Sarah Palin - Beauty Pageant Video
Republican Vice-Presidential nominee Sarah Palin placed second at the Miss Alaska Pageant in 1984 and a video has surfaced! Check out the video here!
The clip shows the Alaskan governor (then Sarah Heath) walk on-stage in a red swimsuit, do a 360 spin and then walk off!
The announcer is heard saying, “Sarah says she wants to prepare for a career in television broadcasting by majoring in telecommunications and political science. It is no wonder that she has also been recognized by ‘Who’s Who?’ since she has displayed her leadership in all areas, from academics to student politics to athletics… Ladies and gentlemen, contestant no. 8, Sarah Heath.”

What a joke! this administration is so desperate. They are pulling all the tricks to sell this clown.
She will make a very good VP
McCain 2008 :)
She will make a very good VP
She will make a very good VP

Why? Because she can see Canada and Russia from her house and she can shoot caribou? LOL. Americans like you are the reasons your country is failing and the world laughs at your idiocy.
If Americans want to get their country back on track and stop being the joke of the world, you guys should vote for Obama. The rest of the world pretty much loves him already because he’s not an idiot.
OBAMA 08.
Sarah is truly amazing, she will bring solutions and peace. So what if she doesn’t know it all now, noone does, she will learn fast and will be a great VP. We need her, Osama is the lying idiot and detrimental to our country.
heaven help our country if McCain/Palin are elected…
Halli
LMAO!! Well, I am laughing at an idiot right now, in thinking that all Americans are ready to be sacrificial lambs for a candidate that has no place being in the oval office. His ideals are frightening, and dangerous for the American people.
She is DISGUSTING!
Honestly, who cares.
Whether you’re for McCain or Obama, aren’t you troubled by the lengths that folks are going to demean this woman? And many of them are traditional Feminists who’ve built careers in the grievance industry denouncing men for this sort of thing. So it’s okay to stand up for women everywhere who follow your agenda, but women who have a different opinion are empty headed evil barbie dolls? Pardon me, but as a woman I’m really disappointed by the way the power feminists treat those of us that don’t follow their chosen paths in lockstep.
she is discusting
America needs McCain and Palin and the rest of the world take notes!
well, jared, this really has nothing to do with the election and frankly it’s a bit sexist.
why not show a video of mccain or obama in a swimsuit?
i never thought i’d say this but i’m tired of all the people who objectify sarah palin. let her speak her mind and then let the american public decide if she’s ready to be vice president or not. what she looked like in 1984 wearing a red swimsuit is inconsequential.
i personally don’t think she’s all that good looking, anymore. :(
em g.
Can’t you say the same thing for Hilary Clinton? A much more intelligent and experienced woman compared to Palin who just happens to be a Democrat, yet she was treated terribly by the media and by many people. Its was pretty bad. The fact of the matter is, Palin constantly avoids reporters and questions unless they are handled in a way in which her people can control what kind of questions are thrown her way.
Joe Biden is available to the media to answer any questions that come his way, but Palin is hidden in some underground bunker somewhere in Alaska, while the GOP bring out Guilliani to answer questions that were originally adressed to her.
So overall, isn’t it actually sexist to insist that Palin be handled with kids gloves, when Hilary, Obama and McCain spent months campaigning and handling tough questions to prove their worth politically, yet Palin is MIA?
she reminds me of an actress playing in a stupid hollywood politic movie. her image is silly. McCAIN LOOKS LIKE A MUMMY. omg. She would press A RED BUTTON just to check how it works. Pure and poor parody on presidents of all times. OBAMA! GOGOGOGO!
she’s beautiful!
Go Palin/McCan!!
Okay dude, you’re suddenly starting to annoy the hell outta me with this chick. No one else cares about her being some beauty pageant whatever anymore. Paleez post more celebs and leave this dope out of it. Ew
halli:
let’s agree to disagree…
Hillary was embraced by traditioinal feminists, she is the manifestation of the 70s feminist, career woman, working mother of one child, liberal. It was the rest of the Democratic party, and largely men, who turned on her and fell in love with a shiny new penny for their candidate.
As for Biden, think the Democratic Ticket would be a lot better off if he hid a little more from the press as every time he opens up his mouth he makes a gaffe or says something totally opposite of Obama’s position.
I agree that Hilary and McCain have faced incredible media scrutiny, and plenty of it has been unfair. My point was not that Palin needed to be handled gently but FAIRLY. The only candidate not being scrutinized by the media, but in fact praised by them is Obama, a point that Hilary Clinton made herself over and over on the campaign trail. I don’t think she was a sore loser, I think she had a fair point.
She is disgusting. People that actually support her are disgusting.
in seeing videos of this woman as a former contestant in an irrelevant beauty pageant than I am in seeing if she’s actually competent to be the leader of the free world, if need be.
Bravo em g (#13)! Great post!
#17, Halli,
It isn’t Palin’s fault that she just now start campaigning. Would you hurl the same criticism toward Biden?
It is Palin who is treated worst by the media. Hilary was not treated terribly by the media and many people. All three–McCain, Obama and HIlary–have their worshipers and bashers. If you wanted to blame someone for Hilary’s failure to secure nomination, first blame her own party for not favoring her then blame who ever with load of money and enormous media power to back a novice politician whose resume and bio are incredibly sketchy going by the name Obama. But if you really wanted to blame someone for Hilary’s failure, blame her first. Clearly she did not have what it take to win the Democrat’s nomination. Personally I think she isn’t fit to lead. She cried when the going got tough to gain sympathetic support and she isn’t liked by majority of her peers who will become her mandarins if she’s elected.
And if you were going to argue on experience, frankly, no one except the running-for-second-term presidential candidate can claim to have experience in the job. So Palin has as fair an odd at succeeding in her VP job then possibly presidential job as the three you named, and for this reason, she should be given the same chance. As for her not answering questions, she might be one of those shrewd politicians who don’t divulge her thoughts until the time is right. Blabbers don’t make a shrew politician.
Palin has been governing Alaska. She is therefore technically the King, albeit of a small kingdom. No matter how more intelligent and experienced a mandarin is comparing to the King, he/she is still a mandarin. McCain, Hilary, Obama are mandarins to King Bush, no more no less at the moment.
So nice to see a normal person who had to figure out a way to get a college education that wasnt sponsored by my tax dollars , much like Obama who went to Harvard and Yale on my tax dollars only to decide not to practice law!!!
Sarah, appears to be intelligent and has proven herself in the great success she has had in Alaska
yea the U.S. is so bad a nation when so many people all over the world love to be in America. With America in a temporary crisis have you read how the rest of the world are in worst situations?
England is even worried about their Olympics status.
The price tag of oil from other nations made me stop whining of what we pay here. Americans whine too much because they have not been to other nations esp 3rd world countries.
Also some need lessons in Economics 101 because what goes UP goes DOWN. There is no such thing as stable straight economy.
China may be close in superpower that of the U.S. but some need to remember what happened to U.S.S.R. aka communism.
Lola,
Why is she disgusting? Because she was once a beauty queen? I think it’s great that a beauty queen has proven that she is more than candy to men’s eyes.
who the hell cares about this republican trash! i cant even stand to listen to her–her accent is god awful.
oh god my worst fear is a mccain/palin ticket.
this woman is disgusting.
Obama 08
Basing on the debate no wonder no Law Firm hired Obama because even my cousin a lawyer is smarter than him and can debate better than him. He looks rattled, irritated, stutters too much, has no eye contact because it means he is not genuine and classic signs of lying.
typicl loud lefties even Hollywooders including the media will brainwash everyone that Obama tops this election when the silent patriots will still go for McCain and Palin.
Dont underestimate the power of many Christians in America.
The media has been preaching Kerry and Gore will crush the Republicans when they were wrong.
Same with the media preaching how Bustamante will crush the Republican Terminator Governor when again they were so WRONG.
she is such trash. it confuses me how anyone can support her. her views are totally f*cked up.
oh god this woman is so freakin ridiculous.
Angela , do shut-up.
Palin is a a moron who was mayor of 6000 people. My high school had more people ( who understood bith control methods)
The woman is an idiot, nothing can hide that fact,. Unless someone destroys youtube and then gags her for four years.
Party affiliation isn’t even relevant, Palin’s own videos show she is about as smart as Katie Holmes and that ain’t good.
BTW, she lied in the contest, she was a General Studies major who had already changed colleges 3 times, Before that she flunked out as a Business major. it took five to graduate and her grades weren’t good.
Further, for all her strident endorsement of abstinence as birth control, she was knocked-up when she eloped. Fine, have sex, get pregnant, then get married, but then DON”T preach the abstinence as the best choice for birth control..
Additionally, she is against sex education and condoms, Ahem, no wonder her high school daughter is also pregnant before marriage.
Like I said, an IDIOT
em g,
Hilary was not a sore loser but in complaining (and crying) she showed that she can’t be president.
I agree Obama has enjoyed kid glove treatment from the media.
Palin’s interview with Katie Couric was embarrassing and cringe worthy, she is way out of her league and doesn’t have the credentials to be VP let alone be a heartbeat away from the Presidency!!!!
she has too be the most ridiculous person in politics. how the hell anyone supports this woman is beyond me!
oh god this woman is so revolting
dumb azz ho. her special baby will love being abandoned.
i cant wait till the vp debates.
this is gonna be comedy gold.
man I would never vote for mccain/palin and I am a australian

Those who criticize Sarah Palin are just plainly scared that their Obama will be defeated by McCain /Palin ticket. Their is no sense of personally attacking Sarah Palin for her experience but I have not heard anything about the inexperience of Obama who is running for the presidencey of a super power nation. Even his running mate Joe Biden commented on how inexperienced Obama is . Hillary Clinton and Joe LIeberman also voiced their opinion that Obama is not ready to be the President of the United States. And by the way to those who are smirking about Palin;s remark about how near Russia to Alaska, have you heard what happened to a neighbor of Russia, Georgia?
Be informed before you comment on something you are ignorant about.
Katherine,
There millions of teenage mothers in this country. Obviously sex education and condoms don’t work.
Palin is entitled to have and hold fast to her values many of which she, like most of us who have erred, learned (or returned to) after erring.
It is you who are hidebound and sadly the very thing you accused Palin of being.
Yeah, Sarah Palin is for the people, women especially!!
That’s why in Wasilla, Alaska where she’s currently Mayor, she’s making RAPE VICTIMS pay for their Rape Kits!! Fact!!
Obama/Biden 08!!
This whole race would be funny if there wasn’t a real possiblity that this former beauty pageant contestant could actually wind up ruling our country. Her biggest claim to fame is that she can see Russia from her house. A few weeks ago, nobody even knew who she was. Now she’s ready to take on the second hardest job in America? Maybe even in the world? Loving the hypocricy here.
Wish the Palin-ites would shut up though. Palin’s being handled with kid gloves from all sides (the Republicans, the “moral” Evangelical Christians, the media, even the Democrats have to watch what they say) yet at the first sign of injustice, everyone yells “sexist”. Women’s rights are all about being treated as men’s equals. Which means Hilary, McCain, Obama AND Palin should all be recieving the same amount of criticism, despite their gender.
ALL THE WAY TO VICTORY, OBAMA!
A beauty pageant runner-up who cannot complete a sentence and only commands a mediocre grasp of the English language.
Where is the video in church where she’s having witches or something cast out or she’s being exorcised?
McCain is an absolute loose cannon and, yes, in his particular case is too old and inconsistent to briefly lead this nation before falling ill to a more cancer recurrence and having his job land in this woman’s lap.
Wake-up, America, before it’s too late!
Obama-Biden ‘08!!!!
Hillary Rodham Clinton for Supreme Court Justice (after her term as Senator of New York expires) via Obama-Biden ‘08!!!!!
not on her SIDE…TEAM OBAMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA =]
shes ridiculous.
There millions of teenage mothers in this country. Obviously sex education and condoms don’t work.
_______________________________________________________
What a ridiculous thing to say. Of course they work, they work for millions of women around the world. Those that do get pregnant either have unprotected sex or forget to or do not understand how to properly and responsibly use contraception.
DO you suggest an abstinence only approach than? A lot of good that did Sarah’s daughter.
The VP debates will be hilarious. Sarah’s gonna talk about shooting moose and how visiting Canada and Mexico and just getting her passport as of this year makes her competent to handle world affairs.
Why would Jared post a video of Vice Presidential candidate when the video is 24 years old, I don’t see you posting video of Joe Biden and there are tons of them from his failed Presidential run in 1988 when he dropped out because he plagiarized a British politicians speech or video of him back then were you can see the top of his head was completely without hair and it is obvious that he has hair plugs and a has had a face lift, there are tons of funny and stupid video on UTube of Biden being a as#hole and screaming at people, what is it a gay blog conspiracy , all gay’s who have a celebrity gossip site have to go after Sara Palin is that how you guys think it will help Obama to win , sorry just the opposite will happen.

So Angela are you suggesting that because one is black or non white in America, and one has a college education it automatically is to be assumed that it was gotten via “your” tax dollar? Sorry to disappoint your obviously racists mindset, but I’ve never been given two red cents to rub together because of being not only black, female and latina, and guess what? I’m not alone in that.
Obama used loans (which have been paid off in full), part-time employment in the summer while an undergrad, and help from his grandparents just like poor put upon hardworking white americans do surprise surprise.
Anytime you’re ready to seek before you speak, feel free to do a little research so your ass won’t get handed to you. I won’t provide one link to help you to that end because we wouldn’t want you to appear to be taking a handout now would we.

wtf is wrong with her face? im so tired of her!
this woman is disgusting. any woman is who puts her work and ambitions before her own family. she claims trig to be HER baby then shouldn’t she be busy taking care of him? or looking after her pregnant daughter?
and for all of you guys saying she has experience. really? well funny because even her fellow republicans thinks otherwise.
“McCain people are more than concerned about Palin.
The campaign has held a mock debate and a mock press conference; both are being described as “disastrous.” One senior McCain aide was quoted as saying, “What are we going to do?” The McCain people want to move this first debate to some later, undetermined date, possibly never. People on the inside are saying the Alaska Governor is “clueless.”
You guys should watch her interview with Katie Couric. What an embarrassment! Even the conservative commentator Kathleen Parker, who was an early supporter of Sarah Palin, now states she is way out of her league.
here’s the full article:
Palin should step down, conservative commentator says
Posted: 03:27 PM ET
From CNN Ticker Producer Alexander Mooney
(CNN) – Prominent conservative columnist Kathleen Parker, an early supporter of Republican VP candidate Sarah Palin, said Friday recent interviews have shown the Alaska governor is “out of her league” and should leave the GOP presidential ticket for the good of the party.
The criticism in Parker’s Friday column is the latest in a recent string of negative assessments toward the McCain-Palin candidacy from prominent conservatives.
It was fun while it lasted,” Parker writes. “Palin’s recent interviews with Charles Gibson, Sean Hannity, and now Katie Couric have all revealed an attractive, earnest, confident candidate. Who is clearly out of her league.”
Palin’s interview with Couric drew criticism when the Alaska governor was unable to provide an example of when John McCain had pushed for more regulation of Wall Street during his Senate career. Palin also took heat for defending her foreign policy credentials by suggesting Russian leaders enter Alaska airspace when they come to America. Palin was also criticized last week for appearing not to know what the Bush Doctrine is during an interview with Charlie Gibson.
“If BS were currency, Palin could bail out Wall Street herself,” Parker also writes. “If Palin were a man, we’d all be guffawing, just as we do every time Joe Biden tickles the back of his throat with his toes. But because she’s a woman — and the first ever on a Republican presidential ticket — we are reluctant to say what is painfully true.”
Parker, who praised McCain’s “keen judgment” for picking Palin earlier this month and wrote the Alaska governor is a “perfect storm of God, Mom and apple pie,” now says Palin should step down from the ticket.
“Only Palin can save McCain, her party, and the country she loves,” Parker writes. She can bow out for personal reasons, perhaps because she wants to spend more time with her newborn. No one would criticize a mother who puts her family first. Do it for your country.”
Parker’s comments follow those by prominent conservatives David Brooks, George Will, and David Frum who have all publicly questioned Palin’s readiness to be vice president.
“Sarah Palin has many virtues,” Brooks wrote in a recent column. “If you wanted someone to destroy a corrupt establishment, she’d be your woman. But the constructive act of governance is another matter. She has not been engaged in national issues, does not have a repertoire of historic patterns and, like President Bush, she seems to compensate for her lack of experience with brashness and excessive decisiveness.”
It’s refreshing to have a potential VP who is “one of the people” - i firmly believe that Mz Palin has her fingers on the pulse of middle class working families; i also believe she will be empathetic with the costs of raising a family, of managing an economy to encourage employment for the people, of keeping our citizens safe and secure within the Inalienable rights as guaranteed by our Constitution. Nope, she and John McCain are Servants OF The People, For The People, not self serving wanna-be’s who wish to gain power and adoration without earning it. My son used to say, “When i grow up to be president”…well i think Barak Houssin Obama grew up saying, “When i am president of the U.S. i will be in total power to make MY people supreme”…yup, just like Michelle wrote in her college paper, “If i ever come into a position of power in this country, i will use it wholly to advance MY people to supremacy in this nation”….geeze…they just want to lead a bunch of barbie dolls who have empty heads…..God Bless America…..she sure needs His help
I’m sure they can all see from Russia from their house.
Anyone who falls for the Who’s Who vanity book is too stupid to be President. They will put anyone’s name in the book who pays $249 for bragging rights/
NO leadership role in government local, state or federal
NO leadership in business
NO leadership in the military
NO organizations he founded or managed.
NO law firm partnerships.
NO important cases tried as a lawyer
NO work of legal scholarship has ever been published
Obama’s record is pathetically thin and that’s why he doesn’t talk about it much.
He never talks about his time with Rev. Wright anymore, or his connection with Tony Rezko.
In fact he has lied to the American public about his relationship with William Ayers saying he’s just someone who lives in my neighborhood.
When in fact the relationship is much closer and deeper than that. They both are connected to the Chicago Anneberg education challenge that was basically spending money on children to indoctrinate them with left wing 60’s radicalism…..to the tune of 46 million dollars.
In other words, screw math and science they pushed angry ideology onto students. Yeah that’ll keep us competitive in the global economy Obama…..NOT!
Plus Obama never brings up his community organizing creds with ACORN, an organization rife with problems of embezzlement, voter fraud and pushing again (surprise…NOT) left wing, extremely radical agendas into urban communties.
Obama and the Democrats are trying….right now as we speak…..to funnel 20% of any profit that the government retrieves in this 700 billion bailout to ACORN…this is just despicable!!!
You can chide Sarah for silly crap like being in a beauty contests and calling her stupid.
But it will be you celebrity loving airheads……that are to blame if this man becomes president and drives more business overseas with his corporate tax hikes, and his shamelss class warfare rhetoric and his “vote for me so othe countries will like us again” mantra.
The thing he cares about most is that people around the world like us.
His silly “We Are the World” diplomacy sounds like every other low level UN diplomat’s motto and not the leader of the free world.
This guy is joke and should not only not be POTUS but shouldn’t be in the senate……voting against funding the troops…..so terrible.
Politics is a dirty game. Don’t expect Palin to be treated any differently just because she’s a women; that is sexist. If she want’s to be vice-pres. or even pres. she’ll need to be stronger than she’s shown us.
As for the remarks about the economic crisis in the US, this is not contained to just our country. The Europe, Canada, Austrailia, HongKong… have all had record high realestate bubbles, and have already peaked.
Plus the oil peak will have global affect, especially in 1st world countries.
“That’s why in Wasilla, Alaska where she’s currently Mayor, she’s making RAPE VICTIMS pay for their Rape Kits!! Fact!!
First get your facts right. She isn’t currently the mayor of Wasilla. She’s the governor of Alaska.
Second, this has been debunked. The bill to ban the rape kits practice in 2000 that came to the legislation (six times!) Wasilla was not mention once in the hearing records….not once!
You wanna know why……..because there has been no record of anyone ever being charged for a rape kit in Wasilla.
In the legislation one victim from Juneau is on record for being charged and it was Juneau.
BTW, rape kits weren’t being charged by police department (what Sarah governed) but private hospitals, which she has no jurisidiction over.

LOL first you say, “… I have not heard anything about the inexperience of Obama who is running for the presidencey of a super power nation.” then you say “Even his running mate Joe Biden commented on how inexperienced Obama is.”
I doubt you know anything about the attacks on Georgia!
STICK TO GOSSIPING ABOUT THE JONAS BROTHERS/
Since Russia’s invasion of Georgia was broght up, I think it’s important to note that our reactions towards Russia is the same as the Muslim’s world reaction towards us as we invaded their countries over the years. They do not see us as liberators but rather agressors.
#61 “The thing he cares about most is that people around the world like us.

We cannot continue to think that the world’s view of us is not important and won’t affect us. We need someone who others see as a leader of the FREE WORLD, not a just military power.
Jesus Patty, your such a racist idiot. Try learning to spell you welfare bum.
yeah i’d rather have that for my president rather then someone that’s focused only on their skin color. it’s funny hearing the obama ads saying that people shouldn’t vote based on their sex (ie, those voting for palin just because she’s a woman) yet it’s acceptable for blacks to vote for obama and also it was fine for women to vote for hillary. Go Mccain Palin
Calacus
You are so ignorant that if somebody brought up something that you have not thought about you attack them personally, There is no comparison between McCain and Obama. Obama is only the creation of Oprah Winfrey. And Oprah Winfrey only supported him because she thinks that he is the only black politician that is better than Jessie Jackson and Sharpton. Think about it, Oprah is supposed tobe thesupporter and champion of women. Why is it that she did not support Hillary but she supported Obama. Hillary is more qualified than Obama. I wonder if Obama becomes the President he and Oprah might give all the money to Africa.
Eddie Jones, your the only one bringing race or sex into this discussion.
If we want to talk about ‘token’ tickets, how about addressing the fact that McCain picked Palin ONLY because she was a ultra conservative psycho who is a woman. The vetting process took only 2 hours and they’ve only met twice before. What a dangerous sand irresponsible decision by McCain. He is using her to sway the base and he hoped to pick up those voting for Clinton. Well, that’s not happening obviously, but there are some dumb people who will vote for a candidate because they happen to have a certain skin colour or because of their gender.
This trash is a disgrace. I’m so embarrassed by her and McCain.
Halli,
I was responding to the below statement:
Additionally, she is against sex education and condoms, Ahem, no wonder her high school daughter is also pregnant before marriage.</i?
Is there a word ‘women’ in it?
Nothing works for the entire population hence no one method is to dominate others. America is about freedom. Every one has the right to choose every thing.
Sex education does not work on all teenagers. If anything it makes them more curious. I grew up in society that practiced abstinence and it didn’t help all but most. However we did not have Hollywood churning out pornographic movies and shows on a regular basis.
Condom don’t protect girls/women from pregnancy since they can’t force the boys/men they have sex with to wear it.
All in all there isn’t one singular solution to one social problem. And most importantly, this is one country where choices are rights, even the conservative or old fashioned ones.
It’s so sad how this election has brought to light the racist people in the USA. they would rather vote for a condescending old man and a dumb as dirt lady knowing she is really not really down with ladies. It’s just sad that we as a nation have not grown since the old good ole boy days.
Exactly who is qualified to negotiate with the Russians right? What an insult to women! Against abortion in cases of rape an incest huh Sarah and you want women to pay for their own rape kits: what a creep you are. How can you call yourself a woman. Disgusting!
Palin hate women. She is such a clown. McCain should have pick some one else so he lack good judgment.
PALIN IS ONE SCARY WOMAN! SEE BELOW:
Wasilla Watch: Sarah Palin and the Rape Kits
By DOROTHY SAMUELS
Published: September 25, 2008
Even in tough budget times, there are lines that cannot be crossed. So I was startled by this tidbit reported recently by The Associated Press: When Sarah Palin was mayor of Wasilla, Alaska, the small town began billing sexual-assault victims for the cost of rape kits and forensic exams…….
http://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/26/opinion/26fri4.html?ref=opinionhttp://www.nytimes.com/2008/09/26/opinion/26fri4.html?ref=opinion
Team Lara Croft,
Your first mistake was to take anything written in the NYT at face value. It’s no longer a reputable newspaper of facts. It’s now an advertising arm of the Obama campaign.
And it seems quite evident their mission is also to keep American’s dumb to confirmed facts that can be proven in a court of law.
The truth is here:
But, in reality, none of these charges can be found and Jim Geraghty of NRO has done a little investigative work to prove it.
Geraghty looked to see how often Wasilla and Palin were mentioned in the debates about the rape kit bill. But he finds that there is not one mention of the town of Wasilla in the hearings over the bill. Far from being the mayor that had “complaints about her administration’s policy” (as the Chi Trib says) being the one forcing the state legislature to pass the law, Wasilla is not mentioned at all in the debates about the bill.
The Democratic sponsor of the legislation, Eric Croft, told USA Today recently that “the law was aimed in part at Wasilla, where now-Gov. Sarah Palin was mayor.” Yet in six committee meetings, Wasilla was never mentioned, even when the discussion turned to the specific topic of where victims were being charged.
Geraghty also could not find a single instance of a rape victim ever having been charged for her own rape kit.
To clarify: In preparation to attend a hearing and support the bill, one of the state’s top law-enforcement officials found no case of a rape victim ever being charged. And roughly a month after 30 Democratic lawyers, investigators, and opposition researchers, not to mention reporters from every major news agency in the country, landed in Alaska, we still have no instances to consider.
Additionally, Geraghty found that it was the hospitals in Alaska, not the police agencies, that were passing the bills on to the victims’ insurance companies. And the idea that only Wasilla had such a policy is blasted out of the water by Geraghty who notes that Juneau also had the same policy of charging rape victims for their rape kits.
In fact, at a Finance Committee hearing, Representative Gail Phillips (R., Homer) “read for the record, a statement from a woman in Juneau who had experienced the charges as indicated.” Compare Juneau (population 30,711 in 2000) to Wasilla (population 5,469).
On top of all of that, there are no stories prior to Sarah Palin being offered the billet as VP by John McCain that makes the claim that Palin was informed of or involved in this policy of charging rape victims for rape kits. And, since there was only one rape reported in the city between 1996 and 2000 when the story first came to the papers, it’s no wonder she wasn’t aware of the policy. When would it ever have come up? Does anyone think that any given mayor of any American town is fully cognizant of every single policy or law in their city, especially if it is a law not in use because of a lack of situations to bring it to light?
For her part, Palin spokeswoman Maria Comella has said that the governor “does not believe, nor has she ever believed, that rape victims should have to pay for an evidence-gathering test.”
In the end, it seems that this story is a wild exaggeration about Palin’s role in this policy.
Sarah Palin on Abortion Rights:
GIBSON: In the time I have left, I want to talk about some social issues.
PALIN: OK.
GIBSON: Roe v. Wade, do you think it should be reversed?
PALIN: I think it should and I think that states should be able to decide that issue… I am pro-life. I do respect other people’s opinion on this, also, and I think that a culture of life is best for America… What I want to do, when elected vice president, with John McCain, hopefully, be able to reach out and work with those who are on the other side of this issue, because I know that we can all agree on the need for and the desire for fewer abortions in America and greater support for adoption, for other alternatives that women can and should be empowered to embrace, to allow that culture of life. That’s my personal opinion on this, Charlie.
GIBSON: John McCain would allow abortion in cases of rape and incest. Do you believe in it only in the case where the life of the mother is in danger?
PALIN: That is my personal opinion.

GIBSON: Would you change and accept it in rape and incest?
PALIN: My personal opinion is that abortion allowed if the life of the mother is endangered. Please understand me on this. I do understand McCain’s position on this. I do understand others who are very passionate about this issue who have a differing.
Palin’s Wasilla To Rape Victims: Bring Your Checkbook

Hat tip to AmericaBlog for this one.
In 2000, then-Governor Tony Knowles signed a bill in Alaska that ensured law enforcement around the state would pay for the processing of “Rape Kits” - forensics evidence collected in rape cases. Seemed common sense enough. Knowles noted, correctly, that we don’t charge robbery victims the cost of dusting for prints, so why would be charge rape victims the cost of gathering evidence to apprehend their assailant?
Except one little town objected, and had previously refused to foot the bill to solve rape cases - Wasilla, under Mayor Sarah Palin.
Reported the local paper, The Frontiersman, at the time:
While the Alaska State Troopers and most municipal police agencies have covered the cost of exams, which cost between $300 to $1,200 apiece, the Wasilla police department does charge the victims of sexual assault for the tests.
Now, look, maybe this was long-standing policy, instituted far before Palin took office in Wasilla. Maybe she had been appointing people who would overturn this policy. Uh, no. After taking office, Palin fired the police chief, Irl Stambaugh (which made her a subject of a recall effort) and replaced him with Charlie Fannon. Fannon’s view of paying to solve rape cases?
Wasilla Police Chief Charlie Fannon does not agree with the new legislation, saying the law will require the city and communities to come up with more funds to cover the costs of the forensic exams.
So, for four years - from 1996, when Palin took office to 2000 when this law was passed - Palin didn’t seem to have a problem with charging rape victims to solve their own crime. And if she did, she certainly didn’t communicate that to her hand-picked Police Chief, who didn’t have a problem with it.
I guess that’s one way to be a “Maverick.”
Of course, I’d be willing to say that Palin was just a part-time Mayor with very little oversight or responsibility, and it’s unfair to say she could do something about it.
But, as Palin has made clear, being Mayor was “kiiiiiind of like being a community organizer, except you have actual responsibility.” And, of course, John McCain and his campaign have made clear that as Mayor, Palin had a ton of responsibility and decision-making pressure, which is why she’s ready to assume the Presidency from Day One.
As much as this seems like a post about Sarah Palin, it’s really not. It’s about John McCain. What I want to know is at what point in the vetting process, after going through Mayoral records, did the McCain campaign learn that Palin condoned the charging of rape victims the cost of processing rape kits? And after they found out, before he selected her, did he discuss the matter in the extensive discussions he had with Palin about her record and her views?
Oh wait, that’s right he didn’t do any of this, because he made his decision after a short phone call. And now he has, on his ticket, someone who didn’t seem to think that charging rape victims for forensics processing in their rape cases was all that big of a problem. Or, at least it wasn’t a big enough problem to use her “responsibility” to change the policy.
One heartbeat away from being President.

Hope if you ever had a daughter she does not get raped or becomes a pregnant victim of incest under Palin’s watch because if your daughter did, Palin would be against your daughter getting an abortion in these cases. On another note, I leave you with the wisdom (yeah right) that is Sarah Palin - God this woman is a joke!!!! Ok, here goes:
COURIC: You’ve cited Alaska’s proximity to Russia as part of your foreign policy experience. What did you mean by that?
PALIN: That Alaska has a very narrow maritime border between a foreign country, Russia, and on our other side, the land– boundary that we have with– Canada. It– it’s funny that a comment like that was– kind of made to– cari– I don’t know, you know? Reporters–
COURIC: Mock?
PALIN: Yeah, mocked, I guess that’s the word, yeah.
COURIC: Explain to me why that enhances your foreign policy credentials.
PALIN: Well, it certainly does because our– our next door neighbors are foreign countries. They’re in the state that I am the executive of. And there in Russia–
COURIC: Have you ever been involved with any negotiations, for example, with the Russians?
PALIN: We have trade missions back and forth. We– we do– it’s very important when you consider even national security issues with Russia as Putin rears his head and comes into the air space of the United States of America, where– where do they go? It’s Alaska. It’s just right over the border. It is– from Alaska that we send those out to make sure that an eye is being kept on this very powerful nation, Russia, because they are right there. They are right next to– to our state.
Team Lara Croft,
Your posting a Sept 9th story to prove a more current knowledge of the facts is really quite sad.
The fact is no rape kits were ever charged in Wasilla. And the Democrat (who is supporting Obama) that wrote the bill to ban the rape kits now all of sudden claims (eight years later) that Wasilla was a major factor in him writing the bill.
Funny thing is that Wasilla is not mentioned ONCE in the transcripts.
Now Team Lara Croft, you can believe political motivated asseretions all you want but do not kid yourself……they’re not facts.
BTW, I’m a pro-choice woman and I feel very comfortable having a pro-life woman like Sarah Palin as VP. There is no history that I have found of her inserting her religious beliefs into government.
“God this woman is a joke!!!! ”
Do you want to know what’s a joke Team Lara Croft.
It’s the MSM reporters and Obama lawyers that are keeping information about Obama’s Chicago political dealings from the American people.
Since no one knows how anyone will deal with things in the future, all you can do is judge their past.
Well let’s look at Obama’s past and his only one experience with executive power.
Obama, along with William Ayers 60’s radical terrorist who bombed the Pentagon and would do it again if given the chance, he and Obama started an education program called the Chicago Anneberg Challenge to the tune of 48 million dollars.
• Did it improve the student’s math skills: NO
• Did it improve the student’s reading skills: NO
• Did it improve the student’s writing skills: NO
From Wikipedia:
The project appears to have failed to achieve any of its stated, measurable educational goals. For example, a comprehensive study by the Consortium on Chicago School Research concludes:
“Results suggest that among the schools it supported, the Challenge had little impact on school improvement and student outcomes, with no statistically significant differences between Annenberg and non-Annenberg schools in rates of achievement gain, classroom behavior, student self-efficacy, and social competence.”[5]
The main directive of the challenge seems to be:
• Have students pledge the allegiance, not to the American flag, but to the world flag
• Indoctrinate students with the notion that America is imperialistic and mean and is basically the reason for all the evil in the world.
Now you better hope that Obama doesn’t become president because if he gets his hands on the federal education system and installs his and William Ayers (his buddy) ideas/philosophies about education like they did in Chicago, then American children will have a very, very sad future.
Team Lara Croft is full of it. All she has is talking points and her “facts” have been proven false.
Case closed. Sheryl wins.
