re-read my comment, i never said 68 was insulting anyone, i said they had a funny way of showing their adoration for zac.

i get what you’re saying thoughbut if you really believe what you said that “for most pretty boy or girl…you can be hot today and dust tomorrow” then it also applies to vanessa NOT just zac. it seemed like the original comment we’re talking about was implying he might not make it based on “pretty boy” looks, even saying to “worry” about his career, in favor of complimenting vanessa and that didn’t seem fair and that is what i was addressing. if that’s the case then spread it across the board-vanessa is pretty too so i guess she may also be in the dust? i just think if you comment that looks is something to watch out for, then be fair and spread that idea equally. obviously i could be wrong and realize that, but that was the feeling i got from it. i actually don’t see where their looks is a bad thing- they have gorgeous faces. why say one needs to worry to make a point about the other?

i’m not 50 but i understand that celebs come and go-whether they have nice looking faces or not.

Both Zac & Vanessa are considered “pretty” . If you are going to start making predictions and make comments that say people should start worrying about someones career based on looks then it applies to Zac AND Vanessa. To ” zaccarra” you are obviously not a hater but hollywood is filled with a bunch of pretty faces for girls that are here one day on gone the next. You can’t use that to only apply to Zac because it is not exclusive to guys.

Zac is a nice, mature, down to earth, talented guy. He is still here for more than his looks and will continue to be. A long healthy career for anyone can be filled with some not so great roles and etc so even if he did hs2(hope not) it won’t destroy him.

The same goes to Vanessa, she is a sweet, bubbly, real and also talented girl. Just because some people want her to a passing Disney fad doesn’t mean she will be.

Neither Zac or Vanessa have some one up on each other in terms of surviving after hsm. They both have done some great things unrelated to hsm and BOTH will continue to do so. They will both have to work hard and make good choices, which I think they have shown that they will.

Defending Vanessa is fine but it can be done without trying to undermine Zac and vice versa.

I get where you are coming from. I think why the original comment implied that Zac should worry is that he stands in greater danger of being typecast and stereotyped than Vanessa.

If you check back, this tends to happen mostly to guys because the screaming population tend to be teen girls who are fickle and are always looking for the next poster boy.

I think Zac is talented and has a lot of potential but his stardom unfortunately now is based on his ‘hotness’ and appeal to teen girls. He really needs to take roles that would take him out of that demographic, roles in which his talent would not be overshadowed by his looks or sex appeal.

As for Vanessa, while she also of course needs to be careful about her roles, she’s not exactly facing the same situation Zac is facing as people have less expectations from her.

And honestly, you rarely have poster girl roles in movies as teen girls would go for the guys. her own danger would be in doing disney type films with characters like gabby but so far with her movie choices, she’s shown that she’s veering from that. she’s playing a dark and off the wall role in her next film.

Also. her scandal realigned her fanbase, she shed a lot of the fickle teen ones who moved on to the other disney stars and gained a lot of older fans who would actually stay with her even if she moves to indie films or non-glamourous roles.

She’s always been the outsider in disney as well, the disney princesses are Ashley and Miley and the new ones which has helped her as her fanbase is largely independent of disney.

For instance, Zac has a much larger fanbase than Vanessa, why did she win teen choice female hottie and he didn’t win the male one, because new poster boys, the Jonas brothers had arrived and the teen girls had moved to them. That’s the danger of being a teen idol.

Having said that, I like Zac’s role choice in MAOW, that is the right direction and with the right film choices, he definitely would have longevity. However, he needs to loose the poster boy image and the tween fans.

To do that he might have to take smaller and grittier roles and work his way up from there.

More musicals or romantic comedies would not be the way at all.

Naomi, profound thoughts again. I do agree that when the scandal broke Vanessa inadvertently ( for the better) found herself with a different class of fans, the mature, understanding, compassionate, maternal/paternal kind who admired her resilience and family values and recognised her for what she is , human. These are the type of fans who will steadfastly support her along the rocky road to establishing herself as a bonafide actress and entertainer.

And I agree that it has been even harder for her to prove herself even though she has natural talent given the prejudices surrounding her and her background unlike the rest of the Disney Princesses and Princes who have had regular roles on television.

Whatever the debate going on this thread, it is interesting to read the differing points of view without the usual “sucks, ugly, lame, w ho re, gay, fake” comments amongst others and that we are not blinded by the fickle entertainment industry but are just voicing our fears and hopes for Vanessa and Zac.
