LOL! I know Shemar Moore is half white…but damn! That’s no need to waste a fine ass man like him on X…again! First Brad, now Shemar? The interest of the Vince Vaughns of this world are more in line with what a woman of X’s personality (not to mention fugness) warrants. She qualifies as the original butterface.

The Envelope Review

Angelina Jolie has not been nominated for an Academy Award since she won best supporting actress of 1999 for “Girl, Interrupted.”

That’s surprising considering Jolie’s prominence in American pop culture, her Hollywood lineage as princess of a past Oscar king (Jon Voight, “Coming Home,” 1978), popularity with other awards (three Golden Globes, two SAG Awards) and box-office success (movies grossing more than $2 billion worldwide).

Largely, the oversight is probably due to the choices she’s made — preferring mostly popcorn pix — over the last decade. But last year Angelina Jolie had a good shot at a bid for her critically hailed turn as Mariane Pearl in “A Mighty Heart,” which reaped her nominations from the Golden Globes, SAG, Indie Spirits and Critics Choice. When she failed to make the Oscar cut, award gurus wondered: Has Angelina Jolie’s life in the tabloid headlines lost her the respect of those notorious snobs in the motion-picture academy? And, if so, can she ever win it back?

Now here comes Hollywood’s most beloved cowboy and trusty Oscar magnet, Clint Eastwood, to the rescue as the director of “Changeling,” which I saw Thursday at the New York Film Festival media screening.

Audience response: huzzahs galore. Clint has not only crafted another fine film that’s going to garner widespread attention and admiration, but it’s not an ensemble film like his last best-picture nominee, “Letters From Iwo Jima,” or, to a lesser extent, his last best-pic winner, “Million Dollar Baby.” It’s all Angelina all the screen time.

You only care about this movie because you buy her performance as a heroic, real-life woman, circa 1930, who battled L.A. police when they locked her up in an insane asylum when she refused to accept a mysterious boy as her missing son. Four of the last five best-actress winners — and seven of the last 10 — portrayed real women. And it’s a big, showy role at that, full of big crying scenes, booming declarations and righteous strutting. Oscar voters love all that.

One problem might be the fact that she doesn’t bury her famous personality inside a vastly different character like Nicole Kidman did portraying Virginia Woolf in “The Hours” and Helen Mirren as Elizabeth II in “The Queen.” But Julia Roberts didn’t do that in “Erin Brockovich.” That’s a good parallel to make because, in both movies, the actresses are celebrated Hollywood beauties taking on defiant, crusading roles while looking and acting a lot like their lovely selves. Also: just like Jodie Foster in “The Silence of the Lambs” and, minus the crusading part, Cher in “Moonstruck.” Obviously, Oscar voters like that sometimes.

Yes, that’s true too of Angelina Jolie in “A Mighty Heart” — which had the plus of being based upon a real, heroic person as well — but Oscar voters like the movies they hail to be successful. “Heart” was a huge flop at the box office because studio execs foolishly decided to open it wide during summer, which was the wrong time of year for that kind of film, and a long time away on the calendar from derby season. Furthermore, it happened to be about a topic — war in the Mideast — which also came up short of Oscar expectations for “In the Valley of Elah” and “Charlie Wilson’s War.” It’s possible that Jolie was just one more casualty of war, bad timing and and dumb studio decisions.

However, that didn’t stop her from being nominated for all of those other top Hollywood awards.

Now, though, she has a lucky Oscars charm: Clint Eastwood’s movies have won chunks of academy gold for five actors — Gene Hackman (”Unforgiven”), Sean Penn and Tim Robbins (”Mystic River”) and Hilary Swank and Morgan Freeman (”Million Dollar Baby”) — and generated four more nominations.

Four of his flicks have been nominated for best picture (”Unforgiven,” “Mystic River,” “Million Dollar Baby,” “Letters From Iwo Jima”) and two have won. Which sets up the next question: Can “Changeling” be nominated for best picture? We’ll know more about that possibility when reviews are published and box-office receipts tallied. Meantime, its fans should be reminded of Clint’s last derby trot two years ago when it looked, early on, like “Flags of Our Fathers” would be his best-pic contender. But when he released a second flick later that same derby season, “Letters From Iwo Jima” — in Japanese, no less — the latter zoomed ahead.

Up ahead on this year’s track: Clint’s next new release, “Gran Torino,” in which he also stars, due out in December.

Oh, one last thing. Could be important. The only other time Angelina Jolie got nominated for, and won, an Oscar, her character was locked up in a looney bin. Had she kept that in mind while making “Changeling,” maybe she wouldn’t have put up such a nasty fight when being locked up in the cuckoo house again. A good omen? Or crazy thought?

CinemaBlend Review
Changeling Featurette
By Katey Rich: 2008-10-02 16:06:16

Changeling Featurette I saw Changeling this morning at the New York Film Festival and found it really engaging, especially its lead performance from Angelina Jolie, who I’ve become so accustomed to seeing in tabloids that I almost let myself forget how talented an actress she is. Now the advertising campaign for the movie, which opens October 24, is ramping up, starting with a “featurette” hosted by Entertainment Tonight, of all people.

Source: http://www.cinemablend.com/new/Changeling-Featurette-10402.html

At the press conference following today’s New York Film Festival screening of Changeling, a critic in the audience asked director Clint Eastwood about his choices to make two movies in a row about women standing up for themselves, following a career of tough-guy roles. And while Eastwood’s latest is, again, the story of a woman finding her inner strength, he doesn’t have nearly the same success with Changeling’s Christine Collins that he did with Million Dollar Baby’s Maggie Fitzgerald. Gorgeous to look at and stirring in parts, Changeling is a dressed-up period piece with nowhere to go, a cipher masquerading as a heartfelt piece of work.

None of the blame, as it turns out, lies with Angelina Jolie, who has been a celebrity so much more than she’s been an actor lately that we’ve forgotten how powerful she can be. Wraith-thin, with her loose 20’s-style dresses hanging from her bony shoulders, Jolie’s Christine is a weak outsider from the very start, living alone with her son Walter and working as a manager at the telephone company. She’s wrecked entirely when Walter disappears one day, but things really go awry when, five months later, the police return to her a boy whom she know instantly is not her son.

Convinced to take the kid home on a “trial basis,” Christine futilely pleads her case to the cartoonishly wicked LAPD, personified by Capt. J.J. Jones (Jeffrey Donovan), a cop desperately trying to avoid the bad publicity. Assisted by a fervent anti-cop preacher (John Malkovich), Christine goes public with her case, and is immediately thrown into the psych ward for her trouble. The whole thing blows up from there, with protests in the streets and a top lawyer hired pro-bono, and eventually a criminal’s confession that finally starts to prove Christine correct.

Jolie weeps and screams her way through scene after scene, committing herself fully to a character who never emerges as a real person, just a devoted mother brought to the brink. Amy Ryan is sparky and provides some of the movie’s few laughs as a fellow psych ward inmate, and Jason Butler Harner is chilling as the serial killer who emerges halfway through the film and leads Christine to the truth about her son. But the supporting characters, like Christine, are merely pieces moved around the motions of the script, playing their part and then getting shuffled off so we can watch Angelina cry some more.

As the movie wraps itself up in constant prologues, stretching out the two-and-a-half hour running time, a movie that should have been taut and vicious becomes a meandering, sentimental period piece, a strange place for Eastwood to wind up. It’s good but not great, pretty but flat, and compared to some of the other work that has come down the NYFF pike, simply out of place.

SpoutBlog Review

Pasadena, 1928. Single mom Angelina Jolie is a switchboard supervisor who glides around the telephone company on rollerskates. It’s adorable, but her signature smoky eyes and blood red lips mean she’s probably moonlighting as either a tramp or a clown. Scenes confirming one option or the other were, unfortunately, left on the cutting room floor.

The LAPD is corrupt –– so corrupt that the holiest man in town is John Malkovich. So when Angie’s son goes missing, they give her back a “fake boy,” and the evil detective (Jeffrey Donovan) can’t figure out if the ensuing scandal means he should have an Irish accent or not.

We drink every time Angelina hysterically proclaims, “He’s not my son!” We get very drunk, and this may be why we can’t figure out why Clint Eastwood made a cheap-looking Lifetime movie that eventually turns into an “And justice for all!” episode of SVU. Just when the drinking game is starting to get really out of control, there’s a twist so shocking that it’s punctuated by two inches of ash falling off a policeman’s cigarette … in slow motion.

This sobers us up pretty quick. “Really, Clint?” we say out loud, right in the middle of the screening. But no one can hear our cry, they’re so overwhelmed by the sound of Angelina’s constant tears, which just keep flowing, long after the stakes have vanished, because Eastwood can’t help but indefinitely extend the misery. So we shrug. “Oscars for all!” Now for another drink.

Where are the quotes from the press conference? did she said anything at all?

2 days and no pics, the coverage is so small and the only one who is promoting the movie is Clint.

I’m starting to believe that something is wrong with angelina.

#647 African Girl…

What “Mmmblbble” means?????

Yeah, what are you trying to say with this words????

Bahahahaha!! Shemar Moore??!! LOLOL!!

Shemar is as GAY as Al Reynolds. Hahahahah!!

omg. Ellen must really hate Maniston too. LOL

Shemar Moore is gayer than a two dollar Liberace bill. He is the DEFINITION of DOWN LOW! Ahahahahaha!!

In FACT, I’m starting to think that moreso than anything else - a GOOD WAY to TELL if a man IS GAY, is if he tries to get set-up with Jennifer Aniston. I guess it’s because some big-time CLOSETED gay guys, are FULLY aware that she is so f**king desperate, she will hook up with them, and she can be their beard and they’ll get untold publicity being as they’ve been ‘christened,’ as ‘THE ONE,’ (latest one) who will finally rescue the Jolie Pitt victimized Jen.

Hahahaha :-D

Seriously, knowing what a homely coattail riding trainwreck she is, what A-list star who is interested in a SERIOUS career, gets even close to the b*itch?? LOL Answer: They don’t. But a seriously closeted famewh*re would GLADLY volunteer! Example: “Shhhhhhemar,” as he’s known.

Lotsa gay old stories, ’bout Shemar….this is one of the biggest which ran in People Mag, LAST YEAR:

Shemar Moore Has ‘No Problem’ with Nu.de Photos
By Stephen M. Silverman

Originally posted Friday July 20, 2007 05:25 PM EDT

Shemar Moore recently raised eyebrows after nu.de photos of him surfaced – but the Criminal Minds star says he has “no problem” with the revealing shots.

Asked by TV Guide.com about the pictures, which ended up in a supermarket tabloid and on the Internet, the TV actor, 37, replied, “You mean of me frolicking on the beach? You know, the worst part of that whole thing for me was the frolicking, because, to me, it sounds like I was skipping or something like that.”

But when it comes to the pictures, he says, “Look, I had no problems … What I have a problem with is their making such an issue out of me being gay. I’ll say it right now: I’m not gay. Not even a little bit. I love women. Women are god’s greatest creation.” (The photos were allegedly shot on a gay nud.e beach in Hawaii.)

(Ahahahahahahaha! :-D Cliniqua is rollin’ y’all…by the way - I’ve seen the pics, and if being CAUGHT on the gay nud.e beach wasn’t enough — he mows his man lawn also. hahahaha I mean not just a trip, really shaves it within an inch of it’s life…GAYYYYYYY hahahahah)

Moore, a former model, is also quick to add, “But I have no problems with people who are gay. My godfather was gay; he died of AIDS. I have dear friends that are gay. I’m very straight. The article said I got ‘caught.’ I didn’t get caught. I willingly went to Hawaii. I willingly went to Maui, with two girlfriends of mine. I’m a single man. I had two girlfriends out there, and we wanted to go skinny-dipping.”

(Ahahahahahahhaha)… :-D Cliniqua is spraying Pepsi everywhere!!…notice he says he had TWO gfs with him, that makes him extra EXTRA ‘not’ gay. Ahahahahahaha!!)

And, since everyone’s a critic, Moore was also asked to assess what the lens captured. “Lemme just say this: Thank god the water was fairly warm. That’s all I’m going to say.” Still, he added, “It wasn’t my best day. But it wasn’t an awful day.”

Classy, gay boy.

Next up, expect Kevin Spacey to announce he wants to ‘date’ Jen. No, scratch that — I guess if Spacey needed a beard, he would definitely choose an A-lister, not Aniston. lolol

I didn’t think it was possible for her to get more pathetic. But when gay D-listers actually THINK they have a REALLY good shot, and when Ellen is foisting them on you…man, you are really REALLY toast.

Hahahahaha.

Oh, I almost forgot…Shhhhhhemar, is on PROBATION. 36 months and community service…issued last summer. DUI, speeding. etc. Bahahaha. Nice job Ellen, Noice job. LOLOL

diana @ 10/03/2008 at 5:47 pm
Hmmm a day late and dollar short. We have seen beautiful pictures of AJ at her photocall. Browse through the thread before smearing. Just a suggestion.

CLINIQUA @ 10/03/2008 at 5:51 pm
I thought Shemar was the dude caught naked on a gay beach. Perfect match for Whiny.

Other auteurs have figured out that going indie is the solution to getting out of movie jail. It’s easier for foreign helmers. When Phil Noyce, Werner Herzog, Barbet Schroeder, David Cronenberg, Roger Donaldson, Gillian Armstrong, Paul Verhoeven or Guillermo del Toro get fed up with the studios they can go home and work at the top of the food chain in their own country. Noyce took the leap away from the studios with “The Quiet American” and “Rabbit-Proof Fence” and now he’s back prepping Sony’s “Edwin A. Salt,” set to star Angelina Jolie.

Butterfruit/LLm- ( like your name, Butterfruit…hahaha) - thanks for the video, can’t wait to see it tonight.
