OlderRobert Downey Jr. Talks Sherlock Holmes
Robert Downey Jr., who plays the title character in the upcoming feature film Sherlock Holmes, joins costar Rachel McAdams for the film’s pre-production press conference at Freemasons Hall on Wednesday in London.
“I think me and [director Guy Ritchie] are well-suited to working together,” RDJ said. “The more I look into the books, the more fantastic it becomes. Holmes is such a weirdo,”
Also present: British actress Kelly Reilly and costar Mark Strong. McAdams will play Sherlock’s love interest Irene Adler, Mark Strong will play the part of villain Blackwood, Jude Law (not pictured) will play super sleuth sidekick Dr. Watson and Reilly will be Watson’s love interest Mary.
This movie has all the right elements to be a box office hit. Let’s hope they do this mystery drama right!

Yeah, I don’t know what Guy Ritchie as director will mean. I’m pretty sure his last three or four films have flopped.
I hope Ritchie doesn’t go for style over substance.
Never heard of Kelly Reilly but looks like a good cast. I love RDJ and hope it turns out really well. I’ll be seeing it for sure!
Looks really interesting this movie. And perfect opportunity for Rachel to showcase her talent. However Guy Ritchie does worry me, I wonder if the all star cast can make this a hit, despite the curse of Ritchie
downey and law….what a great and unusual pairing. with ritchie’s selection of his 6 major players. he just might be on to something wonderful and yes to see jude in action again makes my heart beat a little bit faster.
I hope they won’t include SLUTTIEYIEENA MILLER ON THIS MOVIE.

kelly reilly is jude law’s love interest in sherlock holmes. she’s a fantastic actress with quite a resume.so……sienna is not in the picture.

i get they these people are good actors but why not use actual british people who already have the accents and know more about the story and culture back then….i don’t understand that.
I’m not too sure about Guy Ritchie directing this, but he’s got a great cast.

I agree with the above posters about a romance. I predict a romance for Jude with either Kelly or Rachel.

Rachel and Ryan are still together, aren’t they? If so, I doubt her and Jude will get together.
Rachel and Ryan don’t seem like a very stable couple to me. Plus, once she’s working around Jude Law, who knows what might happen. Jude is overdue for real romance in his life. Enough of the one night stands and friends with benifits! It’s time for a litte emotions with the sex!
‘No’ to Rachel and Jude. Real love ain’t always found on set, either. rachel belongs with Ryan.

I’m already turned off of this movie. Sherlock Holmes doesn’t **have** a love interest - he doesn’t get women at all, and prefers to avoid them. Dr Watson has a love interest, and gets married very early in the story.
I bet he says “Elementary, my dear Watson” and “The game is afoot!” every ten seconds too …
Irene Adler was NOT Sherlock Holmes’s love intrest. EVER. Read the books before making movies about them!
