The Gosselin family, the stars of their own TLC reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8, take the November 2008 cover of Good Housekeeping, out Oct. 14.
Their show on TLC revolves around their eight children—fraternal twin girls and sextuplets (three girls and three boys). Pictured L to R, T to B: Leah, Kate, Jon, Hannah, Joel, Mady (twin), Kara (twin), Collin, Alexis and Aaden.
TV viewers enjoyed the fun and chaotic Good Housekeeping cover photo shoot during last night’s (Monday, October 6) episode of J&K+8. The article in Good Housekeeping also features an exclusive excerpt from The Gosselins’ new book, “Multiple Blessings” (cover picture below).

During the First Months with Eight Children
KATE: “There were days I just wanted to cover my head with a pillow. But I knew my babies were counting on me, and I had to keep it together. I had to keep it together for Jon, who was falling apart – he’d been laid off when I was pregnant and was applying for every job under the sun.”
The Strain on their Marriage
KATE: “But our marriage is going to go through many more years of fine-tuning. Right now it’s taking a beating, because we have a house full of children. People see us arguing, and they say ‘When will Kate and Jon split up?’ Well, never. He’s the only one who’s been by my side through all of this.”
Life Will Never Be Normal Again
KATE: “People come here and say, ‘I feel like I’m watching your show.’ That’s because this is our show. We will never feel normal again, TV show or not. Does anyone see a family with twins and sextuplets every day? No. It took me until the little kids were almost two to completely accept it.”
Parenting Eight Kids
KATE: “I’m trying to focus on the enjoyable moments, rather than keeping them clean every minute. You have to realize you’re setting the rules for life. With six, we have no room for error.”
KATE: “It’s hard to turn my brain off at night. When I choose Leah to take to the grocery store, and I don’t know when I can tell the rest of them when their chances will be, that’s guilt.”
KATE: “Mady will come in and close the toilet lid and sit there and talk to me while I’m in the shower. I like to hear what they have to say. For me, that’s more like normal parenting.”
When They’re All Grown Up
JON: “I suddenly realized that I’m going to have five son-in-laws.”
KATE: “I have very vivid dreams of our family in the future – a house full of love, laughter, and lots of grandkids to spoil. I’m already worried about that empty-nest syndrome. Just as they came in a big group and overwhelmed us, they will likely leave in a big group, and the quiet will be even more deafening.”

OMG i love this family! The kids are beautiful and the lil ones are so funny! I give her credit… she has a system going w/ Jon and I wish them many, many years of togetherness and happiness. I can’t imagine the empty nest after having 8 kdis….but by then they’ll have the grandbabies to spoil! so so cool!

#39 so true. i watch this show faithfully on mondays. love the show and they show them being so normal. i’m so happy for them as a family. so people can’t keep it together w/ one child… at least they work together, they have a system going and jon is so hands on w/ all of the kids. they both make it possible for the kids to have a somewhat normal life. way to go!
gosh they are getting so big! that is my favorite show ever and they are so darn cuteeeee!
Uhhhhh….if I did all the work of having all those puppies (stretchmarks all the way up to my scalp, etc.), it would she smart that not a one those kids looked like me. Damn, I know its vain…but I coached my kid for a day after her 1st word was ‘Da-da’. That’s right day’s end she was sayin’ Ma-ma! :-) I needed the validation after that episiotomy…what

Jon and Kate are great parents you can tell. They love all their kids and they complement each others personalities beautifully. Yes maddie is a bit of a brat but remember she was the youngest for a short while. And yes the parents get a lot of perks but it trickles down to the kids in the end. I love this family. God bless them.
I just love this family and their show. I have never missed an episode !
People Magazine just did an issue on their upcoming marriage vows renewal that they did in Hawaii that will be on TV next month.
They are also in the process of adopting a baby girl from Korea. They want to see what having a “onesie” is like !

I do enjoy the show. I have issues with Kate but I didnt marry her. And considering the stress involved with that many kids I try to give her the benefit of the doubt.
The theme that comes across that I see consistently is they love there kids. Time and time again. And that rocks.
I find it amazing that people criticize that they accept gifts. Like all those other families on TV with twins and sextuplets dont? Oh wait a second there are none. Wait, let me think, people on tv getting loads of money hmm…. your right this is wrong, people on tv should not accept any reward. (yup sarcasm)

If it wasnt for the gifts they would never go anywhere simply because of the size of there family. It would be too costly. If they only had two kids and Kate worked part time I think they would definitely go to Dis….wait a second…
Actually they did go to disney with just two kids and NO TV deal.
I say take what you feel comfortable with and enjoy to the full extent of the law.

Let’s remember people it’s a circus that exploits children for money. You guys love that? This is the childrens reality and their LIFE, CAMERAS 3 to 4 days a week. Sad.. It’s kind of like the old time side shows that people would line up blocks to see. Please be mature and don’t help in the demise of these children’s childhood. Jon and Kate claim this is the “family job” for 2 eight year olds and 6 four year olds. THE FAMILY JOB!!
YOUR “ENJOYMENT” IS COMING OFF THE BACKS OF CHILDREN” Why is it not ok, then, to work children in other countries for your enjoyment of “shoes, shirts and other articles of clothing” and yet you condone this.
The conditions may be better, but still the same premise.
I have nothing to say about parenting styles or “freebies” just that by way these tiny children are being exploited and each person who “religiously” watches the show has just put their stamp of approval, knowingly or not, on CHILD EXPLOITATION.
I’m glad you and your family enjoy watching tv together and think they are a real family. How wonderful!! How can anyone be a real family when the cameras track your every move and that of your childrens. How would you like to know that your children would grow up and go to school and get teased about your mom taking pictures of your “poop” with you standing beside it for MONEY????

For those who think they are a scam, grow up, how would you support 8 children? Its a hard job and they are amazing parents.
For those who I read calling the kids “ugly”, you have the most growing up to do…for insulting innocent 4 year olds!
Lastly those insulting Maddies behaviour need to think twice, because she is a child! Of course she will have her fits and angry issues…she has 7 siblings to compete for attention with. I’m a triplet and understand this unlike many of you.
Also I hope those who insulted her or the other children never have children yourself, you obviously are not made out for the part and would do an awful job.

I thought having litters was something that animals, not people, usually did.
And to add some context to the judgment of Angelina Jolie being unwed, Brad Pitt and her have chosen to not marry until that right is granted equally and fairly to all committed couples in the United States. They have done some incredible philanthropic things with their money and fame (e.g. New Orleans rebuilding projects).
Jon and Kate aren’t exploiting their children by putting them in the media spotlight?
I like the show and watch and think the kids are adorable. I would never find fault in any of the children and say bad things about them. They are children after all and I know mine have their bad days.
But to see comments that people are leaving that they should have this TV show beause how are they going to support and affornd 8 kids if they don’t. They are the ones who had these children, not our soceity. Raising them and affording them is their responsibility. They could get real jobs working in the real world instead of pimping out their children on national TV each week for entertainment.
This family is nothing but a KON.
