OlderAngelina Jolie Backs Barack Obama?
Angelina Jolie opens up to the German edition of Vanity Fair about everything from politics to her newborn twins. Here are some choice quotes via Us Weekly:
On why she could be voting for Barack Obama: “Obama is fighting for international justice, he wants to intervene militarily in genocides abroad, and he wants to close down Guantanamo Bay. They are things which could move me to vote for him, not his roots. Of course, an American president like Barack Obama would be great for my family but would not be a reason to vote for someone.” (On Monday, Brad carried a notebook with a Obama sticker on it.)
On why she’s proud of the USA: “I am very proud of being American, and all my children have got American passports. For me, our family is just what America is - a melting pot, a mixture of many different races and nations. My children should be proud of their Asian and African roots, but that in no way means [is] a lack of respect for the fact that they and their parents are Americans.”
On her twins Knox and Vivienne (3-months-old on Sunday): “It’s a damned arduous business, and we are often simply whacked out because it is twice as hard with two babies as with one. But it also makes for double the fun. After we flew back from Europe, we were all suffering a bit from jetlag. We were all in bed early, but at half past four, they were awake and making a real racket… Brad took care of them. He said to me, ‘Go back to sleep, you’re back to work in the morning,’ and moved into the kids’ room with them. He is an astounding father, full of devotion… [Knox and Vivienne] have quite similar, stable rhythms. Every three hours they get hungry, then I have to satisfy them. But that’s OK, the two of them are totally sweet. When you see them, you think they were made for each other. They laugh together, they sniff each other, touch each other. It is beautiful.”
On struggling to find alone time with Brad: “Sometimes, at the end of the day, we try to retire to the bathroom to be undisturbed,” she says. “But then [the kids] hear the water running and want to come in and, yet again, we are all together. But that doesn’t disturb us because they are great kids.”
On how fame has changed motherhood for her: “I would like to have more freedom, especially to have the chance to be more spontaneous with my kids. Would I like to be able to walk through the streets with my kids? Of course. Would I like to be able to wander around Manhattan and buy them an ice cream like other mothers? Of course. But it is not possible. On the other hand, every morning I wake up with the people who are the most dear to me in the whole world. That’s why I don’t feel isolated from that, which is important to me. It helps, of course, that Brad knows all about it, but he’s experienced it even more than me. We often talk about it and try to make the best of things. But I am very grateful for our life and everything that we have.”

Why do people who don’t like Angelina read everything about her and then talk about her? I have asked this before but none of them has ever answered.
To those who say they have a right to their negative opinion of her, yes, you do, and you have already expressed it. I’m sure, more than once. Why are you still hanging around here? Aren’t you bored talking about someone you don’t like?

Love her. She was never afraid to be herself and speak her mind. She seems so at peace with things now. Her and Brad are great together. I think they have brought out the best in one another.

Why do Dems so care about poll number? Al Gore was winning according to the polls. John Kerry was winning according to the polls. But they didn’t win.
Hasn’t the German vanity fare been known to makeup stuff and is more tabloidish than their American one.
I choose to believe what Angelina said last week. She was in the US. She had every opportunity to say who she was voting for. She chose yet again not to endorse an candidate. It’s her rights. I think it is best that she stays nuetral. I also don’t think it means she will vote for Obama just because Brad is. The press is so biased, I doubt they would publish any positive comments she would make about any candidate other than obama.
I am not a raciist or crazy because I do not support Obama. I think he has little experience. He hasd been all talk and little action so far. We need a person who is willing to stand up to his party and work accross the party which he has not done despiute all his claims of what he plans to do. He has had questionable ties to haters. I think his judgement has been suspect. If he was running for mayor, I might have given him a chance to prove himself. With all that is going on, I do not want to vote for him. He likey will win. If so, I really hope he can get his act together and work for the good of thye people and not6 listen to the radical left hate aand antiamerican mongors.
That’s mny comment on this. I hope we get a new non political thread again. I always hate Octobers because of all the political bull that is prevalent everywhere.

…….in the long run and in light of all the turmoil going on in the world now due to the Depression and economic pain and extreme psychological pain that has hit all of us, this whole manufactured cra* as to who one votes for is increasingly irrelevant. The next US president will inherit Bush’s complete mess from the worst US president ever.

I remember when Bush won in 2000 at the heel of the October stock (dot com) market crash, the media, political experts et al were saying Bush may wish he didn’t win, that Gore was lucky he didn’t inherit Clinton’s mess (or something to this effect). How amusing that people are now saying the current mess is Bush’s! Where did the Clinton’s mess go? Did Bush cleaned it and started his own all by himself while the Democrats and Americans sit idle watching? Amusing, highly amusing!

I hope and pray that so many others will have the courage and conviction to not only endorse but vote for the man that could better service the country and not just their racial fears or American “traditions” as some would like to call It. Either way it all the same. Too many people are holding out for their last “great white hope” instead of embracing their black blessing. Now all I hear about is the unrest at McCain rallies but forgive me if I don’t panic or break sweat. It’s not a problem when minorities riot or protest an injustice because they will be them but when white America become ill at ease or start shaking in their shimmies about the prospect that an African American who was born and raised in America sought to obtain the cherry on top of the American dream all hell is about to break loose. Well, excuse the rest of minority America for living. Is it because no one want to see their grandpa or grandma show off their real colors. Or is it the manger or supervisor who has been cool with race but couldn’t bear possibility of having to stand up one day for President Barack Obama. If any of this isn’t sad enough, we have responsible leadership and journalism also imitating the masses of the running scared in our close minded society. You know…The same language that we are created equal as long as we know our place. It’s a free country as long as we beg our pardon to the “man”. Every opportunity is at your grasp as long your wait to handed you piece the “man” throw at you. What is it? When I see Tom Brokaw give a biased stance as moderator in a election year debate or local and national news anchors grasping at straws during news coverage to showcase only the good of their choice but quickly buy all the negative of other. When character assassinations, an old man desperation, the rantings and railings of the PTA pinup just for the “mini-van minority”, and last but not least the cries of the past still haunting the present and future of American how can we hold our heads high and call ourselves of the free world when we ourselves need to still yet be set free…
