Having looked at the pictures, I’m getting quite concerned about Zac. He looks so dazed and ill.

I think Vanessa holding on to his arm here (in other promo pics as well) is more of her supporting him, the one pic where she was not holding on to him, he looked lost like he was just putting one foot in front of the other.

The expression in his eyes really break my heart. The poor boy is not coping well with the pressure at all. There was a vid from the UK premiere showing him asking her to hold on to his arm. He must be in a constant daze.

I think she’s definitely coping much better than him (he’s facing most of the pressure though) and is the one supporting him this promo.

I think this promo schedule is really tight and intense. Disney should let up on him a little. I’m sure they can see what’s happening with him. Yes, he’s the ‘it’ boy and money-making and crowd-drawing machine but he’s just human and HSM 3 will not collapse if they release him from some appearances.

Hate is a strong word, how can you hate a person you never met. But if you say you don’t like her music or her acting or the way she dresses etc., it makes sense. I really think that Disney told Zac and Vanessa that they could not hold hands at any time while promoting HSM3. The whole promotional trip was weird - everyone else can talk about Zac and/or Vanessa but heaven forbid that they talk about each other. Now even Ashley is talking about Zac and how she doesn’t like him except as a brother.

In general, no one was smiling on the tour - Corbin, Ashley, Kenny , Zac. The only one who was smiling was Vanessa because she is a rock and has the strength to shine under pressure. But what was bothering Corbin? What was making Ashley so smug compared to her usual vivacious self?

Maybe our favorite couple will be going separate ways but we will never know when or why. They are the most private people about their relationship and they will not broadcast what is going on. Could I be getting over my interest in keeping up with them? All of our speculation is just that - we really do not know anything about their personal lives. People can say the nastiest things and the most complimentary things but it is all just our opinions. And to be honest - who really cares what we think anyway!?! I do get where you’re coming from.

From my observations, something changed as soon as Zac and Van got to Paris and got together with the others. The ’staring into space’ Zac was not present when they went on a stroll in paris.

I also noticed that the next day after they all hung out, Kenny went out to a cafe with Zac and Vanessa alone. From the candids, you can see Zac and Van talking seriously and then pics of them just leaning against each other with Zac staring like a zombie into space.

I suspect Kenny was the bearer of some sort of bad news because that was when the weirdness began with all of them.

I’m also suspecting that maybe, just maybe, the managers and publicists of the other cast members have been complaining about the press being focused on Z/V and the others being sidelined in promo coverage.

If you notice in interviews, they sit Zac with Ashley and Van with Corbin. Name tags are put on seats before they arrive. In London, they paired the boys together and the girls together, that was different from HSM 1 & 2. There is a conscious effort made by Disney and I suspect, the other cast’s publicists to separate them so others would get coverage.

I think Kenny is in their corner because he understands the pressure they are under and the fact that it is not their fault that the media is so focused on them.

Something is definitely wrong but I don’t think it’s between them. Everyone apart from Van appears weird on the red carpet but once they get into the theatre, pics and fan accounts show that they become quite affectionate with each other. from what I can see, they are both standing firmly together in one corner, I don’t know who is on the opposing corner.

Honestly, I was quite disappointed in Ashley’s interview with Seventeen even for her sake, she was happy to talk about Jared but the interviewee was more interested in Zac, Vanessa, and their realationship. The bulk of the interview was on Zac and Vanessa. Wasn’t Ashley’s publicist bothered that her cover interview was based on her relationship with Zac and Vanessa. And Ashley kept bringing them up unnecessarily too.

I think they, Zac and Van’s friends and co-stars are part of the pressure as well because they are happy to use them for publicity. they know they don’t like to talk about themselves so why do they keep talking about them. Are they the only friends they have?

I think they realise that really they are on their own and can only lean on each other. For all the pressure on them to keep the focus on the whole cast, everyone wants to benefit from the media interest in them and does not mind exploiting it when it suits them.

I support them as individuals and a couple. I’ll still support them if they’re no longer a couple. I choose to leave their relationship to them but enjoy and admire what they choose to reveal.

As well as being concerned when I see that they are obviously under pressure. All I can do is pray for them and hope they navigate their way through it. Like you, I hope they just live their lives and don’t let what people think get to them.

Probably, Ashley wants to keep Jared out of the limelight and maintain some privacy, that is why she’s so eager to talk about Zac and Vanessa. When a relationship is made too public, it often happens the strain gets too much and it breaks up way before its time. It has happened with alot of celebrities. And it is all the more painful when it gets splashed all over the tabloids and a constant reminder and takes a longer time to heal or for a reconciliation if ever. So I do think what Ashley did was wise.

I like Ashley but I think what she did was selfish. I don’t think she was protecting her relationship as she and Jared are more openly affectionate and don’t really face any pressure on their relationship from the media.

Zac and Vanessa are the ones facing the public scrutiny and pressure, she’s making it worse by speaking openly about things they refuse to talk about.

They are trying to step out of the limelight but she’s using their relationship to stay in the limelight. The focus is not on her as Ashley but on her friendship with Zac and Vanessa.

I don’t really know, I don’t want to make her out as a bad person, far from it, but it doesn’t sit well with me at all. I just don’t see any concern for their privacy.

What also bugs me is that when Nikki’s interview came out, I spoke out strongly about her using Zac to gain coverage and not respecting his privacy and used Ashley as an example of a friend who doesn’t exploit her friends’ privacy.

Honestly, apart from Nikki’s exaggerated expressions, I don’t see any difference with what she’s done and what Ashley’s doing, that’s why I’m really disappointed.

If we are to be objective and fair to Nikki, Ashley is only getting coverage with this interview because of Zac.
US mag, Perez Hilton and the daily mail have all reported on it and guess what the heading is: Ashley not being attracted to Zac, not about HSM 3. Half of the interview is all about Zac and Vanessa as well.

Naomi your first comment ( #210) I kind of disagree with. We got so many pictures from Paris, Munich and even London of Zac looking fine, happy, in love and in other words not weird. People who got autographs and pics, brief meeting also commented on Ashley being happy as well as corbin, zac, v. Corbin has been a bit deflated but he too toured for a long time before this & he hasn’t really done this type of promotion. I get what you’re saying but I think it’s just over analysis and little but conspiracy theory. Also yes they were not sat together all the time but this is not the 1st time that happened, Good Morning America during HSM2, it was zac, ash, corbin, v. Honestly I think Zac & Vanessa want to keep the focus away from their relationship and not answer questions about it more than Disney or any of the other cast want it. I don’t think Disney controls their lives nearly as much as people like to think.

As for Ashley’s interview, I kind of agree. She was pretty open about Jared & her in the interview. Jared not being really famous makes it a bit easier for her. She seems to bring Zac up a lot in almost any interview. It’s different from nikki because she doesn’t exaggerate as much, make up lies, and is actually a close friend of both zv. However I think that’s just the kind of person she is. I’m sure they are all great friends but when it comes to the media Ashley has always been about herself and insensitive in a way. I respect that Vanessa really seems close with her but I really won’t forget her just laughing with that radio host while he attacked V and then going back to him a year later and pretty much doing the same thing.

They have been in this for the past few years, filled with many life lessons, interviews, articles, rumors, tabloids, new people in their lives and just more experiences with this lifestyle and working with Disney. At this point I think they know for the most part how to handle themselves and what they are all okay with in terms what they all say/do.

i don’t believe in any way that you can compare her to nikki. yes, there is quite a bit of focus on her relationship with zac and vanessa in this interview, but the girl is not name dropping. she is responding to the questions that are being asked of her. the fact that she is forthright in her answers does not make her actions similar to those of nikki’s, who clearly brought up zac’s name without any direct provocation from the interviewer.

ashley, zac and vanessa have been friends for a long time, and as such, she felt comfortable discussing them. furthermore, she does not reveal anything too personal, all she does it reiterate what a great couple they make.

i believe it is a shame that for the other cast members of HSM, their time in the spotlight is inevitably overshadowed by “zanessa.” this was very obvious in during the Euro tour of HSM3, as evidenced by every blogger, tv spot, and newspaper article that headlined their coverage with “Zac and Vanessa…..” rather than stating the “cast of HSM….”

but back to ZV, i hope they get some rest before the U.S. leg of the promo tour kicks off!

I was just reading one of my local paper’s and in the entertainment part it had this about Zac so I thought I’d post after all the discussion that has gone on over the promo tour, it said the followering:

High School Rules For Zac
High School musical star Zac Efron has promised to stay squeaky clean after signing a contract with Disney bosses. He’s not allowed to be seen kissing in public, drinking alcohol or coming out of clubs in the early hours.

Now I’m not saying if it is true or not it was just in the paper, but I somehow can’t see Zac signing something like that mainly becuase it would keep him tied to Disney and he has nade it clear that he wants to move on which I think is fair enough, but also he’s nearly 21 so if he wants to kiss in public that’s his choice, if he wants to go to a club again it’s his choice at nearly 21 that side of his life is down to him not Disney or anybody else.
