Paul Newman Dead at 83
Legendary actor Paul Newman passed away last night at the age of 83 at his home in Westport, Connecticut.
A former chain smoker, Newman had been diagnosed with lung cancer in June of this year and ultimately died of it.
He appeared in over 60 movies including: Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Hustler, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and The Sting. Nominated nine times for an Oscar, he won best actor for the 1986 film, The Color of Money.
Also known as the founder of Newman’s Own food company, his daugher Nell will most likely take over. Profits and royalties from the company are donated to charity and have exceeded $220 million as of last year.
Our thoughts and prayers are with Paul’s family and friends.

Not only do I praise his acting, but I praise his humanitarian work. He wasn’t as ‘public’ with his work as someone like Angelina Jolie, because he felt that he didn’t need to collide it with his acting.
RIP.
Rest in peace, Paul. He was one of our last great stars from the golden era of films. It’s always sad to see the great one go.
Im not shocked, because throughout the year i heard he was very ill, still when i heard the news im taken aback because he was one of my favorite actors.
He could be easy going and cool,to stern and fatherly. He had a great live in the moment lust for life that i will always greatly admire. Some of my favorite Newman films:
Cat on a Hot Tin Roof
The Long, Hot Summer
The Hustler
Cool Hand Luke
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
The Towering Inferno

Oh I feel so sad. loved him as an actor and all around person. My heart goes out to his family, especially his wife, how sad to lose your 50 year partner, if we all feel sad, imagine how she must feel.
A true legend has passed. RIP
RIP Paul Newman, a great Actor and Humanitarian.
JARED,
I know you would rather post cellulite pics of Kim Kardashian OR yet another Katie Holmes pic walking in NYC but, why not honor Paul Newman one of the sexiest actors ever in the United States. Instead you put up a very unflattering pic of him from his last years. Let some of the younger posters see what Paul was like in his prime…
I forgot to add in my post, I cant pick a favorite he was great in them, espically in Cool hand Luke, can anyone top his record of eating 50 hardboiled eggs? I sure cant. And he was HOT in Cat on a Hot Tin Roof……but, does anyone remember the movie “Shane”….he was a half-breed Indian and it was a great movie also.
BTW, I agree with several posts JJ, this gentleman was not only a great actor, but a humanitaerian(sp) and a compassionate soul who also had a loving wife………the TRUE HOLLYWOOD MAN!!!!!!!! and the bad thing about it is……we are loosing them if not already have lost them….Paul, Charlton (Heston), Burt (Lancaster), Robert (Mitchum), and the “Duke” himself, (John Wayne). To name a few.
If any actor now had any clout these gentlemen did…..maybe it would still be Hollywood and not “Hollyweird”….. Thank the good Lord himself he has a special place for these guys……because that is exactly what they are and always will be.
Prayers to your family Paul…..and know you can rest peacefully because there are still those who will always love and remember ya..then..now and forever….
Paul neman was the starof all time God Bless
RIP. Another faded legendary.
I am deeply saddened…Joanne and Paul are one of a kind…a real team and I just feel that we lost an icon - I agree with the person who said “worst year ever.” Jared were you even aware of him? Your post is not even close to the dedication it needs to be….A class act, humanitarian and wonderful husband and father.
“Former chain smoker” That is real nice Jared. I guess when Marlon Brando died you thought…”Hmmm he ate way too much” We all have done not so healthy things in our lives Jared. Show respect…
RIP…
I will never forget a scene from “From the Terrace” in which he starred with Joanne Woodward where the camera focuses closely on his gorgeous blue eyes. OMG!
Paul Newman will be missed.
He and his wife gave away hundreds of MILLIONS of dollars recently to charity. We always knew he was a very very good man. Its so sad to see someone with such a good heart go. I love his acting and its a sad day for many people I think.
RIP

Errr… your plea to put up a sexy beast pic of Paul Newman versus using a recent pic of him seems very superficial and it’s a disservice to the memory of the man. Paul Newman was not one of those actors who made a break to Europe for a life of seclusion just because he was afraid his public couldn’t handle his aging. The evidence of that was the fact that he continued to work into his 80s.
Paul Newman isn’t an example because he was a stunningly good-looking man in his youth, middle age and old age; he was a brilliant actor and a multifaceted human being. Paul Newman deserved better than what he got in these few months. He deserved the chance to deal with his illness privately, without the National Enquirer disclosing his condition and synchronizing their watches to the exact time he could or would succumb to it.
This would have been a nice photo to use in this post:

I was hoping the rumors about his health were just that…rumors. I’m so saddened to hear it was true and that he has lost his battle against cancer.
He was a wonderful actor and a wonderful human being. The best one can hope for is to have lived life as fully as possible. And from what I can see Paul Newman did exactly that.
My condolences to his family.
RIP
So very sad to hear this. RIP Paul Newman. He was a screen legend no doubt after it and will be greatly miss. My thoughts and prayers goies out to his family and friends.
Paul Newman was a great actor and humanitarian. Just leave your condolences and stop using this as a place to slam other celebrities. Before thinking he was so different you need to do some research. Mr. Newman lived his most famous times w/o blogs/internet exploiting his every move and making up lies about him.
He was fortunate, lived a full-life and he did advertise his charities to encourage others to give. He faced tragedy but he also understood the life he had and wanted to share his good fortune w/ others. He was also politically active and engaged in the civil rights movement w/ his face out front and not hiding.
Pray for his wife of 50 years and family during this time and stop wishing ill on others.
I’am so sad about this.He was a beautiful and humble man and a
great actor. My favorite movie of his was “The Long Hot Summer” with
his beautiful Joanne. He did so much good,to help so many people.
He was such a class act in Hollywood. There is not too many around
like this man. My thoughts and prayers go out to his beloved Joanne
and their family.
Rest in peace, Mr. Newman. You will be missed. My condolences to his family.
