OlderTravis Barker, DJ AM Injured in Fatal Plane Crash
Former Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker and Adam Goldstein, aka DJ AM, were injured in a plane crash that killed four people (3 males, 1 female) and critically injured two, NBC News reports.
Both Travis and DJ AM were in critical condition as of Saturday morning and transported to a burn center in Augusta, Georgia.
The FAA said the plane carrying six people was departing from South Carolina’s Columbia Metropolitan Airport headed to Van Nuys, Calif., when an air traffic controller reported seeing sparks. The plane went off the runway and crashed on a nearby road.
Travis performed Friday night at an event with Perry Farrel, Gavin DeGraw, and DJ AM. Earlier this month, Travis and DJ AM were the house band at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Travis, DJ AM, their friends and family.
UPDATE: The deceased are Sarah Lemmon (pilot), James Bland (co-pilot), Chris Baker (Travis’ assistant) and Charles Still (Travis’ bodyguard). Our deepest condolences and sympathies to all of their families and friends.

Very delicate time for them. Burns can cause severe shock,dehydration,infection. If they are as bad as i think they are..burns from jet fuel are deadly…then i pray that Adam and Travis pass away quicly with minimal pain. God Bless Them !!!

im a former nurse at the burn unit they are at and i can tell you that if they are listed in critical condition as i hear they are, it is not good. that’s a 50/50 chance of living through the complications of a severe burn. that is the #1 burn unit in the country though so if they are able to be saved, that hospital will save them. I hate to say they are going to have serious complications. My prayers are with them.

Augusta Burn Center is awesome . They do a lot of good there . Best recovery wishes for Travis and Adam , condolences to the families of the ones whom didn’ t make it .

COLUMBIA, SC (WIS) - Officials with the Columbia Metropolitan Airport say a small jet has crashed killing four.
Federal Aviation Administration spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says the plane carrying six people was departing shortly before midnight Friday when air traffic controllers reporting seeing sparks. She says the plane went off the runway and crashed on a nearby road.
Federal officials say two crew members and two passengers have been killed.
Officials say two people have survived the crash and have been carried to the Augusta Burn Center.
Officials at the Augusta Burn Center say they have Travis Barker, the former drummer from the band Blink-182, and Adam Michael Goldstein, aka DJ AM. Both are in critical condition. Barker and Goldstein were in Columbia Friday night for a concert at Five Points.
The National Transportation Safety Board has scheduled a news conference for 11:30am.
The airport will be closed until 12pm according to officials.
Autopsies are currently being performed to confirm the identity of the four who died in the crash.

This is terribly sad news, my thoughts are with the families of those involved.
This could be interesting… DJ AM is in the burn unit - critical. So he will become sort of a Phantom of the Opera guy, totally hideous and haunted by a happier past. He will not play the organ though, because he doesn’t know how - he will scratch records and lay down fat beatz. Also, he will stalk his Ex Nicole, who has her own life and is a new mother. He will lament over her for some time and then kidnap her and imprison her in his sewer-lair. He will serenade her with fresh cutz, but she will fear his ghastly looks. Then Paris and Benji will have to rescue her from his clutches and DJ AM will consume himself in a final conflagration. He had always wished he dies with his four friends in the crash. Well, that’s the story. My prayers are with both the survivors and the dead. I hope nobody famous died.

Okay..so bittersweet. I am happy that gavin and farrell weren’t on the plane. But still two people are seriously injured and most unfortunately, four people lost their lives. I will continue to pray for all.

dlisted has way better updates on this story. i guess AM’s face has been burned and is being worked on and Travis was burned from the waist down. I doubt either of these two are going to die. It’s two bad the people who lost their lives did. As someone said, they shouldn’t have been all about flying private and playing big pimpin’.. those smaller planes/jets crash more often is right. Plus it’s very wasteful in a time when people should be more considerate towards the environment.

They was the pilot co-pilot Barkers assistant and security guard Travis and adam on board. The jet went off the runway fell onto a highway was in flames witnesses say the only movement they saw was tarvis and adam running around trying to extinguish themselves. The witnesses attempted to get to the plane but the flames pushed them back Travis and Adam are in Agusta GA the closest burn unit.

This is wretched, horrible news. I cannot begin to imagine how excruciatingly painful it would be to almost die from jet fuel flames, and the mental and emotional pain of seeing others die this way, and then having to live with a forever deeply scarred body and face. DJ AM got his FACE burned! I hope these guys will survive and heal, there’s a 50/50 chance that critically injured 3rd degree burn victims make it after such a terrible accident. It’s going to be a hard next few weeks for these two men, and even with the strongest morphines on the planet, they won’t be able to escape all the pain.

Speaking of DJ AM, I next to nothing about whether or not he’s a “goof-off” or a “douchebag,” as some here say, but I DO know he’s a mind-blowingly talented DJ. He spins music like a natural genius, this guy. Once in a while, they’ll play stuff of his on 103.1, and listening to it, you never want the set to end. He’s got that gift of knowing & feeling music and beats, putting them together seamlessly, he really is a fantastic DJ. He’s one of the best of his kind in the world right now, IMO.

This is a plane crash. It wouldn’t have been any less tragic if there hadn’t been 2 celebrities on board. People died, and they had families who loved them. Leave the negative comments to yourself. It doesn’t matter what your opinion of the 2 celebrities is, they have families who are in pain right now. Your negativity shows you really don’t care about people, 3rd world country, security guard, or the plane’s crew. It’s called compassion. The back of the plane is always the safest spot on a jet, I’m pretty sure. The farther away you are from the fuel tanks or the wings, the better.

MSNBC tapped into a local South Carolina affiliate and reported this eyewitness account. A local man saw what he termed “a fireball rolling across the highway.”
Once he realized it was an airplane, he pulled over and approached the scene to help, nothing that jet fuel was strewn across the five-lane road.
He then reported seeing two men who were “basically dumped out of the airplane upon the crash, who were standing in the road on fire, hitting each other trying to put the fire out.”
Both Travis and DJ AM jumped out of the airplane doors upon impact. Travis was severly burned from the waist down and DJ AM was severly burned on his face.
Talk about Hell…. So sad.

I get the comments about the celebrity thing. For instance, 40 people died in a terrorist attack today but this store gets more coverage. I do hope the best for Travis and AM. But rest assured they have family and friends and fans who love them. Some people aren’t so lucky.
