OlderAngelina Jolie Backs Barack Obama?
Angelina Jolie opens up to the German edition of Vanity Fair about everything from politics to her newborn twins. Here are some choice quotes via Us Weekly:
On why she could be voting for Barack Obama: “Obama is fighting for international justice, he wants to intervene militarily in genocides abroad, and he wants to close down Guantanamo Bay. They are things which could move me to vote for him, not his roots. Of course, an American president like Barack Obama would be great for my family but would not be a reason to vote for someone.” (On Monday, Brad carried a notebook with a Obama sticker on it.)
On why she’s proud of the USA: “I am very proud of being American, and all my children have got American passports. For me, our family is just what America is - a melting pot, a mixture of many different races and nations. My children should be proud of their Asian and African roots, but that in no way means [is] a lack of respect for the fact that they and their parents are Americans.”
On her twins Knox and Vivienne (3-months-old on Sunday): “It’s a damned arduous business, and we are often simply whacked out because it is twice as hard with two babies as with one. But it also makes for double the fun. After we flew back from Europe, we were all suffering a bit from jetlag. We were all in bed early, but at half past four, they were awake and making a real racket… Brad took care of them. He said to me, ‘Go back to sleep, you’re back to work in the morning,’ and moved into the kids’ room with them. He is an astounding father, full of devotion… [Knox and Vivienne] have quite similar, stable rhythms. Every three hours they get hungry, then I have to satisfy them. But that’s OK, the two of them are totally sweet. When you see them, you think they were made for each other. They laugh together, they sniff each other, touch each other. It is beautiful.”
On struggling to find alone time with Brad: “Sometimes, at the end of the day, we try to retire to the bathroom to be undisturbed,” she says. “But then [the kids] hear the water running and want to come in and, yet again, we are all together. But that doesn’t disturb us because they are great kids.”
On how fame has changed motherhood for her: “I would like to have more freedom, especially to have the chance to be more spontaneous with my kids. Would I like to be able to walk through the streets with my kids? Of course. Would I like to be able to wander around Manhattan and buy them an ice cream like other mothers? Of course. But it is not possible. On the other hand, every morning I wake up with the people who are the most dear to me in the whole world. That’s why I don’t feel isolated from that, which is important to me. It helps, of course, that Brad knows all about it, but he’s experienced it even more than me. We often talk about it and try to make the best of things. But I am very grateful for our life and everything that we have.”

Jolie may be role model for new mothers

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A magazine cover photo of Angelina Jolie breast-feeding one of her newborn twins may have turned the superstar actress into a role model for new mothers.
The photo, taken by Jolie’s partner Brad Pitt, will adorn the November issue of W magazine. Other family pictures taken by Pitt in the weeks after the birth in July of twins Vivienne Marcheline and Leon Knox will appear inside.
“I think it is fabulous. Seeing a celebrity like Angelina Jolie breast-feed can be a role model to encourage women to make a choice that is wonderful for their baby,” said Andi Silverman, mom of two and author of “Mama Knows Breast.”
“Breasts are used to sell all sorts of products, so to see them used the way nature intended can only be a great thing,” Silverman told Reuters.

She didn’t leave Brad after 6 months, she didn’t leave Brad before Shiloh could walk, she didn’t leave Brad before Shiloh turned 2 or any other time he’s said she was going to. Angelinajoliewmagazine_l Is there something inherently hypocritical about the cover story in the new issue of W, which depicts a breastfeeding Angelina Jolie on its cover? The cover line accompanying the image promises exclusive “private photos,” which apparently have been snapped by her baby daddy, Brad Pitt. Not surprisingly, the reaction to the photo has been mixed with some people lauding Brangelina for being open about breastfeeding, something still considered taboo in our nation’s more puritanical circles, while others are crying foul that the “private” moments have been sold to the highest bidder and put on a national magazine cover — the inherent hypocrisy mentioned earlier.
I’m typically one to cry, “Sell out!” pretty early with stuff like this, but this particular case made me think twice. Not only does the beautiful, natural photo of mommy and baby help dispel the antiquated notion that breastfeeding is anything to be ashamed of, it’s also a case of an extremely famous celebrity couple taking control of their own image and spinning it in a positive way. I first thought about this last summer, when Pitt and Jolie sold the first photos of themselves with their babies to People magazine and the British tabloid Hello! for $14 million and gave the money to charity. Why let some stranger/stalker cash in on your own “private moments” and plaster photos all over the Internet that you have no control over?
In the same way, Pitt and Jolie (who caused a stir once before by simply wearing a visible white nursing bra underneath her tank top on the cover of People after the birth of daughter Shiloh, now 2 years old ) have now decided to share some tasteful, intimate photos of mommy breastfeeding her baby — and given their history of doing these shoots, it’s likely they will again donate the cash to a charitable cause. Not only does this allow them to promote the beauty and elegance of a mother breastfeeding her newborn child, it also helps feed the public’s hunger for images of celebrity “private” moments with a classy, tasteful alternative to all the crotch-shots, nip-slips, and WTF celebrity shots littering sites like Perez or TMZ.

Hmm I don’t think you will be getting a job after that loony comment. Your standard of living does not have anything to do with BP and AJ. If you are not conserving, getting rid of credit card debt and saving, then you are setting yourself up for failure. Everyone is responsible for their own lives. BP and AJ go out of their way to help many through their charitable and humanitarian giving.. They don’t have to live like paupers to appease your overspending. Save girl, times are not getting easy.

I saw some of the W magazine images on E News. They are beautiful
Mere days after helping star client Angelina Jolie pick the perfect frock to wear (Atelier Versace, at left) for her first red carpet appearance since the birth of her twins, stylist Jennifer Rade hopped on a plane to offer her wardrobe tips to SF shoppers at the Marciano store — many of whom weren’t even aware of her high-octane connections. (Rade also recently shipped 15 boxes of clothing to France that was part of the splashy W magazine shoot where hubby Brad Pitt photographed Jolie breast-feeding. The magazine won’t hit the stands til next week but images are already making rounds.
As music blared and the champagne was poured (the event was a b-day bash celebrating the store’s two year anniversay at its Westfield Centre location), Rade shared her styling secrets with the rest of us mere mortals who are not blessed with Angie’s genetic fortunes.
“For me, it’s all about proportion and comfort,” she said. So if you’re “hippier” (love that phrase), that doesn’t mean you can’t wear skinny jeans, as long as you’ve got a knee-high boot and chunky sweater for balance.
And surprise! She’s a huge fan of Marciano, she said, and often pulls items from the shop for clients to wear in photo shoots (and herself to wear around her Los Angeles home). One of her favorite new trends is the sleeveless coat, she said, pointing to a cute one hanging a few feet away. “It’s cute and you don’t get blazing hot.” Also on her personal must-have list: soft corduroy pants and a silky tank top bodysuit.
Can I just say, I love this woman — and not just because she loves black and wears comfy white socks between her leggings and boots like I do?
I’d much rather vote for Minnie Mouse than Obama.
