Katie Holmes: Showtime!
Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise arrives at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre in New York City on Friday night.
Audience reviews of Katie’s performance has been pretty positive with most people believing she did a solid job.
And from a slightly biased perspective, husband Tom Cruise thought she was extraordinary!

Jared, you can’t say “reviews have been positive” as there haven’t been any reviews–simply comments from a few people who saw the show. The critics won’t review it until next month, so please stop with the tongue bath, as it’s quite unbecoming.

It just goes to show that true Hollywood Glamour is just about gone, gone, gone. The only ones left is Clooney, Pitt, Jolie, Kidman (sortof) and I believe that is about it. I can’t think of no one else because the others are older now and not making full movies anymore.

Anyone who thinks Katie doesn’t want to be doing movies and isn’t trying to get them like crazy is fooling themselves. THe fact is no one wants to hire her. The one movie role she’s gotten in the last three and a half years was only because the producers were worried their first choice–Lindsay Lohan–wouldn’t show up on time. So Katie got a part because she knows how to tell time. What a glowing endorsement.
She wanted “Nine.” She got turned down. I heard from a good source she desperately wanted “Wonder Woman,” but was laughed out of the office (so to speak). She was not asked back to do “The Dark Knight” (that’s the truth), so, suddenly, she’s all about doing Broadway. Could it be because a producer actually thought a bit of stunt casting would help ticket sales? That seeing Mrs. Tom Cruise in person was some sort of enticement (which, if the ease in which tickets can be bought is any indictation, proved incorrect)? And, please, she begged her old Dawson’s Creek producer for a guest spot on a show that will likely be cancelled by mid-season (though it is an entertaining show).
Katie’s stock in Hollywood is in the single digits. That’s a fact, worshippers.

Tom Cruise is a fame ***** and Katie is a robot wife whose brain has not developed enough yet to realize her marriage is a mirage. Yes she IS talented. If you have ever seen the INDIE movies she has done in the past you can see that. BUT, and it is a BIG BUT, she is tragically flawed somehow to be blind to Cruise’s Narcissistic psychotic personality. I’m old enough to remember that not long ago he was a mere joke of an actor. His skills are overrated, and those who are younger have only the impression that he has any (acting skills, aka talent) because his ACTION films were successful. Action films don’t require great acting skills. Especially the ones he has been in. Now it is becoming evident because he has gotten older and not as bankable and believable in the action roles. So, low and behold, the KIng has no clothes on and is bareass and untalented before us. What a friggin surprise.

Did anybody notice that right after all the bad publicity about poor ticket sales for AMS a couple of months ago, the producers (one is supposedly a cult member) came back within just days and announced that advanced ticket sales had suddenly gone from under $1 million (disastrous) to $3.5 million and that the play was not hurting at all? The producers left one small detail out…..Tom Cruise bought the $2.5 million that were practically sold overnight.
So for all you here who live in some fantasy world about Katie’s ability to act, even with big names (Lithgow, Weist, and Wilson) this play about closed before it opened because people figured if Holmes is in it, it can’t be good…which, by the way, is completely rational.

Katie is a superb actress. The theatre was so full. Pictures on TMZ show that the theatre was so full. Over 100 fans were outside to support her too. I am a huge Katie Holmes fan. I wish I was there.

Jared must’ve edited that to read “audience reviews.” When I read it last night, that was NOT how it read. Perhaps he’s realizing just because he says something doesn’t make it so.
She was OK and by opening night in October she should have gotten over the jitters. She had a tendency to project and it will get more natural as time goes on. Not a big fan of hers but I couldn’t find much to complain about in her performance.

The whole cast got a standing ovation, not just Katie. I was there so I know. John Lithgow, Pactrick Wilson, Diane Weist and Katie are all pro’s and they all deserved it together. Katie was OK in the part. She did fine but everyone got the ovation, not just her. Its an insult to the other theater veterans to say otherwise and its not true.
I’m really happy for Katie that she did well and I hope she gets even better as time goes on, which I think she will!
I also hope that Tom doesn’t keep going to the show every nite. He was rude when he walked in right before the curtain went up and held up the show. I didn’t appreciate that. They made it sound like everybody was so thrilled to see him but thats not what I saw. Some people were excited, sure. But it wasn’t like the whole audience was all about him! I think he has a problem. I think he was jealous that Katie was getting all the attention and he wasn’t! He could have sat down earlier so he wouldn’t have delayed the show but he didn’t. He also didn’t need to walk in with a bunch of bodyguards (like 3) like he did. He did it to attract attention to himself and that sucks! He needs to go back to LA so Katie can have her time in the spotlight.

just how do you know that jared is lying about getting some positive reviews about katie? you ever hear of the internet?? people who were there last night emailed what they thought about katie to jared. i should know i was one of those people. that’s because i was in the audience last night. were you?? i didn’t think so. let’s be clear i’m not necessarily a katie fan nor do i hate her. but i am an arthur miller fan; i would to go to one of his plays at the drop of a hat. i’d even go if you were in it, which is saying a lot.
let me tell you how it works, ok, because obvioulsy you don’t have a clue. while it would be nice to have the critics from the new york post, new york times etc on your side what really counts in the theatre is word of mouth. i have seen plays and musicals that the critics raved about close after only weeks. why, because the audience-you know the paying public-didn’t agree.

Friends who saw the play said that Lithgow and Weist were superb and Patrick was great, but Katie was only good. Katie and Tom are a class act and they always have Suri dressed so gorgeously. It is so nice to see a little girl in dresses for a change and not the horrible clothes that are out there now for children. I see nothing hot about Jolie and Pitt. I think they are a weird couple.
I have to say that I think she is dressed so much more appropriately here. Put together and not so old. Plus I would love to see the shoe!
