Tom Cruise: Katie Was Extraordinary!
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise enjoy a celebratory dinner at Angus McIndoe restaurant after opening night of All My Sons in New York City on Thursday night.
After Katie’s Broadway debut, Tom briefly stopped moving through a crowd at the theater to tell the Associated Press, “Did you see it? … It was extraordinary.”
There were roughly two dozen members of an anti-Scientology group that protested around the theater before the performance. The protesters held up sign saying “Scientology is a Cult,” “Free Katie,” and “Scientology Kills.”
“She was extraordinary!,” Tom gushed after watching the performance.

You know it is bad enough that TC would steal the thunder from his own wife, playing it up to the crowd like that. But that is just DOWN RIGHT RUDE to the other serious actors (like Dianne Wiest & John Lithgow). He really didn’t *have* to make such a big scene! GRRR Makes me dislike him more and more!
FWIW, Katie looked adorable in her part (if a little too thin IMO), but as herself she just looked old, and a 2nd rate actress. :(

This d*** is in a theatre with two of the most respected actors on Broadway and he stops the crowd to tell them that his wife was extraordinary? I like him less with each passing day. And, what’s worse, he has totally brainwashed her.
I’m not surprised that Jesus of Scientology walked in at the last minute to steal the attention. Sounds exactly like something he would do.

I have always thought she was cute, but her recent hair style is horrible. Every recent picture she looks older and more plain. I’d fire the stylist!
I don’t think Tom deliberately thought, “Oh, let me steal attention from the other actors!” I just think he was excited for his wife. I think she really needed to do this and do it well. John Lithgow and Katie went out and took pictures for the press earlier. The press focussed on Tom and Katie. I also think that the other actors are glad the play is getting attention and getting a good audience. We only know a tiny bit of what happened. Did you want Tom not to attend his wife’s opening? Should he have hid ? I don’t like Scientology. I think it’s weird. I think sometimes TC can act like a total jerk, OK? But there is no reason for all the hate. When I look back at some of the many movies I really have enjoyed, most of his movies are near the top of that list. You don’t have to like him, but acting so hateful about Katie and about TC is silly.
If you think Katie looked stressed all those days due to her first performance on Broadway.. No, that was not it.. Was it because she missed Suri, yes but that was not the complete reason for her sullen look.. It was the thought of what Tom would do when he would come to see her performance.. “will he start jumping on the couch (or seat)”. “will he just grin like crazy and say things like amazing, extraordinary”.. Get a thesaurus Tom, there are other words to describe a performance.
Dude whats with acting so immature.. i mean shaking hands with fans/friends causing the performance to start late.. what gives?
Wait till Suri has her first soccer game.. he will scare all the other parents away with sideline coaching..

I agree with # 18 and #19. He is her husband. He would be so proud. Haters would always be haters. I watched Tom walked in on the last minute and there was nothing wrong with it. He was very gracious to everyone in the theatre. What do you want him to do? Watch backstage? Regardless, even if he sat down an hour early, people would still notice him. When he walked in on the last minute, he saw Hoffman and naturally, he had to say hi. He didn’t mean to steal the spotlight. He is the spotlight. He is Tom Cruise and that’s not his fault. People inside the theater actually applauded. There was nothing wrong with how he did it. He was a husband who watched his wife perform. What’s so werid about that? And people would still criticize him for every little thing that he does.
I thought Katie did well. She’s quite thin but she’s gorgeous. Even without the makeup after, she’s really exquisite.

Ohh and btw - The peaceful group of anonymous protesters were harassed and followed by aggressive and disturbed cult members. They followed them to the theatre seemingly h*ell bent on creating some type of disturbance. But the NYC anons refused to be baited.
This group of $cientologists laughed and smiled as they were handing out information to the general public containing the protesters personal information and photos (aka name fagging) in an attempt to intimidate them and show them that they had been tracked down by their private investigators.
One particularly strange cult guy was yelling out prozac and other psych drug references. (You know Tom and his cult want the global obliteration of psychiatry - and they blame them for 9/11 amongst other things by the way).

Like I said in the previous thread, I was at the preview last night and I was pissed the way Tom entered. He waited till everybody was in their seats and the lights were about to go down and then he entered like the king! He was a total jerk about it. He made it seem like it was all about him. The whole play had to be delayed while he shook hands with his friends. On top of that, I sat 2 rows behind him and he kept talking to a woman who was sitting next to him who was obviously his friend cause he kissed her before he sat down. It was soooooo rude! He was disrespectful to Katie and the rest of the cast. I wasn’t crazy about him before but now I really hate him. I hope he doesnt go to anymore shows (fat chance).
He didn’t have to watch from backstage. He could have taken his seat earlier (like 15-20 mins before curtain) this way there would be time to say hello to his friends and not disrupt the start of the play. He was plain rude. Like it was all about him. I honestly don’t know what such a sweet girl as Katie is doing with him! I was pissed and so were other people in my row. People were rolling their eyes and laughing!!
Oh yea, someone asked if Suri or Tom’s kids were there. No they weren’t. I looked around cause I wanted to see gorgeous Suri in person, but no luck. Besides, a Broadway play is not the right place for a baby anyway. As far as his kids, no luck there either. Tom just sat with friends who he kissed when he got into the theater. Some were in the same row as him and some were in front of him. Also Dustin Hoffman was at the end of my row, 2 rows back from Tom.
Katie did really well. I think Tom should stay home from now on tho. Those protesters were there because of him not Katie!!

It was obnoxious. I was at Leicester Square for the premiere cause I’m a Katie fan and he was a real douche. I wanted to get her autograph but she stood back and let him sign all the autographs even tho people were yelling for her!

A friend of mine saw All my Sons yesterday and i altough she like the play (it’s not a masterpiece), she though Katie was not acting naturally, she seemed forced and very nervous…and she said she is very pretty and much thiner than in pics!

Uh I believe it said he was talking to the AP when he said “Did you see it?”…not the crowd. Again, I say Tom is known to be one of the most gracious people in Hollywood…leave him alone. They look great and in love….you all must be jealous of them. That’s the only reason I can see for all the bad karma. Let us not fool “ourselves”. Hundreds of people did not buy tickets to see Katie Holmes..period. If hundreds were there, it was because of the playwright, John Lithgow, Diane Weist, and Patrick Wilson. It seems that people on this forum continuously read something that isn’t there. This is the perfect example.
Next quote:

The three professionals took the stage first. Then Katie followed after them. Do you really think that everyone stayed seated when Lithgow, Weist, and Wilson came out, then stood up when Katie Holmes followed? Get real people. Quit living in a fu*ked up fantasy world.

He was popular at the Batman Begins premiere and sire everyone wanted to see him but he should have just entered and not behaved so childishly even though he likely never had any intention of offending anyone. It was his girlfriend’s time to shine and he should have let her.
For the “All My Sons” premiere though, he did nothing wrong and everyone is just nit-picking.

It’s because she is pathetic.
She belongs in a dinner theater, not broadway. Being married to Tom would be a plus to get her the perfect lead in a great movie if she were a good or great actress. Even Tom’s 25 years in Hollywood can’t persuade someone to give this “actress” a leading role.

I actually think Katie looks very nice. She looks happy and in love. As far as Tom , I really doubt he was the only person at the theater still being seated and ushered himself in like the King of Broadway.( no show I have ever been to has started on time , and people are always coming in last minute…not just Tom) And as for saying Katie was extraordinary , what else would her husband say. He’s not married to the other actors , he’s married to Katie. I’m very sure John Lithgow and Diane Wiest didn’t need to be included in Tom endorsement , they are wonderful and everyone knows that. Tom was just excited for his wife.

The hand-holding is the most artificial thing. Not relaxed like a content couple; very stagy and over-done. He is manic. He was with Nicole and she couldn’t take his over-wrought, controlling, nature.

Katie looks very pretty here.I am glad to hear alot of the early reviews by fans and such are good. I guess we will have to wait a while for the “real” critics , but then again they are not always right . I just wish the whole cast luck. It is such a great play.Katie is lucky to be working with such great actors. I do think she will be able to hold her own.
