’t talking about just gays. He is talking about everyone having the right to live their life as they see fit as long as they are not hurting anyone else. I can agree with that.

Passing Through, you are not alone in your feelings about GC. But I was able to sit through BAR without becoming ill. He wasn’t annoying. MHO. He basically plays the same character he always plays. There isn’t much depth or variety in him. It is evident that he doesn’t have Brad’s ability to hide himself and play different roles. Brad is really good in this movie. Good night to all of the fans. Peace

This man speaks sense. Unlike most celebrities out there. I hope they vote Obama as seen as the Republicans are so radically against gay marriage.

is he gay???

Amen to that.

it is so sad that a person who is doing good is being attacked. i guess it is just how it is.

128 lylian @ 09/17/2008 at 10:55 pm

I must therefore ask that question - are some people born homosexuals?
——-
Are gay people born gay or is it their environment that makes them gay. I leave that to the experts.
Also, I have a friend who says she can tell when someone is gay even if he/she sounds or appears totally straight. I can’t.

He’s right. What marriage does most of all is protect children. A man and a woman, or two men, women, two adults, they can negotiate and sign away rights and protections as they need to (tho not always without suffering, ask any unmarried couple facing a crisis in an emergency room). But children benefit most of all from being the legally declared ward of specified adults, with all of the protections of inheritance, custody, guardianship, healthcare, you name it. Maybe it is just a roundabout way of getting AJ to the altar, who knows, but the spirit of the donation is spot on.

8 is enough (Bush years)

No on 8 (the proposition).

I’m afraid so. Whatever he does, some people give him hell. I hope he doesn’t get discouraged about doing good things.
