Angelina Jolie Backs Barack Obama?
Angelina Jolie opens up to the German edition of Vanity Fair about everything from politics to her newborn twins. Here are some choice quotes via Us Weekly:
On why she could be voting for Barack Obama: “Obama is fighting for international justice, he wants to intervene militarily in genocides abroad, and he wants to close down Guantanamo Bay. They are things which could move me to vote for him, not his roots. Of course, an American president like Barack Obama would be great for my family but would not be a reason to vote for someone.” (On Monday, Brad carried a notebook with a Obama sticker on it.)
On why she’s proud of the USA: “I am very proud of being American, and all my children have got American passports. For me, our family is just what America is - a melting pot, a mixture of many different races and nations. My children should be proud of their Asian and African roots, but that in no way means [is] a lack of respect for the fact that they and their parents are Americans.”
On her twins Knox and Vivienne (3-months-old on Sunday): “It’s a damned arduous business, and we are often simply whacked out because it is twice as hard with two babies as with one. But it also makes for double the fun. After we flew back from Europe, we were all suffering a bit from jetlag. We were all in bed early, but at half past four, they were awake and making a real racket… Brad took care of them. He said to me, ‘Go back to sleep, you’re back to work in the morning,’ and moved into the kids’ room with them. He is an astounding father, full of devotion… [Knox and Vivienne] have quite similar, stable rhythms. Every three hours they get hungry, then I have to satisfy them. But that’s OK, the two of them are totally sweet. When you see them, you think they were made for each other. They laugh together, they sniff each other, touch each other. It is beautiful.”
On struggling to find alone time with Brad: “Sometimes, at the end of the day, we try to retire to the bathroom to be undisturbed,” she says. “But then [the kids] hear the water running and want to come in and, yet again, we are all together. But that doesn’t disturb us because they are great kids.”
On how fame has changed motherhood for her: “I would like to have more freedom, especially to have the chance to be more spontaneous with my kids. Would I like to be able to walk through the streets with my kids? Of course. Would I like to be able to wander around Manhattan and buy them an ice cream like other mothers? Of course. But it is not possible. On the other hand, every morning I wake up with the people who are the most dear to me in the whole world. That’s why I don’t feel isolated from that, which is important to me. It helps, of course, that Brad knows all about it, but he’s experienced it even more than me. We often talk about it and try to make the best of things. But I am very grateful for our life and everything that we have.”

hello fans, wow!!! the power of this beautiful couple, i missed all the fun this week, good for brad and Angie, maybe we should all just state who we are voting for like McCain/Palin supporters? nope, that would be useless, no one on this board is going to persuade anyone, it’s a personal decision, so keep it to yourself. long live brad and Angie and the kiddies, brad is so talented, is there anything he can’t do?
angie you have lost me forever as a fan. you are stupid not to back someone who is married to cindy mccain. she is exactly what you strive to be… all your money and p.r. will never get you the respect you want from people like me.
lisa hines@ 9:02pm is a creepy child molester please inform the FBI jared - thanks
moving on……
# 169 You/Me @ 10/10/2008 at 9:05 pm # 9 Nicole @ 10/10/2008 at 4:36 pm YOU ARE SO DESPERATE, JARED! WHY DON’T YOU INCLUDE THE FULL QUOTE, WHERE SHE SAID THAT’S NOT ENOUGH REASON TO VOTE FOR HIM? IDIOT.
Here it is:
“Obama is fighting for international justice, he wants to intervene militarily in genocides abroad, and he wants to close down Guantanamo Bay,” she tells the German edition of Vanity Fair. “They are things which could move me to vote for him, not his roots. Of course, an American president like Barack Obama would be great for my family.”
Still, Jolie - whose father, Jon Voight, has endorsed John McCain - says just because Obama would be a good example for her family isn’t “reason enough to vote for him.”
+++++++++++
THANK YOU! I was thinking the exact same thing….Angie never said she was backing Obama and voting for him. Why put words in her mouth? I think it’s because everyone is so desperate to have her on Obama’s side and because they think they know her. It must really, really suck for her to have her words torn apart to fit someone else’s point of view.

A word of caution you/me #169, that entire passage is US ragazine’s take and characterization of what Angelina said. Notice how the phrase “reason enough to vote for him,” is in quotes, and the word *isn’t*…well, is NOT. They’ve taken that one phrase and have not given us the context it’s being said in, nor do they give us the rest of what she said, before or after that.
This is from the GERMAN Vanity Fair, so until someone who can translate German and who has read the article weighs in, I’d advise you not to believe their ‘take.’
The paragraph they quote is believable where AJ ticks off what Obama is for, but that little floating isn’t “reason enough to vote for him.” may not be…she could just as easily have said ONLY the quoted part: as in, that IS “reason enough to vote for him.”
It’s US rag, don’t get excited. I believe they can translate German correctly like I believe Janice Min can translate the Dead Sea Scrolls.
Lisa Hines- You’re a sick sick person.
Kristian, Angelina is a very dedicated humanitarian. So is Cindy Mc Cain. That won’t change based on who she will vote for which is not clear. I support both woman regardless of the election results.
OT: I read in the IMDB that the x is getting $20M for TBU Part II. Does anyone believe this is actually possible?
tabitha @ 10/10/2008 at 9:18 pm
I’d much rather vote for Minnie Mouse than Obama.
==========
I won’t vote for Obama either.

Good lord! Get over yourself. Angie has all the respect she needs from the people who count. That doesn’t include you.
Folks can vote for whoever they want, it is a free country. “Vote”, not whine being the operative word.
Just so you guys know, dont trust that article of LA times with the chart of the possible OSCAR nominees..Tom O Neil the one who wrote all of this, is none other than the editor of In Touch weekly and hates Angie…He always writes bad things about her…Most respected critics praise Angie’s performance and think that she is a strong contender.

LOL ROFLMAO!! Poor Anna. I can hear you shrieking in pain all the way over here. Been a bad week for you, hasn’t it? Can’t get away from Angie’s gorgeous photo everywhere you look. Go watch some Friends reruns, you’ll feel ever so much better. BTW, did “Management” find a distributor yet? I thought not.
To all my fellow JP republican fans,
We still love you even if you vote for the other side. Politics is personal much like religion. I am an Obama/Biden supporter I would vote for them even if Angie does not suppor them. I am well rounded that way I can allow room in my life for different points of view and ideologies.
Angie did not endorse Obama she just said she likes some of his ideas. So enough with the politics because it brings division among the fans and risk the chance of offending one another. My sister is a republican and we are liberal blacks from NY. Go figure. It is family.
Realistic, fantastic family.
They are misquoting her again. I like Obama more but I think she didn’t say she will vote for him. she is taking her time to decide for the best candidate.

What happened to this film? Did it ever get a distributor??

You are delusional if you really think she is still figuring out who to vote for. Pretty sad that Jared has to make up headlines. I don’t think he realizes how really simple most of the posters are on this site and if he posted that Jolie is voting for Donald Duck they would all be looking for the duck on the ticket on election day.
Love Angelina’s candour on so many subjects… and the fact that she has the kind of perspective that can only come from living a full, thoughtful, well-travelled life… she never stops inspiring me :-)
Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to all my fellow Canuck Jolie-Pitt fans!! Shout out to Ariel - hope you are well!

ANGELINA JOLIE - JOLIE TOPPLES ANISTON ON FORBES’ CELEBRITY FACE LIST
ANGELINA JOLIE has topped a new list to find the most popular celebrity face.
Forbes magazine’s new U.S. tabloid survey suggests more people are likely to buy magazines with the new mum’s face on the cover than any other star’s.
Ironically, Brad Pitt’s former wife Jennifer Aniston, who topped the list in 2007, came in second.
Jolie won in all Forbes categories - for sales, likability and most covers.
Tragic star Heath Ledger came in third, while Jamie Lynn Spears and Nicole Richie rounded out the top five.
Sorry about the duplication - clearly I thought I lost my post the first time LOL
To #194. the NEA (National Education Association) distributed Angelina’s film, millions of school kids around the nation and the world have seen her film. The president of the NEA attended the premiere.

So was it given to various schools? I remember it had a screening for a bunch of students in NY. If only it had a theatrical release or DVD.
amazing woman
Thanks Jared for the new thread, but I think I will stay away from this one, cause I have a feeling it is going to be all about politics lol
