Lauren Conrad - Emmys 2008 Red Carpet
Lauren Conrad is all smiles in a navy chiffon gown she designed herself for the 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards held at Nokia Theatre on Sunday (September 21) in Los Angeles.
The 22-year-old Hills star is set to present at the ceremony. Lauren and last season’s Project Runway winner Christian Siriano also designed gowns for the trophy girls this year.

I hate to say it, because her style is cute (not unique - but she wears trends very well): Her much “hyped” dress is nothing special… the shape, the color, the broach. It’s falls short of “couture” quality. Boring and drab. It looks like a dress anyone could pick out at a department store… ON SALE.

In my opinion, the dress is simple yet pretty but will anyone remember what she wore tomorrow?! It lacks any “Wow” factor for me.

I don’t like the black eyeliner she always wears. The dress is nice but once again she looks like she’s smelling a **** in all those pictures. Her smile is bad lately. Like she’s uncomfortable or something (**** smelling).
her dress is so average. even looks kind of cheap. the shape style color and broach are all so bland normal and seen before. i think the only reason why it looks somewhat decent is because she is wearing the dress, her prescense makes it look a bit better

What the **** is so extraordinary about her dress? She’s no designer, just some hack. I was in her fundamental sketching class last year at fidm and homegirl can’t sketch a dress to save her life.
And just so you know, that class that she’s in with Stephanie Pratt is actually a beginners adobe illustrator class taught by Barbara Sultan. Which coincidentally she took AFTER she launched her fashion knits line. FAIL!!!

And yes she should be there. She has been on MTV’s top show for 4 years. So what if she doesn’t act. I would like to see one of those actors carry a show without a script for 4 years. Stop putting her down!!!!!

and what do u mean u’d like to see ppl be on a show without a script??? it’d be pretty damn easy! im sure they would kill to be paid almost 100 grand per episode to just go to lunch and talk about their friends. im sure anyone would rather do that instead of an actual job. she gets paid more than half of the actors there and they actually work their butts off everyday.

the dress is cute, she looks cute, but if you look closely the dress isnt made well….the ruching in the bodice doesnt lay nicely and there is quite a bit of puckering. Other than that it is what she always does … she hides her “trouble spots” under flowy dresses.

i would like to ask if anyone on here actually knows what a designer is….lauren conrad did not make that dress herself. she has even said she can’t sketch properly so what exactly did she do? pick out a fabric? a color? demonstrate with words and hand gestures about what she wants her dress to look like??? then send it to the same manufacturers who make her crappy lauren conrad collection?? wooo big deal! anyone could do that! she is not a designer! she has no technical or creative skills…her stuff is boring and completely uninspired. she needs work experience with a designer for a few years NOT at a magazine and PR company like she has done. lauren conrad is a joke.

Seriously, I think Christian Siriano and Rami Kashou from last season’s Project Runway should’ve been the designers for the Emmys. There’s nothing special or eye popping about her dress. Something we’ve seen before, nothing new. Mind as well just get a designer who’s proven he or she has the talent to design AND has actually shown different variations in ALL areas of fashion.
I think that it is really sad how there are so many negative comments about the opportunity that Lauren has been given and her talent. I think that she has worked her butt off to get where she is right now. So what that her parents have money, she faced the same things that everyone else faced. I think she should be inspiration to those of you who think that she doesn’t deserve what she has, she didn’t let anything stand in her way of what she wanted for her life and instead of putting someone down because they may have more than you go out and get your own!!!! She looks beautiful and always does. The dress that she wore and the trophy girls wore was classy and very appropriate for the Emmy’s those who does not appreciate that have never watched the emmy’s!!!!!!
What a lot of sour grapes, I give Lauren kudos for not being one of the many others that flaunt famous designers in the contest of who spent more and got the best designer. These flamboyant red carpet prima donnas spend thousands on a dress they will wear once. The dress is pleasant and she looks as good as anyone without being phoney. All these sourgrapes show lack of sensitivity and probably a bit of jealousy. Her choice of dates was another point to her own grounded self awareness. Nothing phoney about this girl.
