As so many before me have said, I’m astounded by the poor judgement Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise consistently show as parents. It’s a cool, autumn day in New York, Mother and Dad are in sweaters and turtlenecks and the baby is dressed as if it’s July! Very, very ODD!

Suri seems to be out at all hours of the day and night, ruling out a normal schedule for a two year old, she’s constantly dressed inappropriately, they’re raising her within the doctrines of what amounts to a cult, they couldn’t seem to wean her from the bottle despite what every doctor recommends, and they drag her from one place to another as if she’s a doll rather than a child. There’s no consistency in this child’s life. Any parent can tell you that what they’re doing is obviously incorrect and dangerous for Suri.

Holmes and Cruise seem to be poor parents who are far more interested in themselves (and gaining PR coverage) rather than their little girl.

you forget this little girl is almost 3 years old. i dont know much experience you have but i have two nieces who are the same age. twins to be exact. one of them will only wear pants and a shirt, she will not wear a dress. the other twin will only wear dresses cause they are pretty; and only if the are party dresses. go figure!! it’s called learning to express oneself.

With that dress, I’m surprised she’s not wearing a tiara. Poor little child. She looks dirty and unkempt. Her parents are whacks.

I read in a magazine she does not have friends of her own and that Tom is picky about other people’s children. She spends most of her days with nannies and hundreds of her stuffed animals. Also stated that she really wants friends to play with, a doggie and a little sister.
From what I read- Katie wants to work on her career first, Tom does not want animals because of the hair all over the house and furniture, etc. Poor Suri. I do know that is is very important at her age- to be able to socialize with other children..etc..

The temperature got up to 71 degrees in NYC yesterday. I’m sure the temperature drops in the evening but these pictures were taken in the afternoon so I doubt the temperature was much lower than 68 degrees or so. I rather doubt Suri needed a sweater.

Lastly, to those who have headstrong children who want to wear what they want to wear as toddlers. I’ve been there, done that. But when it came to keeping them warm and being a parent, there were lines. I may have to ask, do you want to wear a sweater or a jacket, the pink tights or the white, but as the parent, on a 58 degree day, they were dressing appropriately to keep them safe and healthy. I believe in giving children choices early on so they learn how to make good ones, and not breaking a child’s spirit, but I daresay, if she wanted to run outside naked because she didn’t like wearing any clothes, someone would certainly be a parent then.

They may just be dashing for the car or another building, and I really don’t care what the temperature is, the fact is they dressed themselves one way and their daughter another. Wolfie, you’re really falling beneath yourself. For a start, I have never bashed them.

Secondly, think about what you said. The tabloids pay lots of money for photos of Suri, which they do not for the older children. You have admitted that. Now, follow me here. Whether the Cruises use Suri as a publicity draw is a moot point; doesn’t matter whether anyone thinks it or not. The point is you keep saying photos of Suri wouldn’t benefit them. Well, young and naive sir, if the photos are worth lots, then thats publicity to any actor and actress, which makes it a benefit especially when they’re opening a new show or movie. The more they are in the public’s eyes, the better.

As for the sunglasses, don’t be ridiculous. Sunglasses on children are not silly. My children are young adults and they had sunglasses when they were two. Try living in glaring snow and sun for 6 months of the year, or Arizona heat and then tell me it’s silly to have sunglasses on toddlers. You’re obviously young because you just don’t think like a nurturing adult at all. All of this shallow thinking shows your immaturity.

My point about dressing differently is this. If it’s cold enough for me to wear a sweater and jacket, then I believe it’s reasonable to presume that my tender skinned toddler is going to be chilly too. If I don’t consider that then I’m a p**s poor parent. And here we have two that considered the temperature enough to dress themselves warmly but didn’t consider it for their little one. I’m willing to bet it wasn’t malicious on their part, certainly not trying to be abusive or neglectful. I’lm sure that they just didn’t think; pretty dress and all, let’s go… but it still doesn’t make it very mature of them after two years of raising her, to appear so clueless.

It looks like Suri is angry because Mom & Dad are forcing her to face the cameras. In many other shots of her in NYC she is hiding her face and curling her body into whichever parent happens to be holding her at the time. I guess Mom & Dad got around her turning away from the cameras by making her walk on her own, and each parent holding a hand. Looks like she is going to deal with the papparazzi straight-on, if somewhat defiantly. She looks wonderfully spirited, but not at all happy. Should she have more privacy as she moves through childhood, and the freedom to be a child, rather than papparazzi bait? Isn’t it important to allow their daughter the time & privacy to explore childhood and all the mystery that lies within that state that is so fleeting? There is plenty of time for her to learn how to handle the press. Let her be a child first.

Re Suri in dresses, when my daughter was about Suri’s age, we were transferred to Norway and she used to run out in the snow with no coat and no shoes. She still does not like heavy clothes. And like Suri, she did not like wearing pants and shorts. Loved her bright dresses and garish shoes and still has her own style of dressing now. Children are all individuals. Stop being so mean and hard on Suri. She is a beautiful child, obviously very loved, looks pretty healthy to me and also has 2 sets of grandparents. How lucky can a little girl be?

They already explained in that popular Vanity Fair interview why they kept her hidden. How could even tell that they use her for paparazzi attention when they’re seen doing the most normal and mundane things like walking from one place to another and going to the park?

What mistreatment? She’s clothed, fed, stimulated, etc. like any other kid.

The shame of it all is that most of us haven’t bashed the Cruises at all, just speculated and commented about their daughter’s welfare, ie not dressed warmly enough. Now tell me, if you saw a woman walking down the streets of your town all week long with the temperatures dropping, she dressed warmly but her toddler constantly in summer frocks, would you not express concern? I would dare say that those of us who have commented are woman who’ve had children and have this strange idea that children should be treasured and guided, that they are people too. There are those on here who defend the Cruises in that aspect, speaking as if their daughter is a possession to do with as they will. Children are not possessions; they are people. And that is what makes me angry. This child is a person, not a thing.

This family is SO good looking and classy! Ok, Brad&angie and Shiloh are beautiful, but they all dress like, well, like they rolled out of bed…Shiloh’s hair is NEVER combed, always all over her face. You say Suri needs a trim in the bangs? Shi’s hair makes you want to grab it and put a little bow, anything, it’s a mess. I like the postings calling them idiots and not what for having no sweater on her. It was 70 degrees today in NY, big deal, and she’s going into a van. Let’s talk about your hero’s, the bran&angie, look at the DYED hair on a 6 yr old! Gross and disgusting, and Pak looks like god knows what with his hair ,long and stringy and last pic showed a blonde streak! Yuck!! Don’t even put Suri in the same sentence with them! But nothing is ever said, because this is A&B! Amazing. Nobody with a brian dyes streaks, mohawks, on children, unless they are grooming them for god knows what. Katie is the classiest act going, a beauty. Tom, handsome, he’s striking. And their daughter, is a DOLL. They, not the others you so admire, are the most beautiful family, hands down.
Suri’s little dresses are adorable, she looks a lot better then Z or S, believe me! She’s obviously being ‘groomed’ for the better life and I bet, will act accordingly. Time will tell on other kids of HW today.

The temperature got up to 71 degrees in NYC yesterday. I’m sure the temperature drops in the evening but these pictures were taken in the afternoon so I doubt the temperature was much lower than 68 degrees or so. I rather doubt Suri needed a sweater.

I live in NYC and it was definitely jacket weather today. Every kid on the streets had a jacket or a sweater on. God knows why they can’t dress that child appropriately. Does she have any play clothes at all?

And why in the world don’t they ever use the back exit of their building to avoid the paparazzi? Instead, they have to parade her out the front entrance for all the world to see. The poor child always has this traumatized look on her face. It’s like she’s a big animated Barbie doll to them that they dress up and parade around. I feel sorry for that child.

They are the family I respect in Hollywood and believe me I dont respect many in Hollywood.

First of all, that’s not really a summer dress. It is from J&J’s holiday line that came in Sept of 2007. Suri is soooo cute. So what if she never wears play clothes. I put my daughter in dresses everyday…although she only goes to daycare.
