The Gosselins Have Good Housekeeping
The Gosselin family, the stars of their own TLC reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8, take the November 2008 cover of Good Housekeeping, out Oct. 14.
Their show on TLC revolves around their eight children—fraternal twin girls and sextuplets (three girls and three boys). Pictured L to R, T to B: Leah, Kate, Jon, Hannah, Joel, Mady (twin), Kara (twin), Collin, Alexis and Aaden.
TV viewers enjoyed the fun and chaotic Good Housekeeping cover photo shoot during last night’s (Monday, October 6) episode of J&K+8. The article in Good Housekeeping also features an exclusive excerpt from The Gosselins’ new book, “Multiple Blessings” (cover picture below).

During the First Months with Eight Children
KATE: “There were days I just wanted to cover my head with a pillow. But I knew my babies were counting on me, and I had to keep it together. I had to keep it together for Jon, who was falling apart – he’d been laid off when I was pregnant and was applying for every job under the sun.”
The Strain on their Marriage
KATE: “But our marriage is going to go through many more years of fine-tuning. Right now it’s taking a beating, because we have a house full of children. People see us arguing, and they say ‘When will Kate and Jon split up?’ Well, never. He’s the only one who’s been by my side through all of this.”
Life Will Never Be Normal Again
KATE: “People come here and say, ‘I feel like I’m watching your show.’ That’s because this is our show. We will never feel normal again, TV show or not. Does anyone see a family with twins and sextuplets every day? No. It took me until the little kids were almost two to completely accept it.”
Parenting Eight Kids
KATE: “I’m trying to focus on the enjoyable moments, rather than keeping them clean every minute. You have to realize you’re setting the rules for life. With six, we have no room for error.”
KATE: “It’s hard to turn my brain off at night. When I choose Leah to take to the grocery store, and I don’t know when I can tell the rest of them when their chances will be, that’s guilt.”
KATE: “Mady will come in and close the toilet lid and sit there and talk to me while I’m in the shower. I like to hear what they have to say. For me, that’s more like normal parenting.”
When They’re All Grown Up
JON: “I suddenly realized that I’m going to have five son-in-laws.”
KATE: “I have very vivid dreams of our family in the future – a house full of love, laughter, and lots of grandkids to spoil. I’m already worried about that empty-nest syndrome. Just as they came in a big group and overwhelmed us, they will likely leave in a big group, and the quiet will be even more deafening.”

they did a terrible Photoshop job, look at Hannah’s eyes, poor child!
No longer a viewer, as I did not want to support child exploitation in my home. Do these parents have a right to invade and broadcast their childrens’ private, childhood moments? And just as important, do we, the public, have the right to expect to be entertained by these children via T.V. or other media sources? In my opinion the answer to that question is, NO. Good Houskeeping are you listening?
I love the Gosselins!!!
They all look great but…wtf is up with the photoshopped Hannah and John? Especially Hannah…wow she doesn’t even look like herself or like she belongs in the family. I wonder what Kate and John think about that…
To all the people who have problems with the fact that they accept gifts from views, companies and others…
Don’t watch!!
They are greatful they get those gifts because it allows their children a life they otherwise wouldn’t have had!! What family of 10 do you know that is able to afford to go to disneyland?? Something that NORMAL sized families do!! As a family of 4 my mother could bearly afford to get us there. I would take the money and gifts also…good for them for being able to educate and do things for their children that they couldn’t have done otherwise.
I don’t know if you’ve seen this or not, but you spelled Cara’s name wrong. Poor twins are already overshadowed by the ‘tups and forced to work. You can see they’re so not into it anymore. Can it be edited?
Oh, good gravy. Good Housekeeping, there goes your credibility. And there goes another list of publications that will never be in my house again. That PR company must either be giving out big bucks to sell this load of BS or the editors of these magazines are just lazy and no one does one iota of fact checking.
I’m sure I’ll know when I’m near a copy of the issue as it’s got to stink to high heaven with all the manure you bought from Kate and her PR folks. How easy it is to full lazy magazine writers. Really, I need to put together my PR packet and send it in. Wow. Sad how far GH has fallen. I’ll make sure the issues at the grocery store are put next to the other trashy idiot rags because that’s where this magazine fits in the hierarchy of worth bottom row left corner.
crazy. not one single of them got colored eyes even though both parents have them.
I Love thier show. The kids are supper cute.
Thank you for the heads up Jared. I don’t normally buy this magazine but will be getting this issue.
I watched a marathon of this show and was annoyed.
This family is so un-natural. They scream test tube family!
Seems like Kate is competing with her brother for attention and they way things seem so one sided bugs me. Everyone has to support them by giving help or free stuff. It was their decision to have kids, why do others have to pay for that? That sister in-law having to take care of 12 kids sometimes… does Kate ever return the favour? And going on about organic this and that when she feeds her kids nothing but sugar and monkey munch.
And the way Kate trapped this younger man (imagine 27yrs old with 8 babies?!). She didn’t marry a man her age because of her control issues. She humiliates the people around her to feel better. And how can an I.T. guy afford to feed this family on one salary?
This show doesn’t show what it’s like to have a large family… Just a big RICH family. Most large families struggle financially. It costs money to feed 10 people.
Who’s going to pay for 8 spoiled teenagers when the show is canceled and nobody is buying what they’re selling? should have thought about that when the doctor asked you ‘how many do you want to implant?’.
People that gawk at children on tv and LOVE the fact that they are there for your enjoyment are contributing to their future need for therapy. I DO NOT WATCH THIS SHOW ANYMORE I used to read Good Housekeeping , but not anymore. I am not a supporter of any website. I am just someone who knows for a fact that they have no privacy. This needs to stop. STop enjoying watching these children work for your “fun” under hot lights 3 to 4 days a week and think that they are not being affected. That’s just sick. This just is not true.
This has nothing with being a hater of Jon and Kate, I am not. This is just fact. I could care less about anywhere they go and what they get. I care about what’s going on in the lives of those children.
Cant stand the greedy gosselins. All you morons out there who love them need to visit a shrink.
I love this family. I think my fav are when they answer the fan emails cause u get answers to things specifcally like about all the wonderful trips they have gone on. Kate said she feels blessed that so many people have gifted these things because there is no way they would be able to take them all there. Please dont tell me u all wouldnt accept gifts like that. If u say no ur lying lol. But I dont miss an episode and even watch the reruns because they always crack me up and even though i have 2 and not 8 kids i feel i connect with Kate
I might have enjoyed the article, but I just watched the episode on Monday night and they were faking everything and the children looked miserable. Kate kept insisting the kids “love” this sort of thing, but nothing looked farther from the truth. I felt sorry for them. Two days of hot lights and “posing.” I wish I hadn’t seen the show, then I might have looked at the article a little differently. I just felt so sorry for those kids . . . .I think Jon and Kate are not thinking of the kids’ best interests. It’s not all about trips and “things.” They need to be just kids.
I love their show! I also have pre-ordered Kate’s book. I was very excited for Kate when I saw the cover photo because she mentioned in an early episode of the show, that she’d never have a picture of all the kids looking at the camera and it looks like they all are in this!:D I sure hope they get a copy of the picture:)
Flett, the photo looks as though it’s been photo-shopped. Besides, when Jon and Kate were looking through the pictures on Monday’s episode, Cara was not smiling in any of them. They seemed sad about that, but I’m sure it won’t keep them down long. They just doctored up the photos. Didn’t you watch Monday’s episode? NONE of what we saw in GH is real. All of it was fake. So why wouldn’t they put fake smiles on these kids for the cover of GH? That’s what they did.
poor aaden looks left out! the little professor looks like he’s in left field! cute little guy!
What a great family! I’m totally buying this magazine! They kids are so cute and they’re a normal family, but with more kids than most =) I watch the show every week and absolutely love love love it!
Kate is as dumb as a box of rocks. The kids are adorable. This family is using their mutiple multiples to promote products and to provide financially for their family. Not a good plan for the kids’ mental health. I hope they don’t weasel around the guidelines and get to adopt a baby as Kate has said she wants to.
Parenting should not be a spectator sport, how would you like to go to school at these children’s ages and be taunted for your Mommy taking pictures of you pooping for national TV.
Please, Jon and Kate, get some real jobs once your children hit school age and be thankful for what you have received. Jon Gosselin’s father was a pediatric dentist who passed a way and left them with a tremendous inheritance.
Despite this, on their speaking tours they ask listeners for “love donations” despite sitting on this huge inheritance in the bank. They mislead people who are actually in need to give them money, disgusting. Kate’s legacy will be a “The Gosselin Law” to protect child actors from being exploited on reality television. Just wait.
Come on people! I think everyone who “hates” this family is jealous! I have 3 kids, have never taken them on family vacations or Disney World yet. But I am surely not jealous of the Gosselin’s. I am happy to have the cameras on them and watching them take vacations and watch the kids growing up.
Kate in an amazing woman, most women could not keep up to 8 kids even with help. I know how busy I am with 3, 8 would not be managed easily. Jon takes her crap well, he is just as fun as the kids to watch……his funny faces and comments. I think they are a great couple who are making it work despite a lot of stress.
God Bless the Gosselin’s :)
Ivermom,
Once again, why do you wish to have enjoyment off the backs of children. Once again, please research the family before you make uneducated comments. If you had did your “homework” you will see that Jon does not work and they support their family through the “family job” (Kate’s words not mine”) 4 year olds supporting working and the parents don’t. Again, once again, I know what I am talking about when it comes to them and you need to search.
I am not being critical, just real.
These parents should be ashamed - they’re exploiting their children for the sake of profiting from a tv show. Sure, in the beginning it was cute to see the darling babies, but the kids are growing, have no voice to speak out against what they’re living, and are forced to shoot a tv show 3-4 days a week, all day long, their parents are away almost every weekend, they are isolated from others their own age, live in a house w/studio lighting. I could go on and on.
Please look past the cute kids lined up and see the unhappy faces, tantrums, tears, etc. Go to ‘In Minor Consideration’, Paul Peterson’s (from the Donna Reed show)site to read his expert opinion.
Did you realize this family dressed in long sleeved sweaters for this outdoor photo shoot in 93* weather? And, they worked in the morning, had lunch, took a nap and went outside and endured even more time in the heat taking more shots! No one could have enjoyed that!
And, all for the sake of promoting their little money machines, their 8 innocent kids (who by the way, aren’t protected by any child labor laws, etc.) Makes you stop and think - or it should.
I did watch the show but I won’t anymore. Just watched the gum episode and Kate is a hateful *****! To throw away her sons teddy bear when he is standing there crying-what a cold hearted bit*h!! Went to that site about the kids Aunt Jodie and I think everyone who watches this show(as I Used too) should check it out. It really opened my eyes to Jon and Kate! Guess it was always in the back of my mind and she was always a little crazy but I don’t like her and think the show should be taken off air-also any show having a Hogan in it!! Boy am I letting loose tonight-time for bed. They wanted all the kids-well let them support them!
