OlderAngelina Jolie Backs Barack Obama?
Angelina Jolie opens up to the German edition of Vanity Fair about everything from politics to her newborn twins. Here are some choice quotes via Us Weekly:
On why she could be voting for Barack Obama: “Obama is fighting for international justice, he wants to intervene militarily in genocides abroad, and he wants to close down Guantanamo Bay. They are things which could move me to vote for him, not his roots. Of course, an American president like Barack Obama would be great for my family but would not be a reason to vote for someone.” (On Monday, Brad carried a notebook with a Obama sticker on it.)
On why she’s proud of the USA: “I am very proud of being American, and all my children have got American passports. For me, our family is just what America is - a melting pot, a mixture of many different races and nations. My children should be proud of their Asian and African roots, but that in no way means [is] a lack of respect for the fact that they and their parents are Americans.”
On her twins Knox and Vivienne (3-months-old on Sunday): “It’s a damned arduous business, and we are often simply whacked out because it is twice as hard with two babies as with one. But it also makes for double the fun. After we flew back from Europe, we were all suffering a bit from jetlag. We were all in bed early, but at half past four, they were awake and making a real racket… Brad took care of them. He said to me, ‘Go back to sleep, you’re back to work in the morning,’ and moved into the kids’ room with them. He is an astounding father, full of devotion… [Knox and Vivienne] have quite similar, stable rhythms. Every three hours they get hungry, then I have to satisfy them. But that’s OK, the two of them are totally sweet. When you see them, you think they were made for each other. They laugh together, they sniff each other, touch each other. It is beautiful.”
On struggling to find alone time with Brad: “Sometimes, at the end of the day, we try to retire to the bathroom to be undisturbed,” she says. “But then [the kids] hear the water running and want to come in and, yet again, we are all together. But that doesn’t disturb us because they are great kids.”
On how fame has changed motherhood for her: “I would like to have more freedom, especially to have the chance to be more spontaneous with my kids. Would I like to be able to walk through the streets with my kids? Of course. Would I like to be able to wander around Manhattan and buy them an ice cream like other mothers? Of course. But it is not possible. On the other hand, every morning I wake up with the people who are the most dear to me in the whole world. That’s why I don’t feel isolated from that, which is important to me. It helps, of course, that Brad knows all about it, but he’s experienced it even more than me. We often talk about it and try to make the best of things. But I am very grateful for our life and everything that we have.”

I think people outside America are more aware of Obama. Not much interest is payed to McCain. I don’t know why but thats just how it apears. I think they would omit her views on McCain for this reason and because they wanted to make it seem as though she was supporting one candidate over another.
It would suprize me if she actually voiced her political opionion after declaring she wouldn’t.
I mean Ted. He his “source” is Jules Asner, which last time I checked is not even a friend of Angelina or Pitty.

So true Diana. It is so true . Ted is always trying to make it seem like Angelina’s humanitarian work is fake but never mentions that Brad seriously just started his work after getting with Jolie. He is in lala land high off of Brad’s farts because even if she dumps him she will keep the humanitarian work that she started YEARS before getting with Brad Pitt.

Fundraiserchmundraiser, that was feb of ‘07, way before Obama was even considered to be a frontrunner, how brave was that? She only showed up for her pal Oprah probably - not thinking Obama would be THE nominee…plus, fundraisers don’t necessarily speak to endorsements, most high-profile people and corporate entities give campaign contributions/funds to SEVERAL candidates waaay before the field is narrowed down. Which she did.
THAT has nothing to do with NOW, and Maniston REFUSING to say she is for Obama, as recently as a month ago! What I AM REFERRING TO is Maniston, being interviewed less than 3 weeks ago at the TO Film Fest on CBC, and REFUSING to endorse anyone, and saying, “I am not gonna be a part of that catfight.” THAT is what she said. Maniston has refused an Obama endorsement, most likely at the behest of her PR agency and Huvane who knows that many middleaged minivans in red states, want to root for ‘jen.’ Huvane doesn’t want her on the outs with them, so she’s refusing to say who she’s for.
Not cause she’s a UN diplomat/ambassador who works bipartisanly..but because she s a straight up chicken, and famewh*re thinking of her bottomline, that’s Maniston for you.

…….in the long run and in light of all the turmoil going on in the world now due to the Depression and economic pain and extreme psychological pain that has hit all of us, this whole manufactured cra* as to who one votes for is increasingly irrelevant. The next US president will inherit Bush’s complete mess from the worst US president ever.

So he wants to intervene military to stop genocide’s, I don’t remember him telling that to the American people, or is that just when he talks to celebrities he goes all international that’s why I would never vote for Obama because he talks about money spent in Iraq but if you look at he’s World Poverty Act, America would be spending through the years 3 times what it has spent in Iraq and he’s for all genocide’s just not the one in Iraq if the troops had left I last year when he wanted them too before the surge. He doesn’t care if America loses a war because he’s all worried about the money spent and troops but for America to give hundreds of billions to Africa he’s not worried about what it will cost the American tax payer or how much blood would be lost to stop genocide’s around the world Wake up America he’s not who the media as been selling he his.
