The Gosselins Have Good Housekeeping
The Gosselin family, the stars of their own TLC reality show Jon & Kate Plus 8, take the November 2008 cover of Good Housekeeping, out Oct. 14.
Their show on TLC revolves around their eight children—fraternal twin girls and sextuplets (three girls and three boys). Pictured L to R, T to B: Leah, Kate, Jon, Hannah, Joel, Mady (twin), Kara (twin), Collin, Alexis and Aaden.
TV viewers enjoyed the fun and chaotic Good Housekeeping cover photo shoot during last night’s (Monday, October 6) episode of J&K+8. The article in Good Housekeeping also features an exclusive excerpt from The Gosselins’ new book, “Multiple Blessings” (cover picture below).

During the First Months with Eight Children
KATE: “There were days I just wanted to cover my head with a pillow. But I knew my babies were counting on me, and I had to keep it together. I had to keep it together for Jon, who was falling apart – he’d been laid off when I was pregnant and was applying for every job under the sun.”
The Strain on their Marriage
KATE: “But our marriage is going to go through many more years of fine-tuning. Right now it’s taking a beating, because we have a house full of children. People see us arguing, and they say ‘When will Kate and Jon split up?’ Well, never. He’s the only one who’s been by my side through all of this.”
Life Will Never Be Normal Again
KATE: “People come here and say, ‘I feel like I’m watching your show.’ That’s because this is our show. We will never feel normal again, TV show or not. Does anyone see a family with twins and sextuplets every day? No. It took me until the little kids were almost two to completely accept it.”
Parenting Eight Kids
KATE: “I’m trying to focus on the enjoyable moments, rather than keeping them clean every minute. You have to realize you’re setting the rules for life. With six, we have no room for error.”
KATE: “It’s hard to turn my brain off at night. When I choose Leah to take to the grocery store, and I don’t know when I can tell the rest of them when their chances will be, that’s guilt.”
KATE: “Mady will come in and close the toilet lid and sit there and talk to me while I’m in the shower. I like to hear what they have to say. For me, that’s more like normal parenting.”
When They’re All Grown Up
JON: “I suddenly realized that I’m going to have five son-in-laws.”
KATE: “I have very vivid dreams of our family in the future – a house full of love, laughter, and lots of grandkids to spoil. I’m already worried about that empty-nest syndrome. Just as they came in a big group and overwhelmed us, they will likely leave in a big group, and the quiet will be even more deafening.”

Oh and I am a Kate fan I think she is an Awesome mom!
some people say kate is too high strung. i was only raising 2 boys 16 months apart and i was yelling alot more than she does! Lol! and my husband acted alot like jon. ok, let’s not go there.so in my opinion they are doing a great job. i know i shouldn’t have a favorite, but it’s collin. he reminds me so much of my boys when they were little.
I love all of the Gosselin kids. They’re all wonderful, and Kate and Jon take very good care of them.
I love the Gosselins so much!
May the good Lord always bless them. We are so blessed to watch a normal Christian family, and for the Gosselins to share it. We all love them! Our prayers too for Jon & Kate in their marriage and the stress we all have in raising families.
I don’t think they are exploiting their kids.
and even if they were doing this for monetary gain can you blame them!!!!!!!!!!
6 kids + 2 all at once.
It isn’t like they had time in between, or there was some kind of planning for this.
I cannot believe that TLC would even allow this reality show on their channel.
The Gosselin family is a mess, seriously and the kids will ultimately pay for Kate’s money hunger.
Jon is basically a good Father, but he is so smothered by Kate’s sick control, that he seems unable to be the man and father he should be.
I have never seen a more neurotic, controlling, woman as Kate is. I see the repercussions of her unrealistic control beginning to make her kids as sick as she is, Mady is showing signs of insecurity, aggression and emotionally messed up, her daily tantrums are getting really bad.
Kate has been mean to Joel ………ie……..putting him on the cold laundry room floor when he was very sick because he might throw up on her precious carpet.
I refuse to watch the Gosselin side show anymore and wish it would be taken off the air.
for all of you bashing on mady. cut it out.
are you telling me you’ve never seen a little girl act upp?
and to go and say thatt if youre kid acted that way you’d hurt her.
what are you, two? if thats the case then you dont deserve any respect whatsoever. im sixteen and half you people on here are what 20? 30?
and yet youre saying stuff that only prooves you immature.
if it were youu getting free trips, you sure as hell wouldnt be complaning. they’re not a scam. how could theyy be, if theyre a real life family! you’re just jealous because youu dont have to spend tons of money to go nice places. imagine if people didnt offer them to stay at their resort? they’d never be able to go anywhere with all thoes kids.
so shut up. andd stop bashing on this wonderful family.
if you dont like them, dont say ****. its as simple as that.
and about kate…..
she’s not mean. she has to be strict in some areas because theres no other way with eight kids. she absolutely is not mean to joel. he was put in the laundry room because she cant afford having eight kids pukeing all over the carpet. and it was a quiet place away from the rest of the house. and its not like she stuckk him on the “cold floor” there was a warm comforter. so get over yourself. youd do the same.
Can somebody please explain to me what happen with Pennmommy? I avoid GWOP… It gets my blood pressure :)..
i think it’s horrible that there are people on here with such negative things to say about little kids. my 5 year old daughter LOVES the show but i could take it or leave it. kate can get on my nerves at times with her controlling ways. but with 8 kids, who knows, we all might be a little like that. i agree that sometime soon they should give the show up for the sake of their kids. it might be a little embarrassing for them to have to go to school and know that all the other kids know about every single aspect of their lives. i don’t always agree with some of the things on the show but who am i to judge? she may not agree with some of the ways i deal with things in my household . i think for anyone to come on here and have such anger towards this family needs to get a life. a couple people have made comments about researching jon and kate and finding out the “truth”. of course there are going to be some things on the show that are false. if you think there are any shows on tv ,reality or not, that aren’t somewhat fake then you are a fool.
they spelt cara’s name wrong and how can u hate this family? they are soo adorable and are great role models for clueless parents
I THINK THE KIDS ARE CUTE
I STARTED WATCHING THIS SHOW WHEN I FIRST CAME ON. I THOUGHT IT WAS GOOD. THEN AS TIME PROGRESSED AND THE PRODUCERS PAID THEM MORE THE MOTHER AND DADS HEADS STARTED TO SWELL. IVE SEEN THIS HAPPEN MANY,MANY TIMES. IT IS MY BELIEFF THAT THE KIDS ARE WORKING FOR THE PARENTS. KATES CONTUING BITCHING GETS OLD QUICK. SHE PUTS ON THE FRONT AS THE PERFECT MOTHER, EVERYTHING SHE DOES IS PERFECT WELL I AM ONE THAT DONT BELIEVE THAT B.S. SHE WOULDNT BE HAPPY WITH ANYTHING . T L.C. LETS GET A NEW SHOW AND SCRUB THEM LET JON TRY TO SUPPORT THEM LIKE OTHER PEOPLE THAT HAVE A LOT OF KIDS AND WORK FOR A PAYCHECK. BET THAT MILLION DOLLAR HOME WOULD SELL QUICK. THE THING THAT KATE DID TO JODI SHOWS HER BRILLIANCE. I NEVER AGAIN WILL ATCH THIS SHOW . LETS MOVE OB T.L.C GET SOMETHING WORTHWHILE TO WATCH ……
To Jessica and others who think it is normal to put sick kids on a floor in the laundry room…please do not think that good parents do this. Good parents put sick children on beds or sofas, using mattress pads, old plastic table cloths, towels or garbage bags under the sheets to protect mattresses or cushions. They have them within earshot to make sure they’re not crying out or choking on their own vomit. A sick child needs to be nursed, loved and parented, not scolded for getting vomit on a comforter. A nurse in the pediatric ward doesn’t put children on the floor because they might vomit or bleed or the sheets, does s/he? Of course not. The only time a child should have to sleep on the floor…sick or healthy…is if you are poor and don’t have beds. That Kate did that is beyond shocking! She could have put an old crib mattress on the kitchen floor so she could actually keep an eye on him and give him a sympathetic pat or smile or sip of water, but she chose to banish him to a dark laundry room, laying on a hard floor with only a blanket between him and cold tile. It reminded me of a prisoner of war, for crying out loud!
Oh, if you could only see them now! Kate the Christian one has filed for divorce. How bout a new GH cover for August? maybe it could read “Can’t take the heat? Get out of Kate’s kitchen!”
