hahah actually funny
if i was old enough i would!
maniston ruins everything. this b*tch is a DOG
Aniston still touching her hair even in 3 sec. showtime. What’s wrong with her?
Aniston in the only one who touch her hair, aven the other lady with her hair in her face don’t touch them. And she “surjoue” , she played her role too much with her eyes and lips and everything else like she did in Friends but she ’s not the only one to do that in this PSA, Halle Berry too with his hand.
This is GENIUS!!!!
i really HOPE people DO VOTE!!!!!!
I think the video is good, however, let’s be honest here… if you actually talked to any single one of those celebrities - with the exception of 1 or 2 - and if you said, “I’m voting for McCain” (which I would) … I can almost promise you that they will all say, “Don’t vote!” and mean it. So the message is pointless and stupid if you like McCain. Every single one of those celebrities want Obama. I don’t know about a few of them but a huge handful is for Obama.
Ridiculous. My favorite actors aren’t in that stupid list.
Jonah Hill … lol hes so funny! I like it.
You should ask yourself why these celebs make this kind of adv. Be honest, are there many people in your countries who actually care about the election at all? Do they really listen to what the politician say, or do they simply follow what hype is?
All this media stuff scares the hell out of me. It is just like what “1984″ described. We are being made dumb and stupid and follow whatever which comes. As long as it is in the media, there will always be people who believe in.
We live in a celebrity-obsessed world. That’s one of the reason why they think they need to tell us to vote or not to vote.
I love Laura Linney! She is great. And naturally, Jen.
And Djimon Hounsou gave me shiver down my spine. His voice is incredible!
Er, Maria Bello IS NOT in that video
I am so ******* sick of celebrities and these ******* PSAs allll theee timeee. I don’t need some rich ******* telling me what to do with myself, my money, what charity to support, blah.blah.blah. Get out of my lives and off my TV you bunch of pretentious dicks.
Wow! Great PSA, wish in the country I lived they did more of this. Getting your voice heard, that is the point.
rien,
We live in a celebrity-obsessed world.
Speaking with first hand knowledge. So true!
That’s one of the reason why they think they need to tell us to vote or not to vote.
I like to change the bold word to can and strike out the word “to” before “tell”. With money and fame these people elevate themselves too highly and think they can (borrowing Orchid’s word) patronize people into doing something. What arrogance! They need to go back to government class and learn which type of vote actually elect President. But they are not entirely to blame for their arrogance; their society is.
Comment #41: You/Me @ 10/01/2008 at 2:30 pm
For the record I want to say that it made me what to puke, I couldn’t even get through the while video. Stupid condescending celebrities. I get that they want to “rock the vote” but to look America in the eye (so to speak) and speak as if they are talking to a two year old is…..
——-
Exactly what I said! They’re patronizing! Who do they think they’re talking to!
So many people should not really be allowed to vote, because they haven’t got a clue about anything. Many wil probably be picked up and bussed to the voting places, and all they have to do is vote for a certain someone. They’ve probably been promised that the day after voting for this certain someone, life will get rosy! Poor sods! They sure haven’t read the papers that he won’t be able to keep his fancy promises. Oops, it just occurred to me that some of these people probably can’t even read and write! So many vote with their emotions.
I’m voting for so-and-so because “he is one of us!” The plump one on “The View” (Sheri or Sherri) said that she will vote for BO because
“he looks like me!”
*************************
I just shuddered when I read your comment. A lot of people “vote with their emotions.” What else do they have? Even when knowing the canidates, knowing what each stands for, the problems facing the country, you still are not know for sure who will do the job they said they will do. So you end up voting with your gut, “your emotions”. Second, EVERYONE who is American, and at the voting age can vote! If someone is illiterate or cannot write, it does not mean that they don’t know how to think! Maybe the comment from Sherri seemed inappropriate to you but also maybe it had more to do with the fact that she related to him more because she felt he was more like her and could relate to issues that she had.
Pretty stupid. And they focus on more liberal points. Funny how a Pubic Service Announcement could be biased…oh wait…it’s always been that way.
The only good part: “I have like 19 kids, never used abortion once.”
I see nothing wrong with Orchid’s statement. Politic is not an emotional game. Emotional people don’t make good politicians. And ideally we should not vote because he/she looks like me or by voting for him/her we’ll have our kind in power, so on and so on.
I do understand reality in which ordinary folks, more than half of them are too encumbered by surviving to truly educate themselves about politic and other “educated” subjects, live is far from ideal.
It is true that people vote with their emotions and I am not counting successful politicians as the people we are talking about here. Because of our tendency to gravitate toward what appeals to our emotions, namely emotions that satisfy us, political campaigns and marketing campaigns are tailored to give us a sense that we will be happy with their products (candidate in this case) and that by choosing their products (vote the candidate) we are in control of our lives. But are we really in control when we expect government or somebody else to give us a sense of security and blame it or them when we fall into miseries after making poor decisions regarding their livelihood? These are the kind of people who are easily swayed or influenced for they want control but afraid of the accountability and responsibility of making the wrong decision.
Any one who thinks, by merely listening to politicians’ speeches/advertisements, that those politicians can relate to her/his issues is naive. Yet, naive as he/she is, he/she is entitled to vote, by emotions, or not, and to voice their opinions. And by the same token, people, like Orchid and I, who think voting by emotions is foolish, are entitled to our opinions and vote to whom we see fit. This is the beauty of true freedom of expression and belief.
We shudder at the thought
cont,
We shudder at the thought that emotional people can vote an unqualified person into the position of President of a super power country too.
This Orchid is the worst example of a Republican, she is racist
always has been, narrow minded, super stupid with tunnel vision.
chick has no respect for others or their opions.
Your post not only shows what a bigot you are, but also the small
outlook you have on people you think are beneath you.
IMO you with all your self acclaim intelligents, is no more than
what one scrapes off their shoe after a stroll in a cow patch.
Get ready for a meltdown, it’s coming.
The main reason that celebrities voice their opinions about your failing system is that they usually have had the opportunity to travel to various parts of the world and see how change and different opinions work to help other countries… unlike the majority of the US population that lives their entire life in their home county.
It’s through frustration of US ignorance and stubborness that they feel they need to speak up. Much like that kid that goes away to college and realizes grampa is an old raciest **** who doesn’t know what the internet is.
Is it wrong that the only thing I got from this was that I wanted to see a “Friends” movie? Courteney Cox-Arquette, I miss you. :(
#68 How is Orchid a racist? Simply because she doesn’t think Obama qualified to be a President? What a laugh! How typical of Obama’s supporters to use the race card. I’m not white and I don’t support Obama. I am a woman and don’t support Hilary.
The melt down is going to happen regardless and the blame lay with the Americans which include all, not just the government officials. I like to know what you’ll say when Obama becomes President and the melt down still happens. I bet you’ll blame the Republicans and Bush still, not the Democrats and Obama.
#69, Please spare us Americans your opinions on other countries of the world. The world is full of corrupted governments, struggling countries. No one system is better than another. And celebrities travel for pleasure mostly, not to learn about culture and politic. Are you dreaming? Travel does not a smart person make, and smartness comes in many forms that no one human being can posses all. Show me evidence that Aniston, Berry, Hoffman, et al studying culture and politic while they traveled and show me proof that they are smart enough to tell me what to do. Or else, please save your speech for yourself.
And lest you forget, Americans comprise of people coming from almost all countries around the world and many of us were born in those countries, grew up there and experienced, studied ways of life and politic there. If we can come here and learn English and make a life here we certainly don’t need arrogant celebrities who haven’t lived through war, starvation and all miseries life could hurl at them to tell us what to do. Cocktail waitress-ing while waiting for a break in Hollywood to come is nothing in comparing to more than half of the world have been going through. Before you insult Americans as not traveling outside their country therefore are ignorant, cure your ignorance first by remembering that the US has 52 states with each state the size of or larger than most countries in the world. Their ignorance in some arena is as not annoying as your ignorance in your thinking you can call them–the people who invented the internet that is your mark of intelligence et al–ignoramus.
By the way, I hate kids who degrades their parents or grandparents as ignoramus. What an ingrate you kids are! Without them you aren’t even a sperm.
71 voe… your lunch break is over. Go back to school.
