Vanessa Williams glows on the red carpet in a custom Kevin Hall printed gown with a mermaid silhouette and one-shoulder beading detail at the 2008 Primetime Emmy Awards held at Nokia Theatre on Sunday (September 21) in Los Angeles.
The 45-year-old Ugly Betty actress is up for Best Supporting actress in a comedy. Other nominees in the category include: Kristin Chenoweth (Pushing Daisies), Amy Poehler (E), Jean Smart (Samantha Who?) and Holland Taylor (Two and a Half Men).

It’s too bad that she admitted she uses botox…it looks good in the beginning but after awhile she will not be able to move her face.
Yes, she is African American. She has two AA parents with a mixed lineage. Therefore if both parents have recessive eye genes, she could have blue eyes. My mother is AA and she has green eyes.
Vanessa is beautiful tonight, and I love that dress…..She did not win, but I’m surprised Jean Smart did. …..My pick was Christina Applegate….She has worked hard to get away from her ” kelly Bundy” days, and is a very talented and funny young woman……Jean is a talented actress also, but the character is not that funny…..at least to me!
Vanessa DOES NOT have blue eyes. Her eyes are grey as she has stated many times before.

JJ- Yes it is possible for black people to have blue, green, hazel, eyes. My father is a dark skinned man and has eyes with green tint , his brother was a fairskinned black man and had green eyes, and i have another uncle who has blue green eyes. Due to all the mixed lineage most blacks come from it is possible to have colored eyes. Whites don’t have the monopoly on that.
thanks, kk!!! I have 11 siblings and 7 of us have green, gray, ( and sometimes light blue) and ( what I call topaz) colored eyes, but what most would refer to as hazel. Sometimes our eyes look like marbles! Often depends on what color we’re wearing. Both my parents are African american. My great g-father was part Dutch. Go figure!! It’s a shame that some folk are still extremely ignorant about these things. The sad truth is, most people with stereotypical attitudes miss out on a lot of good, GENUINE relationships because they have these preconceived beliefs. what a shame………….
oh! Vanessa is gorgeous inside and out!! That’s what makes her a beautiful person regardless to what she wears. Inner beauty makes the outer glow!
