Watching Sarah Palin was like watching a phone sex commercial or an infomercial at 3am. Poor Biden had to subject himself to an impulsive child who insist on reading off the que card like a spelling bee contest!

Biden is a wise and grounded politician who has a world of experience more than most governors around. He speaks the same language as Obama.

Wow you people must really enjoy the shape our economy is in right now, I mean lord forbid if McCain wins and dies while he is in office .. Would you people really be comfortable with Pallin as PRESIDENT? This is sicken that our country is full of loose minded people like that .. I must admit that during the debate she did a lot better then I thought she would do but overall the FACT is she is not ready to have that much power and if I hear soccer mom one more time I’m going to puke! Sarah cheerfully admitted she won’t answer the question the moderator interpret, instead she went off on tangent and repeatedly talked about the oil drilling over and over. Her political reality is such that she can interpret the Constitution as she wishes, regardless of whether that interpretation has any merit….

Joe Biden clearly won this debate. He was able to stay on track and give clear, concise answers. Palin made it clear that she would answer questions only on her terms and to hell with the moderator and the country who wanted to hear her answers to the questions asked.

Sarah sucked big time!! I can’t imagine that some of the people posting here saw the same debate I saw. She was so careful and afraid to change the topics, she even admitted to not answering some of the questions, becasue she knew nothing! Hey guys, im writing this from inside my highschool library. I watched the Debate last night, and i would like to say that this countrey is heading for the worst. McCain Palin want to keep us in this war. Obama Biden wants us out. It’s a simple fact as many Americans can humbly agree on, that This war has hurt us economicly, spiritualy, and mental on a number of levels. We need to get out of Iraq, we shoulden’t have been their in the first place. This is my stong belif, bu to each his/her own. Now, Palin was talking about if we leave Iraq all our efforts will be in vein; “wave the white flag of surrender…”. If we don’t leave we will be far worse spending more money their than e are on schools here at home. Personaly I am suprised i have internet connection here. Npw anyway back to the issue. If we pull out of Iraq, we arn’t surendering. We are handing the people back their country. The brave men and women fighting over their now i’m sure of it don’t want to be their. if they had the choice granted. But it’s not surrendering to get people out of their. Why are American’s dieing? Why are we their? Why are we spending so much money, and continueing to do so. they hae an 80bill surplus. Look if we don’t leave iraq more americans will die and more money will be spent on a lost cause. to leave now would be far better than to stand their and die.

I can see clearly why this country is in trouble just by reading some of the previous posts. Biden did not stay on track. many of the questions given to him were answered with “look what bush did!!” and he was outshined by Palin. Obama/Biden don’t want to accept the fact that pulling out of iraq right now would not only could put the u.s. at risk it will make it all the more difficult to confront the problems in afganistan and pakistan not to mention iran!! wake up people. oSama/Biden is the fast track to failure.

Neither VP candidate directly answered the questions, that is normal for debates. Either one did great for those that wanted them to. Both of them had coaching and rehearsals before hand, that’s normal too.

Biden convoluted some of his answers with too many numbers and muddied the waters with excessive detail, as feared by the Demo party.

Palin was quite generic with her answers but did get into specifics while dancing a bit.

Nobody “won” except to the voters who have favorites and already made up their minds, although Palin probably secured more support from undecided women voters, and those who want no BS in Washington.

A good debate overall, but both parties were fairly careful to maintain status quo.

Why didn’t Biden launch more aggressive attacks on McCain? His past shows him less of a wimp, but with buffoonery racist remarks, so I’m sure he was told to be more tactful.

Why didn’t Palin talk about the Fannie Mae corruption with three individuals paying themselves 9 figure bonuses, funding the Obama campaign, and then being currently employed by Obama?

If they did speak of this, maybe I was out of the room at the moment, but to me this indicates that they were too afraid to rock the boat and potentially look bad.

This debate was a JOKE…at least on the part of Sarah Palin.
She is so inept and ridiculous that it makes my stomach churn. Her “aw shucks” demeanor comes off as totally fake and staged. Joe Biden has 26+ years in politics, so of course he has more facts at his fingertips and is smoother in a debate. He’s done it for decades.

That being said, neither Biden nor Palin is running for President. Palin isn’t on the ticket because she is an expert on national policies - she is on the ticket because she is a normal person who decided to get involved, and where she did get involved locally, she made a huge difference and showed character, judgment, intelligence and the ability to get things done without a bunch of political games. There is a reason she has a 80% approval rating - people like what she gets done.

Sarah Palin has only been on the national political scene for a month and a half. She hasn’t spend her life in national politics like Joe Biden has. But again, they are not running for President.

I found it telling that Palin described her role as VP as supporting McCain’s policies and addressing specific areas that she knows well. That is what our VPs usually do.

Biden, on the other hand, described his role as more of a partnership with Obama. Well, that’s the Bush/Cheney set up, which is ironic.

The whole “heartbeat away from the Presidency” thing is a bunch of goofy scare tactics. McCain isn’t going to drop dead in office (oh how they wish). Palin will be just fine. She didn’t know anything about being a mayor when she became one. She didn’t know how to be a governor when she became one. She rocks at both.

It would be very foolish to count Palin out because she is the outsider and a rookie. She has proven to be very capable when she has been given the challenge.

I really think that Joe Biden gave CLEAR details as to what changes that Obama and he are going to uphold. Sarah Palin was ok but she all over the place and she continued to read cue cards which to me, illustrates that she’s unsure as to what issues need to be resolved. And I learned in public speaking class during my undergraduate days, that one thing you just don’t do is say “Um”. Just pause and gathered your thoughts, don’t ever say “Um”.. I would like to thank McCain for choosing Palin as his running mate because now I can be more hopeful that Obama will win. If Obama wins McCain will look back and know his choice of running mate lost him the race. Although she did better last night than I expected her to do it was obvious that she gave her carefully rehearsed answers over and over. She did NOT answer the questions. When they asked about the subprime mortgages she couldn’t even talk about it knowledgeably. She had to change the subject. I’m betting she doesn’t have a clue what happened on Wall Street or understand how our economy works. She would be a disaster in the White House and for our country.

Because of her I have re-registered to vote and will be voting for the first time in 20 years. Fear of her shook me right out of my voter apathy. I don’t ever want to look back and say that I didn’t do my part to defeat her and McCain taking over our wounded economy.

Debate aside, the fact that actual parts of her interview with katy couric went into a SPOOF COMEDY video, and were the funniest bits, is really quite scary… but very funny - best bit of television I have seen for a good while. DID she every “get back to her on that one”?

regardless of how she did in the debate, her winking puts me off a hell lot..i would take points off her for trying to flirt if i were the judges.

I have never been a big follower of politics simply because most of the time it gives me a headache how things are runned. After watching the little bit of the VP debate… I definately had a HUGE headache.
You could see how inexperienced and uncomfortable Palin was in the beginning of the debate. Her voice was shakey and she looked as stiff as a robot. But what really irritated me the most was how she always avoided questions she couldn’t answer. And seriously, when you’re running for a position so high, who tells the medator flat out that she’s not going to answer the questions being asked!?
The things she talked about were Alaska, energy… and Alaska. Seriously….. Alaska may have appreciated being mentioned SO MANY times…. but what about the other 49 states that Palin could potentially represent?
I am proud of women rights and were its come so far. I think that if the McCain/Palin party gets elected…. it would be a shame for all women out there who have worked to get women rights were it is. Why take a step back?

sorry to break it to you we’re not sore loosers. what we republicans hate is the liberal belief that we have to pay for our neighbor’s food, clothing, homes, health care and education. but hey; i and my friends/family are more than prepared for an obama win. see, we’ve spent the last 12 months getting all of our money out of the united states. we’ve sold off our houses/condos and made arrangements with our employers to be transferred out of the country.

my parents have bought property in another country where they’ve had their money transferred to. my brothers/sisters have all followed. my friends and i are busy buying condos in other cities outside the united states where we’re being transferred to. guess what, we aren’t only ones. you’d be surprised how many others are doing the same thing.
we’ll stay gone as long as obama remains in power.

I don’t give a rat’s ass if Sarah Palin grew up middle class or poor like I did….she isn’t NOW. She and her husband make over $200K together. Anyone who has access to a MANSION is not POOR, for God’s sake. So for her to act like she feels our pain NOW is ridiculous and a load of crap. Joe Biden grew up poor too but he clearly said that he has a good life now and does not try to act like he can relate to how I feel. WAKE UP people..and open your EYES. Why do you care about how well you can relate to a politician anyway…you aren’t going to sit and drink a beer with them. You aren’t going to be BFF’s. Oh and to Jesse-#119…maybe you should actually read something once in while so you would know that Sarah Palin did NOT win every poll. She won on being more likeable…yeah, like this is some sort of freaking popularity contest…this isn’t American Idol…this is about our COUNTRY. Sarah Palin is a joke and anyone who thinks she is otherwise is a joke too.

I don’t agree with you about the how Palin doesn’t have enough experience. I think she is ready and I like how she tries to relate to everyone. It makes her unique and I like that about her.

But, I have to say that if Obama were a little more experienced, I wouldn’t mind having him as our next president. He is very smart but I just would like it to be a couple more years till he is actually president. The fact is that he just hasn’t had a lot of executive work like being in charge of a big state, as a governor has to do. It just worries me that he is not experienced enough.
