Angelina Jolie Backs Barack Obama?

Angelina Jolie Backs Barack Obama?

Angelina Jolie opens up to the German edition of Vanity Fair about everything from politics to her newborn twins. Here are some choice quotes via Us Weekly:

On why she could be voting for Barack Obama: “Obama is fighting for international justice, he wants to intervene militarily in genocides abroad, and he wants to close down Guantanamo Bay. They are things which could move me to vote for him, not his roots. Of course, an American president like Barack Obama would be great for my family but would not be a reason to vote for someone.” (On Monday, Brad carried a notebook with a Obama sticker on it.)

On why she’s proud of the USA: “I am very proud of being American, and all my children have got American passports. For me, our family is just what America is - a melting pot, a mixture of many different races and nations. My children should be proud of their Asian and African roots, but that in no way means [is] a lack of respect for the fact that they and their parents are Americans.”

On her twins Knox and Vivienne (3-months-old on Sunday): “It’s a damned arduous business, and we are often simply whacked out because it is twice as hard with two babies as with one. But it also makes for double the fun. After we flew back from Europe, we were all suffering a bit from jetlag. We were all in bed early, but at half past four, they were awake and making a real racket… Brad took care of them. He said to me, ‘Go back to sleep, you’re back to work in the morning,’ and moved into the kids’ room with them. He is an astounding father, full of devotion… [Knox and Vivienne] have quite similar, stable rhythms. Every three hours they get hungry, then I have to satisfy them. But that’s OK, the two of them are totally sweet. When you see them, you think they were made for each other. They laugh together, they sniff each other, touch each other. It is beautiful.”

On struggling to find alone time with Brad: “Sometimes, at the end of the day, we try to retire to the bathroom to be undisturbed,” she says. “But then [the kids] hear the water running and want to come in and, yet again, we are all together. But that doesn’t disturb us because they are great kids.”

On how fame has changed motherhood for her: “I would like to have more freedom, especially to have the chance to be more spontaneous with my kids. Would I like to be able to walk through the streets with my kids? Of course. Would I like to be able to wander around Manhattan and buy them an ice cream like other mothers? Of course. But it is not possible. On the other hand, every morning I wake up with the people who are the most dear to me in the whole world. That’s why I don’t feel isolated from that, which is important to me. It helps, of course, that Brad knows all about it, but he’s experienced it even more than me. We often talk about it and try to make the best of things. But I am very grateful for our life and everything that we have.”

Jolie Saved Baby Daughter from Death

21 July 2005 | From wenn.com | See recent WENN news

A pediatrics expert has hailed Angelina Jolie for saving her adopted daughter Zahara Marley from almost certain death in an Ethiopian orphanage. On her arrival in the US earlier this month, the six-month-old baby was diagnosed with a salmonella intestinal infection as well as dehydration and malnutrition - conditions which would have led to her death in her African homeland. Zahara made a full recovery following treatment at New York’s Presbyterian Hospital - and Dr. Jane Aronson, who specializes in healthcare for infants adopted overseas, is convinced Jolie saved her daughter’s life from the evidence she saw. She says, “Children with those conditions living in orphanages in developing nations can die quickly without the proper medical interventions. That would have been Zahara’s fate had she not been adopted by Angelina and brought to the US for medical care. In spite of her illness, she was very sweet, engaging and responsive. When she regained her strength she began to smile and coo. She was very connected to her mother during her hospitalization. It was clear that the love and devotion of her mother along with the antibiotics, intravenous fluids, and formula helped her to recover.”

It’s called growth. Each of us grow at our own speed. Brad learned. He talked to Norton, Bono , Penn etc Brad started getting involved . Brad spoke out after 9/11 that Pres Bush needed to put more money into oil alternatives so the US would not have to rely on imports. He also backed John Kerry and gave a speech at his old college on Kerry’s behalf. As he said he got tired of sitting on the couch.

way OT: This is an interview with Guy Pearce and he says he doesnt want kids.. Now only if certain others were honest.

Pearce’s views on life also go against the norm.

For one, he and Mestitz have agreed they will never have children. “Kate and I don’t want kids,” Pearce says. “I have a sister with an intellectual disability and I feel like I’ve got a child, in a way. I adore my mum and my sister and I’m very close, very connected with them.”

He loves lazy weekends, when their families come over and have barbecues in the backyard, where he plays with his nieces and nephews.

“It’s not that I don’t love kids or anything, because I love it when we have Kate’s family over and I can just be silly with all the nieces and nephews,” Pearce says.

“It’s just that if we had kids of our own, I don’t know if I could give them the love and attention they constantly require.”

I pretty much stopped reading after you said you weren’t posting under multiple names here. I could check with Jared, but I really don’t care how many fake names you’re using. I was being facetious with the troll yesterday, which you apparently missed. Not that I care.

BTW - I notice you didn’t address Cliniqua’s attack on your misguided post, so why jump on me for making a joke? I made one or two little cracks, she wrote a huge rebuttal to your BS. Why don’t go address her post instead of trying to pick a fight with me. Now mosey on off and see if you can come up with another crazy half-assed theory as to why Brad is making Angie’s life miserable.

Buh bye now, you’re boring me.

I have no idea. BTW - why is she my pal? Jill’s the one who called her out. I merely agreed with her. Why do I always get blamed for the ones I didn’t out? First this Medulla chick, now Snowblood. I take full credit for the trolls I’ve unmasked, but when I merely agree with other people’s suspicions I STILL get blamed. Sheesh.

Wow…I just saw the box office numbers for this weekend and “Body of Lies” tanked like a mofo! Warners is going to take a bath on this one. The budget was $70MIL and the movie only made $13.1MIL in it’s opening weekend. I can’t help it but everytime I see a major Warner’s move tank I do a little happy dance because of the way they shafted AOJJ. It also makes me wonder if Universal is pondering the fate of “State of Play” now, too. They see a major Russell Crowe/Leo flick die at the box office and they have to fear for their movie, with a similar budget, and less popular co-star in Ben Affleck. It’ll be interesting to see what happens when SOP comes out in April of next year -

ITAWU. Warner’s bosses were quite disappointed with the result, HW reporter stated the film cost around 100 million not 70 million. I’m sure without the starpower of Leo, that films gonna do worst .

It’s been so long since the Gladiator, R. Crowe can’t open a film alone. Universal must be regretting, they probably took RCrowe after the success of “American Gangster” , but AC was more a Denzel Washington movie. This is a bad omen for SOP, partnering RC with Ben Affleck a B listed with no star power. Uni need to spend a lot on marketing preventing it from flop.

PT thanks for the scans, I remember reading that at Jewel Osco back then. I thought Celebrity Living wasn’t as insane as In Touch Weekly and L&S. Their stories usually read more like a Mills & Boon or Regent Romance Story…guess that’s why they are no more, the tabloid audience (Re: Faniston Hags) don’t go for happily ever after. Nah, the miserable wenches lived for the break up stories…no matter how stupid it sounded…

++++++++++++++++++

LOL. That’s probably why Celebrity Living went under before the Bauer rags - they weren’t outlandish enough. Sad but true. Back in 2005/2006 it was the obviously fake stories that were selling. Now that nobody wants to see those same type of stories - especially when there are 6 small children involved.

Ironically that magazine is still laggaing around. i saw their special Wedding issue currently on the newstand because Angelina was on the cover along with other people. They used the picture of her during the King Fu Panda photo call in Cannes. Their article was about gussing what Angelina would wear to her upcoming wedding. The dresses in that issue are just jaw dropping but I don’t think Angelina would be wearing any of those. .

oops I mean guessing

BP and AJ kicking butts overseas.

By contrast, “Burn After Reading” scored well with a $2.7 million first-place Spanish launch for Universal, pushing the foreign cume to around $20 million early in the comedy’s international run.

Universal’s “Wanted” continued to underscore the foreign appetite for actioners, shooting down $3.8 million at 1,536 thanks mostly to a $2.4 million launch in China. The Angelina Jolie vehicle’s due to cross the $200 million international mark within two weeks.

+++++++++++++++++

Thanks, BDJ. I was wondering when there’d be an update about Wanted’s foreign take. So it’s looking like $200+MIL foreign + $134MIL domestic for about $334-340MIL overall. That’s a huge success considering the movie almost didn’t get made at all and only cost $75MIL to make. Conversely “Body of Lies” cost $70MIL and barely took in $13MIL domestic it’s opening weekend.

passing Through @ 10/12/2008 at 9:34 pm Another bit of hilarity… they don’t cite the source on this, but I remember it came from one of the British tabs…

I have GOT to stop reading this stuff!

who wrote this? I would shoot the writer.. So she gave BP hints and he forgot.. BP was so madly in love chasing her around that he was looking for excuses to give her presents.. I doubt he would have let this easy opportunity to access go by.

++++++++++++++++++

I’m pretty sure the original story came from a British tabloid. Softpedia quotes a lot of them. Sometimes they list a source, sometimes they don’t. If I had to guess I’d say it was The Dail Mail or The Mirror. They were all up in Angie’s business at the time. If you go to the link there are a bunch of other stories that talk about Brad buying a cottage near Angie’s house in Fulmer…never happened…but they cite UK sources as saying it did. Whichever British tab dug up the story of about Z’s grandmother is the one that came up with this stuff. I’m pretty sure it was The Daily Mail.

$100MIL? That sounds more accurate. I got the $70MIL figure from Boxofficemojo.

I also agree about Leo not being able to open a movie these days. He’s done well in the past, but “Blood Diamond” didn’t exactly light a fire at the box office. The Departed had Matt Damon and it, along with Aviator and Gangs of New York were highly publicized Scorsese movies.

As for Russell? No, he can’t open a movie anymore either. Even when AG was a hit last year everybody agreed it was Denzel’s movie. Frankly they could’ve cut most of RC’s scenes and the movie would still have been a big hit because it was a compelling true story. RC’s last big hit was probably “Master and Commander” in 2003. 5 years is a long time to not have a big opening weekend for a film.

What mag are you talking about? Celebrity Living? They’ve been out of business since about mid-2006. There’s another mag with a similar name, but it’s not a tabloid. The irony of their pro-Angie/Brad stance - they were published by American Media…the publishers of Star and NE!

“I can, I do and I will..somewhere there’s a man out there walking the streets who is the father to my children.” - a desperate pitiful sympathy seeking Maniston on VF in 2005.

Bahahahahaha! See, this is why Brad and Maniston were never meant to be, and should have NEVER BEEN - Maniston’s saying with that quote that she will have any Tom, **** and/or Harry’s kid…

…..while Angelina told Brad and the world, that she wouldn’t have had ANYONE’S children BUT Brad’s.

That has GOT to make that man feel like the King of the world.

:-D

I was wondering why I liked reading that mag in the checkout line.. thats it, it read like a romance novel. Wish it would return so I dont have to turn the other out of touch weeklies at the checkout line, its getting laborious.

Celebrity Living while a tabloid, seemed to be one of the few and only to really highlight the factual differences between Brad & Angelina’s relationship and his with Maniston. I loved that they pointed out how Brad’s behaviors and actions (stuck like glue to Angie) were the almost total opposite of his life with Maniston. They correctly pointed out how he spent 6 mos. away filming Troy and several months away filming O12. They kept getting in great little digs that Brad was never interested in spending that much time with Man. It was hilarious, and quite factual. Very refreshing for a ragsheet.

I know what you mean. My older brother always said he did not want kids. Everyone said he would change his mind. He didn’t he told me back when we were teens he knew he was WAY to selfish (his words) to have kids.

Now my oldest daughter swears she will never have kids. I support her in that because it is a life time job. She says she doesn’t want them for the same reason. She wants to do what she wants when she wants.

I (and unborn children all over the heavens) are grateful that they are completely honest about it.

I also, do not fault X for not wanting them just for lying about it.

Children are a huge decision and a huge part of how we envision our adult lives (if we envision it with children). It is not something to lie about hoping the other party will change their mind.

Looking back at the old stories and pictures of Brad with X as compared to the pictures of him now, no, he is not as young, yes he looks more tired, but he looks vibrant now. Involved, alive and interested. Before he looked kind of “posed” all the time.

Jolie Saved Baby Daughter from Death

Yep! This is why most of us just shake our heads when people come here complaining about Zee’s hair, saying AJ and BP shouldn’t have adopted her if they didn’t know how to care for black hair or that she would have been better off at the African Orphanage with Africans to care for her hair properly. Hey, she probably won’t be alive today but at least her hair will be well maintained.

Is seeing how that tiny baby with dried, cracked lips from three yrs ago, blossoming to the confident child with such a healthy smile she is today, not evidence enough that she is well cared for? Nah, we gotta have her hair fried and decorated with hundreds of colorful berets.

Talk about misplaced priorities!!

Z looks so beautiful!
I seem to remember in the Reader’s Digest interview with Angie that she said Z takes her hair out right after they do it. So apparently Z likes it natural!

If you let children have some say in what they wear and how they look on a day to day basis, they learn how to make decisions. Then when it is a really important decision, they defer to mom and dad. Try to stifle ALL their decision making and when they get out from under the protective eye, they go nuts.

You can always limit it. Like, “On this day and this day you get to ____, but on this day you will ________”.

I am not sure if that explains it well but I think you get what I mean.

Poor, poor Angelina can’t walk the streets of new york to buy ice cream. Instead she must take a fleet of massive, gas hogging SUVs to go around the block. Awww, I feel so bad for her. Apparently money doesn’t buy you everything. Just thousands and thousands of dollars worth of material crap, a few ugly kids, a gorgeous husband of someone else, and houses in all corners of the globe. Unfortunately, it doesn’t buy you the common sense to shut your trap. Do you whine about your crappy life while you’re visiting the refugee camps you bone bag? No wonder the UN has NO credibility. Look at the whiners it employs…
